Btw, Motul 3100 is also mineral. Motul 5100 is SS

Open the switch assembly and clean the switch with wd40/zorik etc. I also used to have this problem in monsoon. Rust form and it doesn't let the connection to be made.
The problem may be something else, still its worth a try.

Also it would be good to change the front tyre. 37k kms is more than enough.

Chain set issue

Recently around 11K, I changed the whole chain set (Chain + front and rearsprocket). Now the chain is making loud noise and it increases with speed. I asked the about this to SVC and they told me to again change the whole chain set. My ODO reading is 16300 only

. I could see that chain is fine but rear sprocket is wear out.

Is that possible a new chain set cant last 5K? I have installed yamaha chain set last time but from different SVC (bad luck, It is closed now

).

Please tell me whether I replace the sprocket only or whole chain set. I am not sure whether we can source only sprocket since it came in bundle with chain.

Please advice!!

Was the wheel aligned properly after the sprocket was changed? A misaligned sprocket would cause the chain and sprocket to wear out faster and also make noise. Get the alignment checked.

Guys for the first time I am giving my bike for servicing to a local workshop. Last time the showroom service centre din't do a proper job that's why. Please tell what to check after the servicing is done.
And please tell me a good engine oil. I have already use Yamaha lube semi synthetic and want to try a different one.

Do you clean and lube the chain at regular intervals?? If not, the chain life will ne reduced considerably. Also, don't depend on SVC to do the chain lubing. They are least bothered to do it. IMO, DIY only.

Check the chain slackness, adjust it if required.

Incase you have problems in bike, tell your problems to the mechanic.

You can use Motul, Gulf, Veedol, Shell which is available in your city.

Thank you for the quick reply.
I want to use Motul or else Shell. If you could tell me the specific grade or name then it will be much helpful. I do normally sane riding in the city and sometimes(once or twice in a month) long rides. Btw I am from Bangalore.

So how much is the quantity suppose to be put as the oil filter will be change. Before I normally put 1 litre only but I came to know from some post that 1 litre is not enough if the oil filter is changed.
And also does fully synthetic oils takes a toll on the clutch plates? I mean does it affects the clutch plates.

I do the cleaning my self and lubing also. I could see the chain is fine but the rear sprocket is not. Is there any way where we can just replace the sprocket and not the chain? Please suggest

1ltr will suffice the requirement with oil filter change.

FZ gives good feedback with respect to using any oil.

Thanks for your help.

Check for sprocket rotation. If it is wobbling, change the sprocket bearings and rear wheel bearings ASAP without any delay.

The chain set comes in full set only, not sure if you will get only rear sprocket.

Don't replace just the sprocket or just the chain. A partially worn out chain/sprocket will cause the other to wear out faster. Always replace the entire set together.

First thing check the axle bolt if its uneven, the marks should be exactly aligned on both sides of the swingarm.
Here is an image I found on this thread on page 850 showing the marks to refer.

If they are not aligned then the wheel will not be straight which will make the sprocket teeth hit the chain wearing it out. Most mechanics dont bother with setting this correctly. Take it to a mechanic to align them. If you want to do it yourself you can use a 18-19mm sized ring spanner.

Also put the bike on center stand and bring it to neutral. Then try to turn the rear wheel by hand. It should spin freely (not as free a bicycle wheel obviously

) and there should not be any noise coming from the chain.
Else the alignment might be off.
