    Hi Shiv,

Glass wool does not help in the performance. Many exhaust sometimes do not have it. For e.g. exhausts for royal enfield. How did you measured the performance drop after 9000kms? Just felt it or measured it? Also after replacing how much was the performance gain?

    • Received the FFE from Joel at last!
packaging was fine but got the shock of not receiving the db killer along with package!!

my first experience without db killer is wow..its loud and it loves to be revved!
rpm at every gear is higher now and doesnt feel stressed!

      first hand experience-
-the FFE is way lighter than the stock!
-its a flush fit with the stock engine bolts
-the engine drain bolt is not hindered
-the FFE has a added protrusion in order to not hit on the mainstand and therefore no rattles
-the rear brake cable does touch but is not strained
-overall fit and finish seems good
-the Race Concepts name tag is well put and gives an upmarket look.
Our bikes can go from 0 - Stupid in less than "I wonder if this will be a good idea"

Well, other exhausts were not designed with glasswool in mind nor they were designed by RC.. Without the glasswool change, my ride.. There were flat spots 4k-5k, 5.5k-6.5k and the top end was slower than the earlier gains during 4000+ kms.. The moment the glasswool was replaced.. Flat spots gone and top end back.. Now whether you consider feeling it or measuring it I shall leave it to you.. I don't have the technical terminology for it hence, mentioning the same here and the previous post as well.

Anyways, once I get the FFE back from electro plating, will have to refill the glasswool regardless.

        Cheers,

Spot on! Flat spot means a lean spot and a bike becomes lean when the back pressure drops.

Would like to see some pictures for sure, specially focusing
              • on the RC Logo
              • the centre stand area, from below
              • where the rear brake cable touches the FFE

any problems ur facing? Am sure there are none.

              • Its a shame that JJ's much appreciated FFE sufferes from poor finish. Much like the FZ's chassis.
You don't get that sort of problem with the Japanese made systems ie Yoshimura's FZ16 full system, or the European made Leo Vince systems.

Perhaps JJ can look at making a limited run of Stainless steel header pipes and Stainless or even Titanium covered muffler (possibly anodized too?)
I'm sure there are enough people out there who will rather spend the extra $$ on a quality finish than to have to go through the additional time and cost to get the product sorted, Then again there seems to be no shortage of people willing to buy the product as is and complete the process at a later date.

Looks really cool and blingy! Waiting for mine. Feeling really good after seeing the center stand issue fixed. Thanks,Joel! But won't the brake cable and the rear swingarm scratch the FFE when the bike is running?

Already been discussed here extensively.. Go to google, type alternative tire/tyre options yamaha FZ followed by xbhp.

                          • Friends i have a query... Don't quite know if its important or not... For the past few days after riding my Fazer i am noticing some kind of weird burning smell coming out. It smells like rubber. Though i am not quite sure about the smell.. This smell was there from the time i am using the bike. it was less previously but today after i came back from a ride of 60kms with pillion at speed 75-80kmph the smell was really strong. I am not quite sure what is happening. I have asked the service center guys.. They say that this is because of the catalytic converter , yamaha uses some kind of special metal elements inside and there is nothing to worry...

Just another small query guys. When in morning or at stand still after a ride i am idling the bike and then i am revving the bike up and leaving the accelerator instantly some kind of gunshot like sound comes out. And if i look at it(exhaust outlet in complete darkness i can see blue flames just when the sound occurs. Can you please tell me the reason for both the above things.. My bike is 8 months old and 11000kms Thanks in advance to all of you

                            • Fz-S Cone Assembly

                              Hi All,

I replaced the cone assembly today. Thought of lubricating those, but since it troubled me earlier, decided to replace them. And to my surprise, one of the bearing races had a crack.
The top race has 19 bearings while the bottom race has 16.
                              Below are the pictures.
P.S. The crack was developed most probably while removing the bottom race. Otherwise the steering might have locked don't know in which direction!

The burning smell is common if your bike is new.
Blue flames coming out of exhaust means there is unburned fuel in the exhaust gases. Are you experiencing back fire often? It can happen due to lean mixture. Show it to the SVC they will fix it up.

Catalytic convertors are inside the Exhaust and they don't give out any odor. See if any cable, rubber pad,or any such material touching the engine, and had been scalded...On a brisk run the engine outside temperature will be above 90 C,and any plastic, rubber based material even touching the engine will cause the smell.
When you leave the accelerator suddenly to close after accelerating, the air to the engine is suddenly cut off and the residual fuel in the chamber will not burn fully. This will get scavenged during exhaust stroke, and when it hits the hot Catcon will ignite and is heard like a gun shot and in darkness you can see flame come out of the exhaust...In most Keihin carbs., like in ZMA ,there is an air cut valve to take care of this.
