Chain sprocket and tyres are new.). Now i get 32 mileage which is not a good mileage as compared to other FZ and lacks in power. Local mechanics and few bike owners suggest me to check the carbon deposits in engine head as it has ran for around 40k. If so decarbonize and do the valve settings etc for better performance and efficiency. I had driven my friends FZ (2009 model) which was giving 42-44 mileage . I expect at least 40 mileage from my bike.So guys pls let me know what needs to be done for getting good mileage?. Pls help. Thank you

Models till 2011 will never give mileage more than 40km/L (that too under extreme cases). Ride in the speed range of 50-60km/h, keep chain well lubed and service the bike regularly. Only then you will get slightly better mileage.

      Ride safe and have fun.

After 20 days or so the coneset again started to make noise taktak while riding through bumps, took it to SVC again on Jan 20 ,2015 to fix the issue. They told the forks were not tightened properly so they fixed it and the problem vanished for some time . For the last 2 weeks the problem started again especially after a water wash, I am taking the bike to service center again, what should I ask them to check additonally . Also is the 140/70 tyre is making the coneset bad that early, should I go back to stock for this reason?
140/70 tyre of which make? I don't think the tyre profile has gotbto do anything with coneset.

Check for proper greasing of bearings and check if was tightened properly or not. Make sure they tighten it properly and not over tighten.

140/70 Dunlop tuff grip, I will ask them to check the coneset assemble again and do extra greasing .

mate its just because the screw under the handle bar is loosened so get it fixed properly before the rings of ur screw get damaged !!

Hello fellow bikers,i need a help. Recently my fzs started behaving sluggishly.the air filter and clutch plates where changed recently. It was fine for some days.but yesterday I rode my friend's fz and mine back to back.my fz is very sluggish compared to his.and his fz is stock.what could be the reason behind the sluggish pickup ?and does changing the spark plug make any difference? My fzs has clocked 15k.

Follow the manual, its your best friend. Read it thoroughly asap.

In short, don't ride above the rpm mentioned in the manual. Keep rmp in mind and not speed. Don't ride at constant rpm/speed for long. Keep it changing. And get the bike serviced after first 450-550kms.

Btw, you bought normal fz or FI version ?

                    Ride safe and have fun.

                        Hai Guys,
Sorry I was inactive for almost 2 months due to some personal commitments.

It has been 2 months since I have taken care of my baby. I seldom ride her. Yesterday went for a drive about 60 kms. After return in the evening. I found black smoke coming out of the exhaust.
It seems that her heart has to be transplanted. Yes after 45254kms my baby needed a complete makeover. Just bought the cylinder, piston assembly, packing. Cost about Rs. 2670. Will be changing them and keep you guys posted.
Anyway she have been taking care of me from day one and now the favour has to be given back.

                        Cheers

Keep checking the air pressure. If it decreases in quick intervals, change the rim.
Rims cannot be repaired. The metal itself is very brittle and if we try to do repairing with heat treatment, it will lose its strength and may crack.

Same here, get to ride her only on sundays that too not for long.

Btw, isn't white smoke the indicator that the engine needs to be checked and black smoke can be due to rich mixture, etc ?
Also, will you do the engine work yourself ?

Sorry forgot to mention both white and black smoke is emitted. White smoke comes initially but when raised black smoke is found. The same thing happened to my Pulsar also.

I wish I could do the work myself. Got all the tools but no time. So have to give it to my trusted mechanic.

The biggest hit for me is the run-in period. It is very difficult for me to run the beast in slow speed. But for her sake I have to do it.

The rims in our bikes are Die cast and bends cannot be fixed 100% , I spoiled both front and rear by trying to get it repaired at a workshop. Had to buy new ones in couple of months. First thing to do is to check for air leaks due the bend, do a soak test. If you find the air leaks you can put a tube inside the rim and ride but not advisable Or you can change the rims I hope these bends are also covered in insurance.
