i thought engine roughness.. Its a gear shift problem and should go with fs oil..i had a similar problem with my bike.. Thought first service will cure that but didnt.. I started using ss.. First oil i tested was castrol power 1 ss.. The smoothness imparted was just great.. But after 500 kms same problems started.. Eventually took fs from shell and it went away never to return.. Hope you are facing same ss degradation in some unexplainable way as you have covered 1k on it.. By the way which ss you have?Originally posted by rkakkar View PostWhere are these drive cushes?
That only abhimanyu can tell! :-)
Thanks a lot for a reply! By roughness I mean I have to kinda force it into gear, but at 5K and above it shifts smoothly. How would spark plug affeCt this?Last edited by muztariq; 03-26-2012, 01:29 AM.

guys a little problem, today when lubing my Fz16's chain I put it in the centre stand & was doing cleaning when I noticed that in gear when I press the clutch completely the rear wheel is not stopping.then I stopped the engine, bring the gear back to neutral started the engine...then IN NEUTRAL THE WHEEL IS SHOWING NO MOVEMENT,BUT AS SOON AS I COMPLETELY PRESSED THE CLUTCH LEVER & DUMPED THE GEAR TO 1ST THE WHEEL STARTED TO MOVE WITH CLUTCH ENGAGED.Was not the rear tyre NOT supposed to move when the clutch is fully pressed??please help me on this
does this indicate that my clutch plate life is gone??also the gear was changed without any effort from 1st to 2nd directly(note* the clutch was dumped,I didnot even touched the clutch) & again when I slightly pressed the gear came back to neutral(with clutch engaged)..
sigpicBOND BETWEEN 2 LEGS & 2 WHEELS.....CAN SURPASS ANY BOUNDARY....

weird issue on my fazer.
I was having pickup issues from some time.. Got a servicing done 220 Km ago, carb was opened and cleaned in hopes of finding a fault there. But no fault there. Changed to Motul 300V 15w50 FS. After service the bike was the smoothest I have rode ever..
Two days back I was on a office offsite meet near Lavasa, some 15 km of off roading. Later I tried my hands at riding uphill to Lavasa with a pillion and I could see that my bike was just not pulling through, noticed the rpm's drop in 3rd gear when the throttle was wide open during the climb.
Fast forward today.
Bike feels royal rough. Also started on an incline on first gear, the bike pulled to 3K rpm and then I could notice the rpm's start dropping.
Looks like carb or fuel flow issue?
PS: Fuel tank is almost full. I have checked the engine oil. Still pretty green and going good.Yamaha Fazer 2011 13600km in 8 months and counting

Which grade of Shell FS do you use? Where are you located? I mean I want to know your city temperatures.Originally posted by muztariq View Posti thought engine roughness.. I guess 20w50 isn't right for fz though I don't have enough knowledge.I'm using motul 5100 ester SS 15w50 ,motul 300v FS is also available there are many shops in kolkata where you can find this oils specially in welllington and shyambazar.Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostWhat is the exact oil name? I mean, like 20w50 oil, what is the grade of it? Where would I get it in Kolkata? Any good SS in Castrol range? And price of Shell ax7 and others plz.
One more question a shop owner tried to sell me Valvoline 20W50 FS cost 280(1L) rs I was like
is this a good oil or correct grade for fz?
HISTORY IS NOT ABOUT WHO IS RIGHT BUT ABOUT WHO WRITES IT.......

its air flow issue.. Something is blocking your air filter flow or filter is full of dust.Originally posted by greenknight View Postweird issue on my fazer.

WHAT??!!??!? you clean and lube your chain with engine running and in gear??!?!?Originally posted by cscsarkar331 View Postguys a little problem, today when lubing my Fz16's chain I put it in the centre stand & was doing cleaning when I noticed that in gear when I press the clutch completely the rear wheel is not stopping.then I stopped the engine, bring the gear back to neutral started the engine...then IN NEUTRAL THE WHEEL IS SHOWING NO MOVEMENT,BUT AS SOON AS I COMPLETELY PRESSED THE CLUTCH LEVER & DUMPED THE GEAR TO 1ST THE WHEEL STARTED TO MOVE WITH CLUTCH ENGAGED.......
NEVER, EVER DO THAT!!! Too many people have lost bits of their fingers doing that!
Just spin you wheel by hand, engine stopped! That is IMPERATIVE!
Yes, is is normal, besides that, that your wheel turns when it is on the central stand, in gear and even completely de-cluchted, lever touching the handlebar grip, but you should then be able to hold it with just a light touch, and feel no real effort. The only spinning of the oil is sufficient to give that rotation. Would you, then, feel any torque on the wheel but a really very light one, this would mean you do not de-clutch completely enough, and should tension the cable that little more.

The engine internal modifications are away from the prying eyes of the insurance guys so highly unlikely they will figure it out. However, in legal terms yes souping up your ride does void Yamaha warranty and insurance.
