Has any one fitted an after market air filter in FZ16.....
if yes let me know which model/company ...
possible the pros and cons.. is up jetting necessary after the air filter is fitted...'

Hey Frnds i think my FZ has a serious problem.....
its uses more oil than required.. i use a semi synthetic oil and roughly before 2000kms the oil comes to an end..... everyday when i start my bike in the morning i can see smoke from the exhaust....
today i tried adjusting the carburetor but the screw that needs to adjusted as hard was stone, it wont move in either of the direction...
plz help me...."Love means nothing in tennis, but it's everything in life."

Pros - Increase in bottom end torque right from 2000 rpm.
Increase in Pick up and revz shoot like a turbo kick after 4000 rpm
Can be reused when it gets dirty after a through wash
Cons - Gets dirt faster den stock paper type air filter (2000 km roughly)
all the mentioned above r ma personal experience.

Dude take ur bike to service center or a good mechanic asap.....ur bike is burning oil which is a bad thing.
they will also solve ur Carb air screw prob

I got a chance to check the FE. I have got 43-44 kmpl the last 2 times I checked. Till now I have been feeding her only shell Super Unleaded.
My riding style is somewhat sedate. I don't rev beyond 4k RPM in any gear and max I have pushed till now is 72 kmph.

yup its time to change the chain and the sprockets... average life of the chain and the sprockets is 18-23,000 kms go for the stock ones and dont do experiments
.. so far the reports of the stock are really good.. hope you have been lubricating the chain every 500 kms..

in between i would suggest to redline her on every gear (8.5 - 9 k).. it actually helps keeping the engine healthy believe it or not.. keeps the carbon deposition on the piston and the valves out and is kinda workout session for your engine internals as well... provided you follow the service schedule by the book..
in my case i have done nonstop crazy redlinings in between for good 500 kms and she is still returning a healthy 36-38kmpl.. yet to test the figures post FFE installation results..

i have a doubt that the culprit: piston rings have worn out.. usually happens when the engine is running low on engine oil and yet one revs it like crazy or when the engine has still not set in and one starts using semi synth or full synth.. before 5000 kms and starts redlining or does harsh riding...Originally posted by KOAN View PostHey Frnds i think my FZ has a serious problem.....

get the bike checked immediately checked at svc.. and K&N absolutely no no..
