    PUC test of my FFE

    And the Day had come which i really feared the most

    THE PUC TEST WITH MA FREE FLOW.

    Stood there biting ma nails thinkin how high the results would be and would i even get a PUC certificate.

    And then the guy jus turned to me n gave the certificate....i asked...done he said yes.

    had a look at the figures n i was astonished.


    Here r is a camparo between Stock Exhaust n FFE results.

    Stock
    Co Monoxide - 0.201
    Hydro Carbon - 200%

    FFE
    Co Monoxide - 0.01
    Hydro Carbon - 150%

    my FEE has lower figures then Stock!!!!!!

    Camouflaged to look stock
    Loud Sound is non existent at cruise
    Performs
    and passes PUC test with lower figures then stock

    The Perfect FFE for city.

    PS - wanted to attach a pic of both the PUC's but the forum restriction for image size to be 19.5kb renders it unreadable.

        Hi,
        Seems to me that there is an issue with the probe (as usual) even though you carried the tests at the same PUC center.
        FFE got to give more emission levels than stock since stock has a Catalytic Converter.

            I am sure I am not the only one who is not satisfied with the Yamalube mineral.. Have read enormous complaints of the oil.. Have experienced very rough gear shifts and engine roughness. Never tried yamalube semi-synthetic (Rs 450) which is used in R15, may be that's better.

            I have got Shell advance ultra (1L) from a gas station in Hyderabad for 750 rs. Oil is great, smooth gear shifts and engine smoothness is commendable. The color and the oil level is the same after 2000 kms. Will last atleast 4000 kms. I dont have access to Motul 300V, that's by far the best oil for the bike.

            Motul 300V is ester based fully synthetic and more problematic for the environment. Shell Advance Ultra oil is also fully synthetic by definition but extremely refined processed mineral oil which IMO is biodegradable (Just thought of sharing it after reading your punchline).

                Hey Guys.

                I am a newbie here....after a lot of research, I have decided to book a new Yamaha FZ 16 (my 1st bike ever!) this week.

                Before I decide on stuff like biking gear, security gear (disc locks etc), I want to be sure of a small thing - Bike colour

                Got the biggest pics of the FZ16 (Midnight black & Lava Red) I could find on the net.

                I feel the shiny new black bike looks better than the shiny new red one. But Is it possible to always keep your bike shining via regular wax polishing (every 2 months) ?

                I feel red has some advantages over black :
                1. When the shine goes off both bikes, the red one will look better since by the virtue of its color, it will reflect more light. black will look more jaded. Kinda like the older black Pulsars out there.
                2. On the road, bike riders are always encouraged to wear some flashy colours so that other drivers are aware of their existence & drive accordingly. A red bike is easier to detect than a black one.
                3. Red => danger or stop. Somehow this is programmed in all of us due to the traffic lights system . Somehow a red bike might find it easier to bring out a faster 'stop' reflex action of other drivers who might be on collision course with it.

                Would you agree ?

                  first of all congratulations for the decision.....

                  secondly the choice of colour always depends on the user....

                  thirdly, the point you have mentioned for the red color is absolutely true...

                  lastly, to keep the shine of the bike for the longest use the following steps:
                  1. NEVER EVER park the bike in sun. if you are a college student or a working professional where shaded parking space is not there invest 250rs in a bike cover and carry it with you while going everywhere. it gives a second advantage apart from protecting the bike from sun. it protects the bike from curious eyes, meddling people (people who like to scratch and vandalise a new shining bike), crow shit and tree sap.
                  2. use a good quality wax (i would recommend Formula 1 carnauba wax) at least once a month.
                  3. dont use rough clothes. see if you can get an old vest of yours for cleaning the bike.

                  I have been doing all these things and still after 2.5 years the shine of my bike is as good as new...

                  enjoy the ride.... ride safe..... always wear a helmet...

                    Can u (or others) plz suggest a mineral oil for fz then? i do not want to spend much on SS though they are better.

                        I am assuming that the pic that you have shown is of a hotter cam that you are going to use with your big bore kit. If yes, then ask your mechanic to remove the decompression mechanism. The only drawback will be that it will be slightly harder to start the bike. Otherwise there should be no problem at all (I have been running my engine without the decompression mechanism for more than a year now without any problems)

                          motul and yamalube are the same.. Only some color difference in them. Both are made by motul. if you want to stick to mineral there is no better option than yamalube or motul.. Yamalube was 250 bucks sometime back. If you want to try ss castrol power 1 ss is 300 bucks and shell ax7 is 367.. Try power 1 ss and you will never go back again.. The 4th gear is changed to 5th at 75km/hr when you use power1 ss.. Using yamalube it is chaged at 60s something..

                            Yamalube and Motul not same now, used to be sometimes back. They changed vendors. They got more than one vendor now. Savitha Lubes makes the crappy mineral ones coming in blue bottle. The squarish black bottle is Motul, but very rare now days.


                            Today changed oil and filter. Motul 5100 10W40

                              thats some info for me.. Thanks.. Is the formula same? I mean does the alternate vendor employed due to rising demand and was given the same technology as that of motul?

                                I don't think it's the same formula. Quality is very much different. Motul made ones easily lasted 2k, this one very rough at the same km range. All they want is same grade, same JASO rating. Honda also got 3 vendors, 2 of them are absolute crap, 3rd one (Tide Water) is too good.
