  • Hi Guys,

I had been to small Trip with my FZ for 550 kms. My speeds were between 80-90 kmph mostly and RPM meter was showing between 6k to 7k. The mileage i got was 29 kmpl. Is this the normal mileage for this speed?

My mechanic also told my friend that the rim might get cracked during the bend removal process and be ready to buy a new one if it happens.

I suppose getting your rim fixed would be a better option(get it done at a tyre shop...it would be cheaper)

A friend of mine had got a similar bend fixed and is still running fine...

I dont think the rims are so worse that they would crack while riding.....

      cheers....
I also think the SVC guys are quoting more. Getting it done from a tyre repair shop would cost far less. Also I guess he was talking about the rim getting crack was during the bend removal process and not during riding .

Better to stay stock. Adjusting A/F Ratio with K&N will be a huge task and lots of trial and error. If you have patience, time & can put all the efforts then I will say go ahead.

Looks like you are running rich on A/F ratio. Also what is your current ODO reading? If its greater than 12K then Air Filter might also need replacement.

2day i filled the rear tire with Slime and the Air pressure guy filled her with 54psi (i was talkin on the phone n he had a stone age pressure gauge)
After that it felt like the Pick up had marginally gone up.....and she was very eager to get off the line.
Later wen i saw the tire it seemed too bulging out n i checked the pressure (yes i have a pressure gauge) n saw it touch 54
Got it down to 33 but after that she didn't feel the same in pick up.
        Hi,

is seems the tire guy has put too much tire slime in the rear tire... that is the cause of your bike's slight dip in performance due to the slime slushing inside the tire. Could you please share with us all which brand did you go for and what was the cost. i am sure with the slime in the tire now.. more or less punctures shouldn't be a problem at all.

        cheers

a little too late asking for advice . Presuming you have followed the manual prescribed way of running your bike for the initial 1000 kms i think your bike will do just fine.

no other precautions besides that within another 20-30 kms go to the svc and get the 1st servicing done. Go for Motul 20w 40 mineral oil preferably or if it is not in stock then go for yamaha mineral oil and replace the oil filter with a new one. For the first 6 services you don't have to pay the labour charges for servicing so if the svc guys try and con you kick their a$$es.

          Cheers

                • Hi all,
Its been a long time since I had been in this forum.. I used to be in Trichur,Kerala with my Fz-16 but since then got posted to Chennai. I brought my FZ too. Now the condition of my once perfect bike is very pathetic.....
I used to get around 45-48kmpl and now I am lucky if I get something over 40kmpl..

I daily ride around 12 km and the roads are the worst ever I have experienced.. The bike is now very rusty and squeaky... So was thinking of giving it for service.

Since I stay in Medavakkam, and my bike is Kerala registered, dont have the guts to venture far to good service stations..(blame the efficient Chennai cops)..The nearest Yamaha service station called Raj Yamaha (Thoraippakam) hasn't got a good reputation.

So my question is are there any good service centers for Yamaha in Chennai? I think the oil change for bikes are now provided in Shell Petrol pumps and they would also do the chain lubing.. So is it advisable to the oil change from Shell pump or should I give it to the Yamaha guys itself... Please advice me...

Also the bike is around 2.3yrs and 13000km old. So is there anything I should change or replace. I have decided to replace the air filter.
                  Reduce 1 km/hr speed, add 1second 2 ur life.

Buddy i personally put in the Slime n its not so much in quantity that it will slush around....its just 250ml and after regular riding it gets spread evenly on the inner wall of the tire. The brand name itself is Slime and u get it at a Yamaha Service Center....a single tire bottle costs Rs640.
And ma bikes performance is the same as it was b4...Just that yest when that idiot guy filled the rear tire with 54 psi its pick up increased marginally. Now its back to normal which is quite good

PS - U still have to leme see n hear the FFE datz installed on ya bike.....god knows y u r not calling....i jus wanna see how much difference a FFE does n its sound here is ma No again....9820629158

                            • Hello Friends,

I know the question i am putting up would have been asked a million times now, but seeing this thread go over 1200 pages my sense of research died and had to ask.

I am getting my RedBlack FZ16 (didn't liked FZs over 16) Tomorrow.
What basic changes you suggest for lights and things that didn't came up to my mind yet ?
i like the angel eyes stuff but i am more concerned with light intensity because i would be driving a lot in dark and crappy roads.
You guys have spend quiet and a lot with Yamaha and i trust you guys and xbhp more then the yamaha or the custom bike shop guys.

                              Regards

As u have asked for the light i will put some light in dat area (pun intended )

Go for a 4300k HID kit.....it lights up dark places very nicely
and the Head light unit of FZ is very good...it spreads the light evenly over the road giving u perfect visibility even on thing in your peripheral vision.
The combination of FZ headlamp n HID is unbeatable
I do loads of long distance night riding and the 4300k HID have been the best after market upgrade i have put on ma FZ.
