ok, i will have a go at it!
Is your ride rough on throttle i.e bike feels rough on acceleration or just the throttle feels hard..
If the throttle feels hard, get it and the cable lubricated, you will have a better response.. Some rust appear in that area on prolonged lubricant less operation.
If the area is smooth but bikes response is low, you may like to replace the spark plug as that has not been replaced it seems. Though a good sparkplug lasts 30k. But its always better to get it replaced at around 20k or even shorter. Jerks are many at times related to sparkplug/ its connecting wires.. You may like to see the cable attachment to the sparkplug connector, it sometimes gets green color rust which hinders in fluent current passage.
You must be taking care of air filter, engine oil, carb, chain settings etc. so i am just not getting into those aspects..
      Hope it helps.

        • Guys just experienced a strange thing today!
Was on a road trip when i stopped by bike for a butt break.I come back and thumb the starter and nothing happens!.No sound what so ever.Battery is working fine. Finally push started the bike and rode all the way back home 180 kms away from there.Lot of fuel wasted by not switching of the engine on the endless number of signal lights!
What could be the problem?would it be a fault with the starter coil(same thing had happened on a friends bike).
And on an other note, while descending down the hill ,is it ok to switch of the engine and ride in neutral downhill?

+1. Know 2 crashes in the near past involving KL xbhpians because of this act, an R15 hitting down another fellow FZian, next one with RX guy crashing into an Indica. Did this to save 50 bucks worth of fuel, ended up paying 18k for settling the Indica, that severe damage.

Thanks guys.Other than loss of control, would there be other ill effects on the engine?
But something on my first query?

But something on my first query?
there wont be any ill effect on the engine, rather running your vehicle without engine 'on' in neutral will cool down the engine, in one way its beneficial and reduce engine wear.. But the unsafe ride is much more dangerous than any other benefit you may gain.
The engine should always be 'on' when the vehicle is moving(except for the situations when it is being towed)
Also, to save petrol, the safest way is to cut an unnecessary trip and staying home!

Regarding your second query.. I dont have any idea.

I think it is the relay switch (as those svc guys called it ) beneath the seat .

Instead of push starting the bike, put the bike in second gear then place it on center stand. Now rotate the back wheel in forward motion. This should start your bike. Dunno about other bikes but I've tested in my bike(FZ-S) and it works.
