If it wouldn't last for more than say 200 km in city then, most of us would have spent time daily or weekly to change pads and would have changed 150 pads by now

      i didn't mean a brake pad lasting 100km
i meant the old pad in the pic will it last more than 100 or 150 km more
      150 pads = 19500rs
anyways will see how much the new pads last tell me the sings of a worn out pad

There will be wear indicator in brake pad, a deep groove, when it disappears the pad is done.

Hehe,Yeah, you are right.Does it needs a replacement? From the pic, there is still some grip left. or is it due to poor image?

the SVC supervisor checked and advised to change the brake pads
he said that it will last only about 100 kms city
I use like 75% front and 25% rear
              Is this normal
attaching the images of old pad
erm my FZ brake pads are still going strong and should last me 18 - 20,000 kms. I may change rear soon enough say around 16,000 kms as in my last few rides i have been absolutely mean with the rear ones.

However, the life of the brake pads depend purely upon how do you ride your bike and whether the area you are riding is mostly hilly and stuff as such a terrain will require frequent braking. If you want to check on the condition of the brake pads which indicates the replacement time check on a thread originally posted by RanjithMN.. that should help.

Seeing the pics, i would definitely recommend getting the pads replaced immediately... check the rear ones as well

              cheers

i want to know the possible reasons for such early worn out condition
the only hill trip was the xbhp Kerala g2g to wagamon
which i used only the front pads
while returning downhill it was raining and my front brakes were half engaged about 70% of the time
and normal use of 75% front

                    1. maybe your factory fitted pad were defective or they were changed by your mechanic during servicing to put in new pads in his friend's bike.
                    2. your braking is way too aggressive i.e. braking hard and sudden.

you are also saying that the front brakes were engaged while coming downhill. that might also be the reason..... and use a combination of lower gear, clutch and front braking to control your bike while coming downhilll....

Any DOT 4 brand will do good. Since, motul makes stuff specifically for motorcycles i don't think DOT4 oil should be a problem. You can go ahead with the same.

BTW how long have been on the stock spark plug in terms of ODO?? As posted by Lucky Luke regarding the engine internals loaded with tar and muck.. i would soon have the liberty of checking me bikes internals as soon as i head out to blore to get the rest of the mods done. Don't intend to get it opened up as she is still performing decently.

Yep , stock battery ... And yeah spark plug too is stock , as in right from ground zero to now

Thanks for tip ... cheers !

I highly recommend Slime if you are facing to much tire pressure drop in less time. Especially if the tire has suffered lots of cuts n cracks.

I Filled only the rear tire up with it n since last 4 days not a single psi
had dropped (which used to see a drop of 5-6 psi in same time)

For all those ppl who think it would cause performance drop cos it might slosh around in the tire then plz know the Quantity for 1 tire fill up is just 250ml which during normal usage gets equally spread over the inner surface of the tire forming a layer of it.
I'm thinking of this , I need to know where to source "slime" from ...

@sunjay : Dude , thats too early an interval to be changing brake pads ... Mine lasted about 18K kms ... I use the 70:30 routine too ...
