This is tempting me to go for the upgrade , but I have made up my mind not to spend on this bike anymore ...

o now i remember that road u ppl r talkin bout.....i knew it as NICE road....wen we rode down to Blore n had to go to joels workshop we had used this road....n i was riding ma friends R15....remember touching 140 :-D

I actually wanted to get a good 20P1/20P2 R15 and Joel it when I heard a souped up r15 could beat a Ninja..but then I remembered why I had bought a Fazer instead of an r15(personal reasons )..anyways satisfied as of now..

Bro are those angel eyes with HID projectors?How is the battery holding up with them?

This is unbelievable man! I can only blame it on the lack of proper training.

I visit shell only for re-fuelling. If you want the oil changed in front of you, choose a competent mechanic.

Now, if you are going to have the bike parked for two days and the oil is already leaking, won't you lose a lot of oil. How will you ride back ?

Don't even start your bike without the proper oil levels.

Do this - take your bike to a local mec, if oil is low, push it!

Remove the bolt and drain the oil. No choice.

Get some plumbing thread (white one) from a hardware store and wrap around the threads on your bolt. You can also use electric wire strands.

This will make the bolt slightly thicker. Now fit it back in. If you feel it's not tight enough, add more thread/wire.

Don't add too much though, as you tighten, it will form a fat layer near the head of the bolt.

Get the cheapest oil that is genuine which you can find and fill it.

Keep monitoring your oil levels and go to Yamaha ASC only. They may replace the thread insert.

Well, today I see that the oil is still leaking but, at a slower rate as the engine oil has cooled down. For now, I have kept an empty bottle under the leaking area, I am planning to re-fill that leaked out oil back when I go to showroom tomorrow, (is it a bad idea ? Should I be using only new oil again ? )

As for that bolt, Those SHELL guys itself had done that part, But for some reason, I don't see that it's good enough and the oil is still leaking.

I would say that i would any day prefer the servicing of my bike including a plain oil change to be done at the svc then these bike zones... coz if anything goes wrong i can always catch someone's throat or worse call up backend office and can atleast expect some response to happen.

anyways, i would say just simply pick up one motul/yamalube 20W-40 mineral oil.. (won't cost more than 250-270 bucks!!) and fill her up till you reach the svc and then get the issue sorted out there.. i am not comfortable with the idea of putting leaking oil back in the engine as the oil might have accumulated some dust or grime which may affect the engine badly.

Small things can be DIY provided you know how to do it thoroughly , I mean no experimenting with the bike . But I learnt it the hard way .

Joel was saying they will return from chrome tomorrow. Probably delivered after he returns on monday. I am waiting as well.

It was because that guy had over-tightened it, because of which the threading on the engine side of the oil tank had gone off, and the bolt is not sitting tight any more.

Where do u live in mumbai.....u can try gettin dat part at Santa Cruz Milan sub way.....cos that shop there always has any parts of FZ....or he will get it for u.

What is the symptom of Oil seals gone bad ? I believe you have to be careful on bad roads. Try to get it changed as soon as they become available.

- A warm engine will always feel so. The oil would have reached every nook and corner possible and compression also would have reached the ideal state. I can't explain technically, Sorry.


- I believe it is because most of us are right handed and can distribute the weight that way. I too have had the same feeling.

Have you also noticed that, we always hop on the bike and also push the bike from left.

Try pushing the bike from right and see how uncomfortable you feel

Thought I'll share my horrible experience here.
Today I had been to shell petrol bunk (Whitefield road, Bangalore )to put Shell Advance engine oil. Everything was going, the oil was drained properly. But then the mechanic said the bolt is not sitting back properly. It was because that guy had over-tightened it, because of which the threading on the engine side of the oil tank had gone off, and the bolt is not sitting tight any more.
Initially the SHELL guys said they will repair my bike, But when I inquired the showroom guys, they said it will take at least one full day to repair the threading. SHELL guys stance began to change and the after some time of frustration, I decided I'll file a complaint against shell for damaging my bike.

After I showed signs of lodging a complaint, they said they'll pay for my bike repair. But, They weren't ready to give me any written guarantee for the same. But after persistent request, they paid 700 rs now, and they said they'll pay the remaining after receiving the bill from showroom. I decided not to file a complaint for now.

Having somehow come to an agreement, the SHELL guys put some thread tape and fitted the bolt. Put back the engine oil and then I was off to the showroom. Once I reached the showroom (PANACHE, Indiranagar) I see that engine oil is started to leak. When I talked to those SVC guys, they said they were full and not ready to keep my bike for the weekend and I need to come back on Monday. Since the engine oil was leaking, they gave me an empty can and told me to keep under the leaking oil once I reach home. I will have to refill the oil on Monday and go back to the showroom.

This has been a very horrible experience so far, Just hoping that everything will go well on Monday.

Can anyone tell me if I have done enough on this ? Should I be doing anything else now ? For the bike maintenance or to address the SHELL guys ?
