i m back!Originally posted by dnyanesh View PostYou might not call this accurate but the bike managed to do around 30Kms on fuel worth 100 bucks (1.3 ltrs approx).
Someone told me that there was something stuck to the real tyre. So I went to the parking lot to remove it and then I noticed that the tyre was not rotating freely as it used to earlier.
You have three problems. a. You think your rear wheel is not freely rotating b. Low mileage. c. You think b. is because of a.
a. If you have no drag and you can move the vehicle(by pushing) in neutral without feeling any drag from behind, your wheel and the brakes are ok.. And you are just doubting. You check the free play in brake pedal.. If there is none, then your brakes may be tight otherwise not.
b. If the mileage is that low, check the rpms.. Its coming from there only!
c. b cant be because of a, never, as you are having low mileage problem from 2,3 months and if your brakes are the culprit, before 2,3 months they would have been so tight that rear wheel would have been sliding not rotating when you pull your bike off the stand!
Mileage can be that low because of many reasons apart from bike.
You may be not seeing zero at the start of the filling operation, Someone is stealing your petrol, you are miscalculating etc etc.
When you are filling the petrol another guy comes from other side and asks sir, card say payment hay ya cash, you look towards him and your petrol gets filled by the touch of a button even tho your tank remains unfilled!!
These are some cheap techniques bunk operators follow..
Just for information :-)

I will note the RPMs later but coming to your last point, I want to say that:Originally posted by muztariq View Posti m back!

1. I've been filling petrol from that bunk right from the day I purchased the bike. The fact that it's the nearest petrol bunk from my place is the only reason I fill from that bunk.
2. They have separate lines for 2-wheelers and 4-wheelers. They don't ask "Cash or card" because 99% of the bikes that lineup pay by cash and I've seen a card being used only in the 4-wheeler's line.
3. The counter always starts from 0 and I always keep an eye on the counter since I've read about the cheating incidents here on xBHP. Also, the petrol bunk has a fairly good reputation and I haven't heard about any cheating incident. Many of my friends top up their bikes/cars from that bunk. If I had been cheated, I wouldn't have got low mileage all of a sudden.
4. I had taken the bike for a long drive and filled petrol at some other bunk and the mileage figures were similar ie. fairly low.
5. When queuing up for filling petrol. I switch to neutral and switch off the bike. I've noticed that it's takes some force to drag the bike.
Earlier in this thread, I had stated that the SVC guys messed up with my carb and the bike was feeling quite rough. I went back to them, they fixed it and also tightened the brake and lubed the chain. I feel that from that day the low mileage problems started.Last edited by dnyanesh; 04-14-2012, 02:46 AM.Yamaha Fazer [2011]

hei guys i'm facing a small problem, i did a 300kms trip and at the end when i accelerate from 1st or 2nd gear there's a 'TAK' sound from chain/sprocket area.. what could be the reason? its not always there and i lubed the chain before the trip.
Me too have the same problem like one owner mentioned before, on central stand my rear wheel rotates, 1/1.5 times. while on my friends zma, it keeps going and going
chain slackness is correct, rear brake adjusted long back and chain lubed. what's wrong here?
Thanks

My friend recently bought a white FZ-S(2 days ago) and some weird noise is audible from the rear tyre.(like a piece of plastic film obstructing the motion of the rear tyre and causing weird noises) what could it be?
And the GC is faaaar too low!It crosses obstacles(road humps) with a scraping noise and my friend's heart skips a beat when it happens!
I've asked him to change the suspension setting to it's stiffest and increase the Front and Rear tyre pressure by 2 PSI>Is this advisable?!Grocery shopping:2010 Honda Dio.

chain loses good amount of lubrication after 300 km run. If your chain is old(more than 15k) there may be tight areas in the chain which are making that noise.. Uniform lubrication again is called for.Originally posted by christo View Posthei guys i'm facing a small problem, i did a 300kms trip and at the end when i accelerate from 1st or 2nd gear there's a 'TAK' sound from chain/sprocket area.. what could be the reason? its not always there and i lubed the chain before the trip.

Regarding wheel free rotations, even mine is having 1 and a half eotations.. It all depends on wheel and chain weight i think..

