Pedestrians, dogs, bicycles, or rikshaws, cant flash their lights can they?. and with the low beam you cannot spot them from far and by the time you realize you are too fast something bad could happen. The roads here scarcely have night traffic.

About your advice of switching to low beam and passing on, the guy had HIDs, I signaled him couple of times, yet he was coming on the wrong side of the road and that too from very far, there were no other vehicles in between. I wouldn't say "I will switch to my low beam, please dont hit me.", because I couldn't clearly tell for a moment whether he was overtaking or deliberately coming on to me. What if he did not respond and was drunk. What if he was sleepy and couldn't tell of the vehicle ahead? I tend to reason such way when I do something like that. There are plenty of ways to keep ourselves alive, at times with bad manners as well. The worst of the manners would be going ahead and teaching manners to other road users.

Yes I would have cursed a trucker with high beams, but I wouldn't have attempted teaching him a lesson even if I was also riding a truck, because that would be worst of the manners. Would you teach the other guy a lesson if you were the trucker. would that make you a driver with manners? I wouldn't think so. Think about it and you would know.

Please read the post thoroughly before you reply. plz.

Bro i understand for you fuming over so many people calling your action careless and stuff... but trust me at times its best just to let such idiots cross while you stop and the side and grace them with the finger salute.. there is no point of flashing them back or keeping your bike's beam high...

Anyways, lets not start a flame war on this thread and lets keep it clean. You did what you thought was right at that point of time... but rather than trying to take the comments negatively just try and understand how this would help you and others while being on the road... nothing against you bro..

    All in good faith

Not really, Yamaha back office generally picks up the call within few rings. Never experienced wait time with them and guess what, they listen to you. Unlike the general perception that we'll have to fight with them to make them understand what our problem is, they actually listen and take the complaint without any argument. I respect this demeanor of theirs and try to be as polite as I can.

No the sound I was referring to doesn't occur on standstill , so you wouldn't hear it .

              Hi,
This is due to the faulty cone assembly. I also faced similar problem before, and after tightening the assembly the knowcking sound was gone. Again the sound is back & SVC is asking me to replace the cone assembly. I told them to replace it under warranty but first make sure the root cause is the faulty assembly. Going ot SVC now either I'll ask them tighten the cone or replace it...will let you know...

              • Guys even i am facing the same problem(tak-tak sound) this is my second post, but have been watching the forum for past 5 months, got my bike 3 months back which has not given me a single problem until today, except the tak- tak sound.. During 1st service the SVC guy told me its normal, but now it is making that sound even i hit a small pathole at a low speed..One more thing does the "tachometer" comes under warranty??

I was just saying about the general trend. Not specifically about Yamaha.
It's really surprising that we can get through to a customer service rep fast.

Thanks for the info..The main reason for asking is, my fz's "tachometer" has not been fitted properly, it's a bit loose, when i asked about this in the SVC he said the whole set has to be changed, which i doubt, but if he doesn't have any solution then i will ask him to cover it in the warranty.

A 3 year warranty for the digital console!!?
The fuel indicator and the speedometer are showing incorrect readings. I had asked the svc to check it out during the last service to see if its with the circuit board or any other problem. I really don't know if they checked it. Anyways, they cannot do anything if the board is faulty. No serviceable parts in it. Replacing the board is the only option.
Earlier, the last bar of the fuel indicator used to go off long before going into reserve. Now the last bar does not go off even on a low reserve.
And even if I fill the tank up to the brim, one or two of the larger bars would still not show. As for the speedometer, it shows 70 or 75 even when I'm going at 80.
I am not sure if I can still claim the warranty on it.

Hey man I don't think 10w30 is suitable for our bikes..yamaha recommends 20w40 or 20w50..this oil is too thin..

                              Thin oil = less resistance

the number as u can see it jus a 10 less then the recommended number ie 10W30 and 20W40

So it wont wont hurt as much.....engines have a tolerance level of plus minus 10% on all counts

The only down side i know is that as engine will heat up a bit faster.

But i wanna see the upside if it has any.

B4this is was using 15W50 of Motul n it was brilliant.....engine temp was controlled nicely.

Your right , thin oil = less resistance . More heating ... At higher revs , Quite capable of evaporating the thin film of oil on the parts and hence metal to metal contact occurs and faster engine wear ... If you can take this for the gain , which is what ? higher top end ? ... but 15w50 does seem our best option .
