n i agree with everything you have said in it.....i have had the very same experience right from its top speed being the exact 109kmph to engine vibrations at times to the excellent grip of the rear tire.
But i love this bike too much and wanted to iron out all the flaws so i started pinpointing its probs n improving up on them. Today when she will complete 2 years (by this month end) and ~30000km i am happy to say she is far better then what she was before.

Here is a list of things i did to make it a sweet ride.
Change to a different n better oil then Yamaha Lube.
Got made a foam type filter on the stock unit itself. (after this the vibrations were completely gone up to its top speed of 109kmph and pick up n torque marginally increased)
Did the tuning myself as the service center ppl are nothing but dick heads at solving finer problems
Filled ma tires with nitrogen (its been a month and tire pressure is still the same)
About the average, its between the range of 35 - 42 depending on the way my right wrist moves
And this is the most sweet handling bike which absolutely loves cornering and begs to be leaned into a corner

There is 1 thing i completely disagree with, RE being the ultimate upgrade for bike owner.

Had a chance to ride a RE Electra long ago and the handling felt like holding an angry bull by its horns and trying to make it go the way u want it...leaning into a corner is just out of question (something which i so love doing)

I'd like to add 1 more pointer to The Ugly: Turning radius of FZ is nothing short of a planetary orbit....it has the largest turning radius seen on 150cc bikes
    Thank you.
True RE is not as maneuverable as FZ. But then Re bike is not supposed to do what FZ does. On RE you are supposed to just lean back and enjoy the thumping sound and the comfort.
Also There are more ultimate bikes than a RE. I was just talking from a point of view of say Indian bikes.
FZ cuts through traffic and around corners like a scissor. no doubts there.

Also what you say is absolutely true. Yamaha people are as stupid as donkeys. Once on my very second free servicing I went a little early to pick up my bike from the service station.
The person told me washing was being done. Guess what...
The guy washing the bike was scratching and rubbing the chain "AFTER" it was properly lubricated with a hard bristled brush! And that too with high pressure water jet and soap!
I mean come on... Even a donkey knows better...

Hope that the other "big-bore-boys" will reply to the questions...
Well..I'll share my experience though it would not be very helpful
First difference you notice is the power...I actually got used to it and felt it was like a normal fz/fazer but I rode a friend's fz day before yesterday and it felt SOO slow ..and I have not got the cylinder headwork like others here have..dont know what it does..just the big bore. The stock fz really felt slow compared to my big-bored one.
Mileage varies between 36-40 and I once got 46 but that was when I was sitting as pillion..my friend is very patient
I rip the daylights out of the bike.Smoothness same as stock..

That mileage is awesome ... With added power , it's like having your cake and eating it too ...

P.S : Guys 17250km on the odo and the engine has become harsh ... combined with a drop in mileage from 37-40 to about 28-33 , same riding style and conditions ... All this happened after i switched from the 15T sprocket to the 14T stock ... Now i'm confused , although I do enjoy the low end torque of this setup , I'm kind of missing the more relaxed output from the 15T ... Planning to switch it back . Now I need the sprocket holder for the PULSAR or the UNICORN front sprocket .
People ask me , why are you cribbing about the BHP ? to them I say "MORE is never ENOUGH" xbhp.com

as the bike has HS1 bulb type in both the headlight so i am guessing they should have an empty terminal when in stock.

you can do it by simply connecting a wire form the low beam bulb's socket to the high beam bulb's empty socket and vice versa.

a lot of people have done the same and can be done by any local mechanic nowadays even yamaha technician in some svc's are also doing it.

                          • i guess the drama of weird incidents happening to me bike are of no end.. today while putting the main stand off one of the side screws of the stand came off to my surprise.. not a big deal though.. guess i better go for a temple trip soon :P!!

                            • Mega phone ffe is heer!!

                              Hi All,

received my shipment of Joel's FFE today morning. sharing my happiness by posting some pics. It just weighs approx 1 - 2 kgs just like Joel said..

i am still tied up at work so will try and make the installation possible sometime next week. haven't unpacked the megaphone yet. MITZ if you are listening, expect a call from my end soon.

Unfortunately with good news comes the usual bad news. My phone conked off completely so now have to run either to reinstall the OS on the phone or buy a new BB. sucks to be me!!

Reports shall be up soon by next week

                              cheers
