Thanks for the advice Ranjith.. I do it the way you suggested but I was waiting for the item since more than 2 weeks .. though i tried rest of the mumbai dealer last few days.. I already keep oil filter and oil in stock before i go for service as I do not prefer the service to be done by Yamaha Srvice centers..

I do not trust the chain and sprocket that is installed at the moment and I am planning to change them within a few months or if i ll have enough money and the chain and sprocket will be available at the svc..

Finally, approached the local parts dealer on Grant Road, Mumbai and found out all the unauthorised parts suppliers have plenty stock of Chain n Sprockets. Checked the rates started with INR 1050 shopkeeper said its a discounted rate. Thought to give a try in another shop the price suddenly fell down to 850 then next shop it came down to 650 but the shop keeper confessed that its not from yamaha but from the VENDOR (i do not understand what exactly he meant by vendor) . However, the packaging of the chain and sprockets were the same in all the shops and it seemed as if they are made for Yamaha. Since the Yamaha dealers are out of stock and out of idea when they will have the stock I decided to buy the chain and sprocket for time being. Costed 580 bucks replacement at local mechanice charge 200.

One thing to note here is that the shopkeeper said those parts are from
                      the yamaha vendor....

But we still do not know if they are genuine and even if they are whether they are any good or QC rejects....

Reason being you got those for almost half the price.... and i am not saying thay MUST be bad but u gotta make sure they are good....
                      how do u know????

                      cheers....

                      • Today visit Kolkata Factory shop with low mileage complain of my FZS. They start the engine and race it hard and confirm there is no issue with the bike and it should give around 50 kmpl easily, where I used to get 35 kmpl.

After insisting they told me to take the mileage test. The service guy take a bottle with a long pipe and pour 100 ml fuel in it. We go for a ride and he told me that first he will ride until the fuel in carb bowl finishes. After that he installs the bottle and ride in speed of 40 kmph, and switch off the engine whenever in signal. Surprisingly the bike runs about 5.1 km in 100 ml fuel that mean almost 51 kmpl. Now again he pour 100 ml fuel in it and I ride and he sat behind. The bike runs just 3.5 km, mean 35 kmpl. I was riding normally between 50-60 kmph.

NO assurance at all for quality.. I showed them to my mechanic and he inspected them well.. and said that set will do.. and after installing the new set of chain and sprocket i today did a ride of around 90 km topped 105km/hr, rode between 70 to 90 most of the path and the ride was as smooth as it used to be wen the bike was new.. you may call it luck but it suited my bike nicely

still i am not suggesting that to anybody... but since they are doing well I wanna try them and check how long can they last.. even if they last 10k kms its VFM is good, isnt it?

Next time I will try and buy the chain and sprocket from a yamaha dealer in advance.. i dont want to take any chances too!

One problem though is , the bill shows they replaced the Front switch assembly , I had asked them to change the disk pads ... but it looks like the sound from the disk is still there ... Its good that the partsa are working nicely....
You can buy them if you completely trust the seller 100%....no harm.

Coz vendor supplied parts directly to the shopkeeper are bound to be cheaper than the company spares....
so just get them from a trusted source....either the SVC or the shop.

                                cheers....

~Rs.500 for service....i mean only for washing and normal servicing....

On another note even my disk pads have gone kaput....even then i hear the metal touching the disk...
I wonder if the brake pad metal should be touching the disk even when the brake is not applied....

I mean i know it touched if the brake pads are new but even when they are completely worn out????

                                cheers...
