Are the new FZ fi open loop? I didn\'t see a lamda sensor on a bike, but I gotta admit, I didn\'t look closely.
    I am back!

          Hi Friends
Riding my Fzs since two years and she feels like pain in ass. Fzs is my first bike best gift of my 18th birthday, that\'s what i thought when i bought it. Before buying this shit i thought yamaha is known for its quality products but that was not the case. I treat my bike as queen if Yamaha svc says that your next service is about 3000km i take it to service at 2500km.
Now after 15000 km i changed these parts
          clutch plate(15000?)
          clutch wire
          throttle wire
          chain set (15000?)
          engine valves
          left fork leaked two tmes
          dampers
and know my bike started eating engine oil also. Seriously Yamaha after 18000 km piston ring fried. I\'m using Motul 7100 1l and after 2700 km only 500ml oil is remaining.
My friend has fazer he drives it daily with heavy thrashing ( changed two rear tires 1.5 years) and only two service per year, and that too from local shop all parts like air filter are local. His piston fried after 21000 km. Why should i service my bike regularly if same problem i\'m going to face like unserviced bike.
Totally disappointed by yamaha. First and last bike from yamaha.
Friends i\'m thinking to sell my bike and thinking to buy suzuki gixxer is it good a choice or i should change piston kit.

              Hi All,

I bought Fazer on 15th Dec. 2014. Its been about a month & had its first service.
I bought it from Kamlya Yamaha chinchwad pune. Servicing was OK OK Types.

What my concern is they charged me 150rs for CHAIN CLEAN (although they used lubricating spray in front of me ).
But its not worth paying them 150.(even i can buy a spray).
Is this normal and if not then Can I tell them not to do CHAIN CLEANING for the next service.

              Thanks,
              Nakul

Yes you can ask them not to do chain cleaning if you want to do it yourself.
Tell them clearly and ask them to write it down on the service sheet that you dont want chain cleaning done and you are not going to pay for it if they do.
If they say its mandatory or anything to that effect, tell them you'll pay for it after consulting Yamaha. They will fall in line.

                Cheers!

I live in Delhi and drive in areas with lots of traffic, ok there is no area in Delhi without Traffic, i'm always hard on throttle in traffic. But on highway i'm always sensible on throttle. Out of 18000 only 3000km is of highway.

It's the winter season now. Do you warm up your engine before you start riding every morning? If you use heavy throttle without warning your engine up, you will definitely end up with bust piston rings.
Cold makes the metal brittle and smaller in size. Warming up will ensure that the cylinder wall warms up and expands enough to properly accommodate the piston's movement.

                      Cheers!

A warm up wont take much time and for best results and reduced wear make sure that the bike idles above 1k RPM.

Really sad to hear that and It's quite shocking to read such things on a bike which is built on the term 'quality'. In fact this is the first major negative review I'm reading about the bike. Often its been criticized for either lack of mileage or poor service by people at svc or the tyre problem but nothing like yours. A properly serviced bike shouldn't be in that state and your right about your friend's bike, some people never bother to care for their bike and yet don't face a major problem troubling them frequently. That just shows the quality of the brand. I can only say that your bike might have been at the wrong hands everytime you gave it for service or it has been treated bad by people who use it apart from you.
Hope you find a solution for the problems and it changes your perception about Yamaha and FZ.

That's why i'm feeling cheated because she is been treated like queen for 2 years and most of the time driven by me. And if my friends drive my bike, i always sit behind them.

Dont know if quality from yamaha has droped.
I am riding first gen fz16 and it is just a jem.78 thousang kms on the odo and still on the stock engine.
                                Parts replaced are
                                Clutch assembly
                                Starter relay
                                Battery
Tyres and other consumeables and still running great.

May be it is because of service center guys. They riv the engine so high and unnecesserily all the time.
I have seen those basterds rivving new bikes untill they emitted smoke form the exhaust when they were being prepared to take to the showroom.

I recently came to know from the svc mechancic that those bikes used for promotion stunt purpose are washed, replaced damaged parts and sent back to showroon and sold from there again.
And it is sure those bikes which need proper run in are ruined by such activities in the beginning.

You may be one victim of such yamaha management.