My bike had a fall a couple of months ago and it slid around 10 metres and thanks to te absence of the crash guard had to replace a lot of plastic. I had to go elsewhere so it was a friend who took care of all the repairs. There was a bent in the fork and handle bar too. The fork bent was apparently straightened and the handlebar was replaced.
Now the rear mudguard isn't parallel to the rear wheel. Its bent to one side. Thought it was a problem with the mudguard initially. But while driving, the bike seems tilted to the right side (when i leave both hands, the bike moves right). (A couple of friends tried this too, and said the same thing) The handle and the front wheel are aligned properly.
Is this a chassy bend? :s How much would it cost to repair ?
Also i've noted vibrations coming in at around 70kmph and the bike struggles after 80. Reaches only 85 from 80 in the time it used to reach 90 from 80.
Haven't seen any abrupt changes in the mileage though. Bike ~1.5 years old (7000km), haven't been driven much in the last 11 months (mostly once a month, that too ~200km per month). Servicing (mainly chain maintenance) has been regular, oil was changed only at 1000km intervals.

i see.. but mine is just 9k kms old. I ripped the bike with a pillion(all gears), do you think somehow this caused the the problem? and no, the chain is still well lubed.Originally posted by muztariq View Postchain loses good amount of lubrication after 300 km run. FZ-X Preventive Maintenance
Hi all,
i am now inching closer to my pending FZ-X's service in a few days. Had a long chat with Abhimanyu31 regarding the same as now me ride is over 18600 kms, 1.5 years old.
Abhimanyu31 suggested to carry out preventive maintenance schedule along with the general servicing:
1) Replace Front Disc Brake Oil.
2) Grease Swing Arm bushes.
3) Change Cush pads.
4) Grease Cone Sets.
5) Grease Wheel bearings.
6) The usual servicing and topping up of battery.
7) Check the Brake Pads.
8) Check condition of Spark Plug.
For the newbies (I would like to add my name as well in this list), the biggest question is why to go through this headache, if their respective rides have not given any problem so far? However, Abhimanyu31 explained that the soul reason to carry out such an elaborate servicing is to ensure that one doesnot get humongous bills at the later end thanks to corrosion, no lubrication/greasing of such parts xyz....
Out of the whole list above.. the swing arm, tire bearings and the conesets are the least accessed areas and they are the ones whole do quite a lot of work in terms of ride-ability and interacting with the suspension and road. I had a long chat with the head mechanic, Kamla Yamaha Workshop, Lower Parel, Mumbai and he also said the same thing that these are the most ignored parts from the maintenance schedule followed by the owners.
One has to keep in mind though that this elaborate maintenance servicing is atleast 3-4 hrs job flat besides the regular change of oil & stuff, may be lesser time if one's ride is in good hands
.
I would be going in for my FZ-X's servicing hopefully by this weekend or next week and will carry out the same.
Cheers,A quote by a toilet, " use me well, keep me clean, i would never tell anybody whatever i have seen.." :P

in lower gears my new bike used to make the same noise which continued till 4-5k i think.. Its coming from the rear tire.. No worries.Originally posted by Vishwas Bharadwaj View PostMy friend recently bought a white FZ-S(2 days ago) and some weird noise is audible from the rear tyre.(like a piece of plastic film obstructing the motion of the rear tyre and causing weird noises) what could it be?

Cant say if a small increase in tire pressure can solve the other problem he is having.

registration card
Hey frnz,
My FZ is two months old now and is going great guns. Already my bike is two months old and till now i have not received my Smart Card. Yesterday i visited the Yamaha showroom (Factory owned) to tell them about this, they were in no mood to help me out in this. Their reply was "we cannot do anything in this, you will have to go to the RTO and deal this by all yourself". When i raised my voice and told them that this not the way to help me out and asked them to give their Showrooms GM's number, to which they objected and said he will not help you in any way.
After 15-20 mins of head banging with them, they finally took down my chassis number, bike number, my phone number and told me to get back to them after a week once they speak to their RTO agent. When i took the delivery of the bike, i was told that the registration papers are valid for two months and within two months i will get my smart card. Are the papers valid only for two months???
Can anybody highlight what could be wrong????

You can go and check with the RTO guys whether its dispatched. They would be happy to answer your query if you give them some amount or else they will promptly ask you to go back to the showroom guys..Originally posted by devils_friend View PostHey frnz,
