My last service was at 15K on the odo , and the bike was just brilliant up until very recently when I shifted back to the 14T stock front sprocket ... was running the 15T setup previously .Originally posted by surampudijagadeesh View Post

I think yours are just the symptoms of the air fuel mixture being lean. Try checking that first. It may be due to dirty carb. Get the jets cleaned. Then check the air filter. Then check the end of the choke cable near the carb. The chain becoming bad does not produce the symptoms like harsh sound from engine. As a last resort, you can get the carburetor cleaned by an experience mechanic. Also check for the valve clearance.Originally posted by nand15 View PostMy last service was at 15K on the odo , and the bike was just brilliant up until very recently when I shifted back to the 14T stock front sprocket ... was running the 15T setup previously .

Hi Sathish,Originally posted by sathishholla View PostGuys, Does anyone know the front disc specification for FZ ? Will the XENA security locks work on our bikes ?
You can get the front disc spec at the SVC..or if anybody can share.
The Xena locks are good, but they are too sensitive..irritating sometimes.
Hi Ranjith,Originally posted by RanjithMN View PostYep the stock too goes under the bike.P220' ffe goes through the side that is how i was trying to mount it too
,only then realized.!The "box" is the cat-con-and yeah thats gone too.Clearance remains same.
Yep the length is pretty much the same.Remember,FZ's stock was smaller in length compared to other bikes.
and yeah i think it looks decent too
Since you have already replaced the exhaust, can you post some DIY details. Any things which we need to take care, especially gaskets, mounts if any?Last edited by abhijitkn; 10-14-2011, 12:36 AM.

A new gasket is essential.Costs only abt 60Rs i guess.
Apart from the 2 bolts onto the Head, there are 3 other bolts to remove.2 on each side of the Cat-con and one near the rear foot peg.
Mounting the FFE is again simple. The FFE travels through the bottom and requires 3 bolts.2 at the head and one at the rear foot peg.you might need to adjust the rear clamp.the Center stand will rest on the FFE-which means hitting every time you remove the stand-you will need to put some rubber there or remove the stand.Smoke rubber, not tobacco.

Fitful engine
All
My FZ16's engine has a problem. Unless I keep the engine above 3000 RPM, the engine fires irregularly and eventually dies. I get a lot of jerks while riding. Above 3000, the engine feels very sluggish. There simply is no torque.
I had the carb and spark plug checked by the local mechanic. Air filter too. The bike has done 10,000 Kms and is 11 months old.
I'll need to approach the service centre and in case they tell me the engine needs to be replaced (that is, the cylinder, piston sets), what would be the approximate cost? Would getting Joel's big bore kit be a feasible alternative?
I bought this bike used when it was 8 months old and had completed 8000 KMs. So I suspect the original owner may have abused the bike. As for me, I did 2 200KM+ trips at 80Kph.
Any inputs appreciated.

Thanks a lot....also don't you think rubber will burn due to the heat of FFE? I would rather try to maintain some clearance by adding some kind of stopper at the hinge or use of asbetos / heat resistance cloth. Let me know what you have done unless you have used rubber.

I'm in Pune currently & will be going back to Mumbai after another week or so. But I'll getting the exhaust powder coated (I have asked the FFE w/o chrome, not sure which one he sent though) so it will take some time. As Suggested by Shv, may be you can chek out the FFE at Kamala Mills, you will have a feel of it as well.
Yeap, I have seen the exhaust on R15 & I didn't find it that loud, rather I found few SBK's & Harley's have preety loud exhaust. Not sure the note w/o db killer.Originally posted by RanjithMN View PostLike i mentioned earlier. With the DB KIller it gets much quiter.5th gear @ 2.5k RPM its pretty much silent.Idle-silent and just pull the clutch and again quite
