Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Among the ones you listed, I've used Motul 7100. Then I've used Motul 300v and right now i'm on Shell Advanced Ultra 4T.Originally posted by united View PostHi friends, Pls suggest the best fully synthetic from the following-
1. mobil1 FS
2. motul 7100 FS
3. elf moto FS
4. gulf FS
5. valvoline FS
or any other except castrol
The best oil I've felt among these was the Motul 300v (also the most expensive.Got it for INR1050). Engine smoothness was amazing especially in hot conditions under high revs.
But this oil is mostly overkill on our roads. Its most useful for thrashy riding as it was designed for racing applications (high revving, high power) . Else Motul 7100 is more than capable. It also provides great protection under hot conditions and provides excellent protection at high revs. Just think of it as a lower version of 300v
Right now I'm using Shell Advanced Ultra 4T. Completed almost 1200kms on this oil. Though this oil felt very good initially (better than Motul infact), I guess the oil has started oxidising and it doesn't feel so good anymore. Engine roughness is felt now and unless heated up, the oil feels like its not doing much to protect the engine.
So among Shell and Motul I would advise to go for Motul. Haven't tried the others so cannot comment on them.

FZ Clutch Problem (gear shifting problem)
I am having FZS which is has done 3000 KM but from only 1000 KM clutch setting gets change even after pressing clutch its hard to change gears i have done setting of clutch after that it was ok for about 300 KM after that same problem started and putting bike in neutral is very difficult as i have to apply lot of force to put it neutral
After replacing engine oil gear shift becomes smooth but only for some 300 KM and after that it again starts
i don't know why its happening as my CBZ gears are smooth even after 3500 km without oil change

Re: FZ Clutch Problem (gear shifting problem)
Planning to change both the tyres as they've crossed 30k kms now
Planning to get the 140-60/R17 Revz M or Revz Y for the rear. Some dealer I had gone to, a few weeks back, had quoted 3300 for it. Think nadz11.ns got for less than that.
What's the actual cost for the tyres and what model should I go for the front ?

I guess you are using Yamalube, I use to face the same issue with that particular oil. Just make sure they put the FZ oil and not R15's oil in your bike.Originally posted by rpawaskar2 View PostI am having FZS which is has done 3000 KM but from only 1000 KM clutch setting gets change even after pressing clutch its hard to change gears i have done setting of clutch after that it was ok for about 300 KM after that same problem started and putting bike in neutral is very difficult as i have to apply lot of force to put it neutral

Cheerz!!
I got Revz-M for Rs. 3450 around 3 months back in Mumbai. Keep the same size in front, for rear you have many options like Michelin, Dunlop, Ceat. But, only MRF has 140/60 profile, all others have 140/70 profile.Originally posted by eliksir View PostPlanning to change both the tyres as they've crossed 30k kms now

Re: FZ Clutch Problem (gear shifting problem)
Use any oil, but make sure its of the mentioned grade, i.e. 20w40 or 20w50.Originally posted by rpawaskar2 View Postabout Oil does it make that much difference in gear shifting also which oil should i use other than Yamaha brand
I have found 15w50 to be worst for fz. Shifting become hard and engine rough.
Ride safe and have fun.

Re: FZ Clutch Problem (gear shifting problem)
Yes, oil does make a difference. Go for Motul, Veedol, Gulf, Shell, make sure you use 20W40 or 10W40 grade oil. You can use Mineral, Semi-Synthetic, Full-Synthetic oil as per your choice.Originally posted by rpawaskar2 View Postabout Oil does it make that much difference in gear shifting also which oil should i use other than Yamaha brand

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Guys, I was planning to change my Fazer's rear tyre. Its 26k kms old and getting frequent punctures these days. I called up few shops in JC Road, Bangalore. One of them mentioned about new MRF NV series. Anyone got it ? They said it will cost about 3800/-. Is RevZ-Y available in shops now ?

Those bolts hold the cam gear cover into place. Beneath it is the cam gear and chain. Do not open it unless absolutely necessary or you'll have to change the head cover packing to prevent an oil leak.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
I've been using Motul oils since my first service. This time decided to try out Shell. So filled Shell Advanced Ultra 10W40 at a Shell station.
But recently its not been smooth sailing.
When it was put in, the oil felt amazing. Better than Motul actually. But that went away within 500kms. And on a long ride I felt that this oil lacks the feel Motul gives. For the last 300-400kms I was feeling friction in the engine and the gears were sticking. So decided to change the oil.
This is how Shell advanced ultra 4T oil looks after just 1380km of usage! When it was put in it was completely transarent!!
During this time I've only only reached 105kmph with a pillion once. Rest all the riding was normal city riding.
To be honest I was pretty shocked when I saw the oil like this. It looks like the oil has not been changed for more than 4000kms.
Is this oxidation? Or is the oil so bad. Didn't expect this from a manufacturer like Shell to be honest.
Even the mechanic was shocked to see this in just 1400kms. He was like I will not suggest Shell to my customers now.
BTW while changing the oil today the mechanic said "Motul hi use karo saab... cheez hi alag hai woh!" (Use motul only saab, its unlike anything else).

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Since how many months have you been using this oil? When you drained the oil, was it flowing freely or had the oil become a biy thicker than original state?Originally posted by arijitmaniac View PostI've been using Motul oils since my first service. I have used Shell AX7 and although the oil was black when drained @ 2.2k kms, I hadn't faced any issues like gear sticking or engine roughness during that period.
