Normally the chain and sprocket should be changed as soon as one of them wears out.... and since flipping the front sprocket changed the way it feels i am guessing the front sprocket is wearing out unevenly..... pls get your ride checked for alignment of the rear wheel and then get the sprocket and chain changed as a whole set.... the whole set costs around 1300rs.... and is normally good for around 22k-25k kms....Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009

Have you checked the alignment of the chain - sprockets?
off center will make sounds + wear out your sprockets prematurely.
Check the chain sits squarely on the rear sprocket while the bike is up on center stand and you are rotating the wheel by hand.
What type of lube are u using, Perhaps try a different type, Also when did u last clean the chain properly? I don't mean rub it down with a rag, Get a toothbrush, diesel and clean each link then lube.2013 Ducati M795 with a few mods in here http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/superbik...95-owners.html

Guys, had a problem regarding the light switch of my FZ.
Yesterday I got my bike serviced and told my problem to SVC guy that "after getting wet in rain the switch doesn't work properly and meter light and the headlight are not ON altogether but pilot lamp & meter light didn't had any problem ".
Post service just when I hit the roads on my way home rain started and the bike's wet again BUT this time a new problem with the light. The pilot lamp & the meterlight is automatically getting ON without any sort switch use.Comment

I had faced the same issue last monsoon..I presume you have never lubricated the switch gears.. You need to spray WD 40/Zorrik88 anti rust spray on the bike's switch gears lberally.. And after sometime, just move the switches to on and off position couple of times without turning on the ignition.. It will not go away so fast.. You need to continue the lubrication everyday for 2-3 days..Once the switch gears lubricated properly the problem will stop appearing.Originally posted by Abhisek View Post

Carb Tuning
I feel the bike is not performing close to its levels and I (personally) feel that my beast requires a bit of Carb tuning. Any leads on good mechanic (experienced in Carb tuning for FZ16) in Bangalore? Would really appreciate if the mechanic is located somewhere close to Banashankari.Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

NGK spark plug will not give any significant improvement in power but just that during winter, your ride will start effortlessly.. Alternatively you can also use G spark, spark plug.. Good stuff.Originally posted by speed1985 View Post

Already ordered for FFE...transferred amount to Joel..But fitting the FFE would mean voiding the warranty on my new bike,right? Its just 6 months old! So do I have to plonk in the stock exhaust everytime I visit the SVC?
This might be a repitition,still,the center stand doesn't hit the FFE,right?Comment

The Mechanic had seen the uneven wear on the leading edges of the Gear box sprockets, and hence flipped it..this makes the trailing edge as the leading edge,and hence sound is not there...however you will get it again in a few hundred kilometers, because you have a worn chain which will now cut the sprocket....If you want , you can drives like this in city and change later, when the sound starts, or when the chain gets cut...Originally posted by segagt_0 View Post

Hello Guys,
I'm out of station. Giving full a week rest to my babe. It's 950 kms ODO. Waiting for another 50 kms and then one oil change.
Finally awaiting to rip the babe to the most.
Disconnected the battery I mean one battery terminal. Hope charge in the battery stays

You don't have to open the switch gear just spray it in between the openings of the switchgears like the signal switch or the light switch.. Both the sparys have an extra long nozzle straw which comes along with the can.. You need to fix it and then can access the internals of the same..Originally posted by gn.times View Post
You can use chain lube.. However, I would recommend the anti rust spray as it takes care of any rust formation inside the gears due to exposure to the elements. Both WD and Zorrik have some lubricating properties as well and cost under 60 bucks INR.. 1) Yes fitting FFE is voiding warranty.Originally posted by SpeedyKol View Post
2) Read the parts covered under warranty.. It is more or less just a marketing gimmick.. Doesnot cover consumables. So unless your engine ceased during run in.. Not much is covered under warranty.
3) No you don't have to take out the FFE everytime you go to the SVC for servicing.
4) Cannot comment about the center stand as I have the old gen exhaust. You can check with user Rylan who has the new batch of FFEs.BTW doesn't bother me personally with the center stand hitting the FFE.

Thank u psr for the inputs.. Actually i've already started to get that sound in the evening so planning to get the whole set changes today. I got a chain sprocket set of rolon from a shop which belongs to my brother and he said it is of high quality. It was written for fzs fz and fazer. I opened the pack and found that the chain was having a master link. But the master link shouldnt be there in the original one I guess. According to my brother it is a high quality one. So should I go for this one or should I go to the ASC and change there only?? Here in our place the ASC charges a very high price for everything.. As I'm from Nepal, the cost of the set from ASC is around INR 1550 and the one i saw costs INR 1250 and that is the dealer price. So I think it is the same thing inside packed in Yamaha packaging and sold from ASC. Yeah,even I though its a marketing gimmick afterall.I had a chat with Rylan,he said a rubber patch will solve it.I though the center stand would wobble and hit the FFE everytime I ride over some uneven surface.Hence I asked.Originally posted by shv18 View Post
