Couple of days back, My bike engine was opened up as there was some problem with my bike. The problems seems to be corrected now. BUT, Having said that, I have now facing a different kind of a problem.
The engine is suddenly sounding less like a FZ and more like a Honda Stunner or Unicorn.. It is getting very irritating. Showroom guys say it's expected and it will become normal after 300 odd kms.. Your thoughts on this ? Is this really expected when an engine is opened up ?
    Hi,
For what reason your bike engine got opened?..i meant whats the problem you have faced before..
And how much you have clocked in ODO so far?
What kind of sound is that..where it is coming exactly?

Mention the above details..then it will be easy for us..

Well, I have mentioned the problem below, And the ODO reads around 7.5K now, 1 year.
The sound... Hmmm,. have you noticed the sound of a Honda Stunner produces ?, Like a humming sound. Same here. It seems to be coming in the part of the engine just below the spark plug.

Thought I'll share my horrible experience here.
Today I had been to shell petrol bunk (Whitefield road, Bangalore )to put Shell Advance engine oil. Everything was going, the oil was drained properly. But then the mechanic said the bolt is not sitting back properly. It was because that guy had over-tightened it, because of which the threading on the engine side of the oil tank had gone off, and the bolt is not sitting tight any more.
Initially the SHELL guys said they will repair my bike, But when I inquired the showroom guys, they said it will take at least one full day to repair the threading. SHELL guys stance began to change and the after some time of frustration, I decided I'll file a complaint against shell for damaging my bike.

After I showed signs of lodging a complaint, they said they'll pay for my bike repair. But, They weren't ready to give me any written guarantee for the same. But after persistent request, they paid 700 rs now, and they said they'll pay the remaining after receiving the bill from showroom. I decided not to file a complaint for now.

Having somehow come to an agreement, the SHELL guys put some thread tape and fitted the bolt. Put back the engine oil and then I was off to the showroom. Once I reached the showroom (PANACHE, Indiranagar) I see that engine oil is started to leak. When I talked to those SVC guys, they said they were full and not ready to keep my bike for the weekend and I need to come back on Monday. Since the engine oil was leaking, they gave me an empty can and told me to keep under the leaking oil once I reach home. I will have to refill the oil on Monday and go back to the showroom.

This has been a very horrible experience so far, Just hoping that everything will go well on Monday.

Can anyone tell me if I have done enough on this ? Should I be doing anything else now ? For the bike maintenance or to address the SHELL guys ?
I just got my bike repaired couple of days back. A month back when this happened, The service guys had welded a metal plate on the oil drain bolt. Now they have corrected the problem, where in they have drilled a new oil drain hole for which itseems they had to open up the engine altogether and take the engine to a lathe workshop.

Regarding Engine oil..sure,I will ask joel..
And tire, can we expect any little performance increase due to reducing size(120/80), also what about handling with this kinda small tire..will it affect?..
as per my earlier conversations or rather should i say nagging queries with vishwas sir... nope no change in performance... the bike behaves the same. you shall find all the details you need including altitude sickness of bikes plus what problems you would face if you intend to take your FZ/Fazer 17,000 ft and above in trustvishwas sir's thread to ladakh on an fz.

Secondly, if your bike is overheating and super vibey post 100 kms i would suggest get the engine oil level checked as well..

Just an add on for all those who are looking for a cheaper alternative for lubing the chain look for Zorrik 88 can from pidilite india. If i am not wrong its around 50 - 70 bucks and works wonderfully keeping the chain lubed... all info from vishwas sir's blog.

            Cheers

Try using tyre slime... that should take care of all your puncture troubles.... bit on the expensive side though.. around 500-600 per ltr or something like that. tube i would not recommend although a cheaper option but just simply makes the whole deal of having tubeless unworthy and in a way is dangerous as in when you are doing high speeds and you get a puncture... unlike tubeless where you would lose tyre pressure slowly.. tube tyres the pressure loss will be sudden and your chances of losing control will be much higher..

I am going to give the bike for repairs this weekend and will ask the mechanic to get all the mentioned items verified and done.

Btw, I had replaced the following items about 2.5 months ago:
                      Clutch cable
                      Chain and Sprocket set
                      speedometer console
                      pushrod and torsion spring
                      sparkplug
                      air filter
                      brake pads (rear drum)
                      engine oil

Also, the engine shivers whenever i try to accelerate a bit quicker (not too sudden). I have religiously serviced my vehicle till now not sure what could have gone wrong.

Thanks again for the help and i will ask you some more questions after the bike is serviced ( i m hoping those will be very less )
                      Hi,

So i got my bike serviced last weekend. Here is what they did:
                      - Clutch plates replaced (with boss clutch etc, couple of metal plates too and a torsion spring)
                      - general vehicle service
                      - front fork oil seal
                      - disc brake fluid (emptied and refilled i guess)
                      - rear brake clean & adjust
                      - clutch adjustment

Now the bike pulls freely and shifting problems are gone. No shivering when taking off from low speeds too.

There is one thing that is troubling me though. The toe shifter position is now raised. I now have to raise my toe a lot higher to cause an upshift and also need to raise my leg a bit higher (to place it above the shifter) to affect a downshift.

Is this adjustable? i just want it to be a bit lower so i maybe able to shift a bit easily and quickly?

Thanks again for your time and comments !

This is even a very easy Do It Yourself job: First have you bike on the central stand, and gear on neutral of course, then just undo the nut and take off the bolt on the gear lever on the gearbox, pull this lever off and put it back on with ONE "tooth" difference in the direction you want it. Put back bolt and nut, tighten reasonably...done!
