  • MILEAGE is a taboo topic for FZ series.......

it doesnt matter.... I didnt buy my bike because of mileage. i dont care what my bike's mileage is hell i dont even know what my bike's mileage is. I fill petrol my bike consumes it. end of story.

the point of worry should be when your bike is beaten by an rtr or a pulsar for acceleration......

the point of worry should be when the engine starts overheating in less than 150kms at a stretch.

the point of worry should be when you see white fumes(oil burning), or black smoke(mix of oil burning and a terrible AF ratio).

the point of worry should be when your bike is having trouble pulling you and your friend up a hill.

I bought my bike for the oomph factor, for the looks, for Yamaha's refinement(i hate the vibrations in rtr) and i hate seeing pulsar as a whole especially black ones.

I am happy with the way my bike pulls even with a 100kg+ pillion with me too( not being on the lighter side).

I am happy that apart from one part replaced the bike hasnt given any problem whatsoever.

I am happy with the way it is. I a getting what i paid for.

I will be more happy if Yamaha launches the 250 version. I might consider buying.

    • The best way to get the best mileage is to drive sanely and restrict ourselves from ripping hard which in the case of fz or fazer seems impossible, even more so with Joel's exhaust.

With the stock exhaust the max i could squeeze out was 52 by maintaining the speed of 50-65kmph, very minimal braking(I am used to use the throttle for slowing down and proper gear shifts) and that too on highway. I cant tell the city mileage correctly as I don't like riding inside the cities.

I think it would be the same case with any bike to get the mileage claimed by the brands. It very strongly is dependent on the riding conditions.

A stock FZ should never be beaten by a 125cc..but I am pretty sure that the P135 can give an FZ good competition and even beat it..

no need to stress on repeating your statement..your logical conclusion is right... i am just posting my query based on what i have read from other Joelled bikers ownership experience who initially started with only stage 1 big bore kit (165cc) without any sprocket changes and witnessed a drop in rpm for attaining the same speed their bikes would rev 500-1k more when in stock condition. Hence, the curiosity.

Anyways, i would request Rohan to kindly reply to my query for the same and put a rest to this mundane query that's all.

        Cheers
Hey,sorry for the late reply..gearing remains unchanged,it does 80 at about 6k prm in 5th gear..same as stock.

Yeah it can keep up with an r15 till about 110kmph,but the r15 pulls ahead after that..tested in NICE Road The exhaust should make a huge difference..

So just want to check if that is true with souped up FZ's as well. Kindly check the 'Joelled R15s' threads in the universal section to confirm the same.

          Cheers

          Incorrect!
We have never changed the gearing of any Single R15 till date, except for the race bikes since I run my own close ratio gearbox. The stock gearing is retained even on my own street R15 and all the bikes we have done till date. The engine feels more torquey and punchy that it generally gives a tendancy of going lower on revs for the same speed. Another factor is that with our PowerTRONIC ECU, the tacho error is knocked off and hence the engine will read a few rpm lower than stock. But then, not all have consumed the ECUs. The R15 reads around 7000rpm for 100kph, and a few rpms plus or minus based on your front tyre pressure. If you were fully inflated, then rpm will show lower. Thats all the logic is.

Haha! THAT is why some people get confused, dear Joel!
Saying that, some understand that the speed has increased with the same rpm ....on the same gear, (a miracle that cannot be achieved!) while you should mention that "it gives a tendency of going on higher gear for lower revs for the same speed"!

I appreciate your admiration & love for your Fz but you're clearly doing UNJUSTICE to this mini monster that you own bro.. I dont know from where did your brother got an idea of 3000 kms run-in period but thats an incorrect information buddy, you gotto speed up the beast more then 50 km/hr now atleast when you are at 1.6 k kms.. Other senior members here may give you the logical & mechanical reason for why you need to speed up your bike beyond 90-100 km/hr if you ask but i would just advice speed up your Fz more often now as much as you can.. Dont try to test the top speed directly as you are still not aware of how the bike's handling/braking is at high speeds, so gradually increase the pace of your bike to say 70 kmph den 80 - 90 etc & learn to negotiate your FZ at higher speeds..
Enjoy the marvellous machine you own buddy, dont treat it like a hero honda splendour, trust me it isn't meant to stay below 50 kmph since so long..
                  Cheers!

apart from this there are actually two methods of running in....

                    1. as mentioned by your brother but not till 3000km even a 1000km period will suffice...

                    2. the second method however is exactly the oppposite of the first. it says to rip the hell out of your bike for the first 500km but the speeds should vary and the ripping should not be prolonged but small bursts.

since you have already followed your running in method religiously for the past 1600km.... and i am hoping you have already got the first service done including an oil change got enjoy your bike to the fullest....

                    ride safe..

it is bound to happen.... you would have been better in the beginning of the race and would have been beaten in the last leg where the power at higher rpms come into play. no need to feel sad. just accept the bike as it is and if you are looking for more power you know what to do (get it joeled)....

                            You could Joel the bike
Dazzler is faster than fz/fazer after 60kmph..till then the fz leads, but you could have used the aerodynamic advantage of the Fazer to beat the dazzler after 100..the difference b/w upright and crouching at those speeds is crazy..although you would have looked quite funny crouching down

Crouching does help a lot.. but I wasn't prepared to get beaten.. It never occurred to me that CB Dazzler could beat us.. may be next time..

Yeah, Joeling is the best thing.. but I want to get it done by the Doctor himself and I am not sure how to go about it. I was planning to ride to b'lore myself, but I dont see that happening anytime soon.. may be I'd order the FFE to begin with.. not that it would help me beat a Dazzler, but still..
