he he he .. He is pretty much adamant about paying for it as I am against it ... ... It's just the hassle of sitting n watching over it at the SVC that kind of annoys me

whoa! reading your comments, i could say that, the beast has the power stored in it, i think i couldn't take it to its maximum capacity.

        my observation
4th gear - bike easily can reach 85-88kmph with 7.5k or 8k + rpm then it starts growling, so shiftin
5th gear - bike is stable for a while at low rpms, but after crossing 98-99kmph. it again starts growling.
there was no handling issues at all, even at top speed
when my bike was brand new i was easily able to cross 100kmph, but now after 2.5+yrs, it struggles to reach its max.

check the chain slackness, hope the air filter was replaced at 12k kms if you have crossed the mark on the odo, check the condition of the spark plug and maintain the tyre pressure to the company recommended...

          cheers

well the bike wont go to these speeds if you try to take the bike normally.

next time when you are trying to attempt such a thing just redline your bike in every gear and you need a very hard heart to do that coz the bike just starts crying at those rpms in higher gears.... and the time and distance taken by me to reach 126 was like forever....

that was just once when i tried to attempt such thing just to get that keeda of top speed out of me....

I got it to about 120kmph with a fully crouched position without redlining the bike ... but yes it took it's sweet time getting there

                • First Service....

                  Hi People,

I got my bike on 15 oct and now i have given my bike to service today at factory showroom at pune. The very first thing..

                  1. Is it important to change oil?
                  2. SS guy told me to use semi synthetic oil but i choose mineral. Is this fine because somewhere here i read that semi should use after 1000-2000 km and my odo reading is just 650.
                  3. Can i use polishing which are there in market for my bike. Will it hurt my bike color or shining (though i have little scratches ).
                  4. Can we lubricated or clean chain at home as service center charge 200 every time for this.

There are more queries but these are on top so ...

                  Thanks in Advance....

the first oil change is very important as during the run in the engine gets polished and there will be minute pieces of it which go in the oil...

use mineral oil till your next service that is at least 1000km after that you can go for a semi synthetic oil.

if you want to retain the shine and colour of the bike the best thing to do is park it covered and get a box of carnauba wax from any store costs around 300rs per box. use it once a month after a wash.

yes you can lubricate and clean the chain at home....

for cleaning: use wd40 in ample quantities and then rub the sprocket and chain with a toothbrush. you can also use kerosene and diesel for the same.
or you can go for a chain clean liquid from motul one can costs about 450rs.

for lubing: the cheapest option available is used engine oil(although not preferred as there are microscopic metal pieces in that oil which can damage the o-rings)
the other options are grease and lubes. a lube can from motul costs around 450rs. i bought a bottle of lube 2 years back and there is still some left in the bottle....

yes, i did change the air filter, after 14k, now running around 23k+, spark plug need to change it, will go for iridium spark plug(whats your take on that?) .
chain slackness wasn't there as i went for a speed ride after the servicing.
mate i still feel that fz, after some years of riding has lost some kmph's -10/-20. and lost some amount of its power.

"just redline your bike in every gear, you need a very hard heart">> well, i very much like that thumping agression high rpms sound, but sometimes i pity my fz
very well said +10 to that.

yeah we need to ride at higher rpm's to get more kmph's, and for that redline riding is necessary.
and yeah cross wind, inclination of the road also plays an important role in that we need a plain long stretch to get the maxz out of the engine.
