Instead of replacing the whole carb, you can change a few parts which might need replacement like the carb diaphragm (the black rubber part), pilot jet and main jet etc. This will work out cheaper and may solve your problems as well. Also have a look at the condition of throttle cable and replace if needed.
    Thanks a lot brother.
Engine head was decarbonized at about 70k kms.
Today asked mech to open the carb and upon inspection carburator valve piston had scratches .The piston alone costs 3400 indian rupees in Nepal.
Will be visiting india soon so thinking of getting whole carburator unit from there.

Can anyone please ask the price of carburator of fz s (not of fz 16).

      Your welcome
Rtr carb costs about 2.5k in India. So fz carb should be somewhere near the same

Been using the stock headlamp bulb all this while as i hardly had to do night rides. With some night rides coming up (no trips, sadly office to home commute), looking for some better lighting options.

And, I've no idea about the extension of damage this rich-mixture has done on the engine(& components) during this period.

          Dear Sparkot,

Checked the choke piston, its movement is moderate (i.e, Not moving ideally but not stationary altogether).

What can be the damages to the engine? (if this is air fuel ratio problem, then i have been riding the engine on incorrect ratio for close to 600 kms)

I am giving the bike to a mechanic today itself, Mohan Automobiles (basavangudi). Any reviews for the said mechanic? Or rather, any skilled mechanic you know in Bengaluru?

On another note, while overtaking a BMTC bus, I revved a little and felt this huge jerk when it was close to 6000 rpm. The engine is not going above that? Is it nearing seizure?

          Thanks in advance,

Pls refer to the below replies:

1.Have put around 12000 kms on the current spark plug.
            2. There is not much difference seen when choke is activated. I have mentioned before that after riding for 30 mins, stopping and then restarting the bike after 5 minutes leads to bike not starting; if i pull the choke during re starting it takes even more time to start
            3. Engine oil level reduces over time ( not sure, will have to check today)

Whats the remedy for this? should i get the carb and the spark plug replaced with new ones?
            Dear Sparkot,

You were absolutely right, I checked the spark plug and it is black at the tip (should be chocolate brown) so i guess the root cause is the high air fuel mixture. But need your opinion, should i get a new carb installed (Same Mikuni 26) or should i get the old one cleaned by the mech? And should the air filter be changed to a new one too?

If the AFR is rich, get tuning done to correct afr.
Also changing the spark plug and air filter would be a good idea.
No need to change the carb.

              Ride safe and have fun.

Did he just say changing the carb? Man it cost 3500+ and tuning it cost 50 rs. Don't worry too much

I am planning to take (shift) my bike to Hyderabad.

The bike registration bears my Mother's name. I am not planning to change my MH number to TS as of now.

Should I transfer the registration on my name and what kind of service would be better to move my bike to Hyderabad?

Get an NOC certificate and I think form 29 (not sure, find out) and then get it here and pay the road tax and you should be good for the next 6months at least. That is all that is needed. But just to be safe get a letter from your mom saying she owns the bike but you ride it and are responsible for it.

Also any popular packers and movers should be ok. Or else just ride it all the way. :P The ride from Thane to Hyderabad is not that challenging (albeit a bit uncomfortable due to bad roads).

NOC certificate and Form 29 is to be obtained from the RTO right?

Since riding all the way to HYD is not an option for me, which packers and movers service is good?

                          Hi Dhyanesh,

Any respectable movers and packers will do; but I would recommend Agarwal Movers and Packers (check their availability)
Pls avoid Gati at all costs, unless you want to have broken indicators and mirrors and other callousness on their part
I am shifting back to Dehradun from Bangalore and shall be transferring my FZ soon, will keep you posted w.r.t the steps involved

                          Thanks

Yes it is available in the RTO and is issued once the RTO concludes the checking to see if there are pending challans on your bike. Any respectable packer and movers will do but supervise the packing of your bike yourself for best results and take the truck drivers phone number to track his whereabouts.

Thank you. Will get my bike serviced first and then call Agarwal Movers and Packers.

By the way, how long does it take usually to get a bike transported over 700kms?

You can also try transporting through railways. Though the delivered condition depends on luck [emoji14]

I transported my fz from Jaipur to Jammu (900kms approx) through train and it was without any scratch, while my brothers R15 had broken clutch lever.

It all comes down to how well the bike been packed. Make sure to pack the bike carefully and use bubble wrap to protect the paint.

                                Ride safe and have fun.
