as per the jaso list of approved oils savita chemicals etc are not on the list. Yamalube various grades and motul various grades are there.. If they are mentioning yamalube brand name and jaso certified logo it is a good oil approved by jaso, no matter who and where it gets made. Yamaha must have been getting these oils made by motul till now but due to cost cutting must have employed some indian vendors and there is no harm in it.. Global pharma giants like pfizer and gsk gets indian market medicines made from small contract research organisations which they approve - the quality remains the same!! If the label is yamalube sl its the same oil.. But if the label is yamalube xyz something its some other approved oil.Originally posted by deville_56 View Post

Same happening with Yammy too. Label is Yamalube only. Full stock with dealer here is blue bottle, authorized stockist in Kollam had Motul make. I never use Yamalubes
Maybe they are using the Yamalube brand name to make them.Last edited by deville_56; 02-06-2012, 12:59 AM.#RetiredRider

Thanks Abhimanyu !! will ask him about this.Originally posted by abhimanyu31 View PostI am assuming that the pic that you have shown is of a hotter cam that you are going to use with your big bore kit. If yes, then ask your mechanic to remove the decompression mechanism. The only drawback will be that it will be slightly harder to start the bike. Otherwise there should be no problem at all (I have been running my engine without the decompression mechanism for more than a year now without any problems)-AK

Well i ve been using the K&N filter for quite sometime now. While installin i got new jets (117.5main, recommended by joel himself) but they performed badly.. the mixture became too rich. then i reverted back to stock jets and now its fine. performance is more sprightly plus it always gets me tingling when i open the throttle hard... it sounds soo bassy inside the helmet.Originally posted by kinshuk.arya View Posttill now many people have tried the K&N air filter and upjetting as their first performance upgrade.... they do get the sound.... but till now no one has been able to pinpoint the jet size and the state of tune for the upgrade...
just remember to use a 6'' rubber extension hose before fitting the filter. dont fit it straight on the carb. the stock airbox can be ignored thereafter wards.. the extension makes a whole world of difference.. but it kills the sound a bit. this is just a precursor to bigger mods.. a first step actually.. good luck

Bike feels sluggish at low end... False Neutral while shifting up.
Changed the chain and spocket set 5 days back have done 500Km after that. Noticed that the chain slackness is uneven.. Have made two trips to the svc, no help.
I am running MOtul fs 15w50 for the first time... Possible clutch plate issues?
I am planning a SS ride soon. Any help would be appreciated..
Btw I always ride upwards of 80Kmph... Also I am missing my top end at 107.. I could hit 120 earlier.. Hell lot of vibes...Yamaha Fazer 2011 13600km in 8 months and counting

How many kms on the odo? Please check the level of engine oil if the level if low then immediately top it up with the same FS 15W 50 grade of motul. and do get the valve clearance checked. have you replaced your air filter on interval as recommended by the manual? Your rear tire seems to be not aligned correctly a simple adjustment should take care of that.

low acceleration, missing neutral and reduction in max speed is all because of over lubricated clutch plates.. Dying clutch plates when exposed to high friction reduction or a good plate exposed to over friction reduction as in case of car oils is the culprit.. You got that right.. Either replace oil with mineral or get a fresh plate assembly.Originally posted by greenknight View PostBike feels sluggish at low end... False Neutral while shifting up.

Regarding vibrations - I suspect chain set or the tyres are the culprit.

guys i'm thinking about removing the cat con from the stock exhaust. just the cat con, not the end canister. and i have some doubts;
1. is it doable, will it damage the engine?
2. is the stock pipe single or double(one more pipe inside)?
3. is the stock pipe(s) made of steel? (inner/outer)
Any idea how to weld the pipes? also what kind of welding should i do?
I know there are good FFEs out there, but being a student i don't have that kind of money to spend, plus not a fan of loud noise.
please gimme some inputs,
thanks guysYamaha YZF-R15

You may do so at your own risk. A miscalculated designed exhaust may end up doing more harm to your engine then doing any good. You may end up losing power instead of gaining one. Plus a replacement stock exhaust (incase you ever need one) will cost you around 8k+. So rather leave this to the experts then ruining a perfectly stock bike and gather up the cash for the same. You can also pm iceman331 and figure out the exhaust designed by his friend.Originally posted by christo View Postguys i'm thinking about removing the cat con from the stock exhaust. just the cat con, not the end canister. and i have some doubts;

1. yes, the chances of damage to engine are 50:50.
the pipes can be welded back using TIG welding...
people do it on superbikes to save the cash and to get the grunt and the sound.
rossiter has also done it on his R1.... u can get a more idea if you talk to him....
you should take this chance only if you have the cash for going for an aftermarket exhaust or a stock exhaust if things dont go as planned...Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009

I checked another 18 months old Fazer, 9300km on the odo it was butter smooth... The SVC guys adviced me to get back to SS or Mineral... Lets see how I feel. Valve clearance settings were fixed 15 days ago, must be 1500 km..Yamaha Fazer 2011 13600km in 8 months and counting
