It is not 1000kms but ~150kms. Also what it means is avoid revving the engine up to maximum power, don't tilt too far leaning into a turn or blast into corners. This gives riders time to get the feel of the new tires, to find the edge, and will give them ample opportunity to find the best road grip for a range of speeds, acceleration and handling use. After your first big ride, check and adjust the tire's inflation to recommended levels after it has cooled for at least three hours.Originally posted by shv18 View PostJust mak sure that you first finish the 1000 kms run-in with those tryes.. once they set in.. you can indeed go crazy on the corners..

The glaze has nothing to do with the grip. Hotter the tire, the rubber becomes more compliant & has a greater ability to interlock with the tarmac, providing greater traction. When the tires are cold the rubber becomes hard & doesn't confirm to the peaks & valleys of the tarmac.Originally posted by nand15 View Postyou do have to break them in , maybe not a 1000kms , but you have to so that the glaze they put on it to make it look good wears off completely, so that the grip level is at it's best .

The day didnt start as well as it should.. While leaving for office saw the news of the sudden demise of Vinu.. The Madmax46 as he was known here.. Saw his first image on hyderabad times some 6 mnths back when he completed the bun burner.. Envied his achievement.. The same newspaper gave the news of his death.. Like all yamaha lovers he also loved the curves and the dips.. He hit a divider on the road and flew 20 feet from the bridge onto the railway track.. Survived coz of his protective gear, was shifted to chennai but couldnt recover and did die on the 14th.
I know this aint the right place for this, but guys be very careful on the curves even if you do that the same place, the same way, the same time, everyday. Only God knows what happened to the road when you were away.
I am learning to ride slow for quite sometime.. But the habit of going fast doesnt go away that fast..
RIP VINU

Race Concepts Goodies
Hi All,
yesterday, i had the opportunity to meet Joel, Race Concepts as i had come down to blore for some official work. We had a long conversation about the future possibilities and offerings from Race Concepts end for FZ and other bikes. I have also suggested him to come up with two versions of FF Exhaust;
1) Full Race Version
2) Street Version (with lower DB noise and that can be camouflaged within the Stock plastic guard.)
For those in Mumbai, soon expect a good recommended mechanic from Joel's end who will take care of the installation of the power up kits and tuning especially for those whom travelling all the way from Mumbai to Blore just for tune ups is nion impossible.
I had a chance to click very high resolution pics of all his goodies for R15 and FZ Bigbore Kit, prototype CDI. Unfortunately he didn't have the mild lift camshaft and race carburetor with him at that time. The hotel wifi connection sucks so shall post all the pictures tonight or tomorrow.

I am more interested for the 2nd point FFE.
Foe normal user like me,who want only performance and not much sound.
Is this possible for "JOEL" or any other tuner who can make a FFE with very good performance and sound like stock?
For PUNE users...there is no hope for us.
JOEL has any plan for PUNE users??

Exhaust tuning is a really deep subject. Not something that can be mastered by just removing baffles or making some pipes welded together.
We will work on an exhaust system that will make good power and yet keep sound levels far lower. However there WILL be a slight compromise in the overall output in comparision to the full tune exhaust system. Will also be a little more expensive as there is more work involved in getting the entire system to work. Its a little complex and time consuming.sigpic

....and don't forget the central stand, please Mr. J-J....as well as an all stainless steel option (price no concern!)!Originally posted by Joel View PostWe will work on an exhaust system that will make good power and yet keep sound levels far lower. Personally (but that's me) I would not care if the muffler can be disguised in a stock one or not: most aftermarket ones look much better. One thing which matters, though: is the heat insulation: our ladies do not appreciate the very common burn mark in the inside of the right leg!!!
Also (sorry to be obnoxious...cough...cough...cough!), but any idea of the time the development of this new product may take (we shall multiply by two, don't worry...gnak gnak gnak!)Last edited by Lucky Luke; 02-16-2012, 11:08 PM.When I do something stupid, my consolation is to know that I'll do the worse one only once!

Race Concepts FZ Goodies
Hi All,
as promised here are the pics of the Kits provided by Joel, Race Concepts. As mentioned earlier, i couldn't click pics of the mild lift cam and the Race Carburetor as Joel didn't have them in stock. Regardless, if one notices the new 180CC big bore race piston is completely a different design done under Joel's specifications to enhance better combustion and more power generation when compared to the stock. The custom CDI in the pics is just a prototype. Joel is planning to design either a cabling switch or wireless key trigger system to remotely access the 8 programmable settings for better power figures as per required.
Pardon the pun for horrible pics.. i am no photographer.. still getting a hang of my SLR
I was indeed impressed with the quality of machining of the kits provided from his end and once the CDI kit is ready from his end will just barge in his workshop and get my FZ-X next set of upgrades.

Hi Asim,Originally posted by asim.mohd View PostCongratulations on the new kit Shv18. Good luck with the installation. Hope you find a good mechanic to get these installed. there is a dearth of good mechanics here in hyderabad and i could not get the new CAM installed on my Fz.
Thanks !
i still haven't gone ahead with the purchase of the kits yet. I just went there to meet Joel and see the offerings from RC's end in between my freetime from meetings. I will directly go to blore with my bike and then get the upgrades done.
There is soon going to be an official mechanic who will handle the installation for the power up kits for Yamaha bikes in Mumbai as per my discussion with Joel. So atleast in Mumbai there won't be any hassle on that front. Don't know about Hyderabad though.

Is it okay to get all the upgrades done in one go? All includes: FFE, Big Bore kit, CDI, Race Carb, cam.Originally posted by shv18 View PostHi Asim,

Cheers,
I know I should contact RaceConcepts for pricing but I want to how much will all the upgrades cost? I don't want exact price. Just an rough estimate to help me start saving for it.
Also, having a official mechanic in Mumbai sounds good. I was a bit skeptical of driving my Fazer down to Bangalore to get the upgrades done. From what I've heard about Joel, I hope his official mechanic is just as good as him, if not better.Yamaha Fazer [2011]

Yup, you can go ahead with all the upgrades at one go. however, if cost is an issue than always start with FF Exhaust and the rest as different stages. the best person to consult would be Joel himself. Pricing and all as per Joel's request i cannot disclose on the thread so would request you directly speak to him at [email protected]Originally posted by dnyanesh View PostIs it okay to get all the upgrades done in one go? Hey buddy
Good work, Well clicked pics i'd say. Good thing u used a DSLR, the details of the pics r quite good.
The 180cc big bore kit has been tempting me for a very long time. Would love to jump for it. Makes me wonder how nice n deep it would sound coupled wid ma FFE
the other day i was @ Fuel station filling her up, then i went ahead to check air, there a guy on R15 2.0 came along n told me, Good exhaust note n asked for details.
M dam sure a 180cc will make it sound a bit more deep

The bigbore and the exhaust system complement each other very well. The power and torque gains are immense, coupled with good fuel efficiency gains as well.sigpic
