yeah the rolon chains are good... and since it has a master link it will be easier next time to change the chain....Originally posted by segagt_0 View PostThank u psr for the inputs.. Actually i've already started to get that sound in the evening so planning to get the whole set changes today. I got a chain sprocket set of rolon from a shop which belongs to my brother and he said it is of high quality. It was written for fzs fz and fazer. I opened the pack and found that the chain was having a master link. But the master link shouldnt be there in the original one I guess. According to my brother it is a high quality one. So should I go for this one or should I go to the ASC and change there only?? Here in our place the ASC charges a very high price for everything.. As I'm from Nepal, the cost of the set from ASC is around INR 1550 and the one i saw costs INR 1250 and that is the dealer price. So I think it is the same thing inside packed in Yamaha packaging and sold from ASC. What do u recommend?
Thanks for your help and detailed explanations.Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009
Optimus: Red Mahindra XUV500 W8 FWD 2013
Atom: Red Tata Nano XTA 2016
Pumba: Red Harley Street 750

Rollon is a good make in chain and sprocket sets and like you said any service center will try to make money on you...so go ahead and fit the Rollon kit you bought , and ensure that every washer and spacers taken out from wheel ,sprocket mounting are put back in the same order to ensure longer life of components. If any of them is missed out it will cause misalignment of the front to rear sprocket straight line..Originally posted by segagt_0 View PostThank u psr for the inputs.. I am not sure whether Rolon also manufactures sprocket set for FZ. If not then buy the sprocket set from the SVC. It is a well known brand here in India.Originally posted by segagt_0 View PostThank u psr ji and kinshuk.arya for ur valuable inputs. Will get it changed today.

BTW INR 1250 for the whole chain and sprockets set is same as what is charged here in India varying based on taxation across different states.

First 2000 kms W/O the DB killer, the FFE is very very loud... Post 2000 kms once there is significant deposition of carbon on the walls of the FFE inside, the sound dies down further and better. So if you don't want it to be a cop magnet use the FFE for that duration with the DB killer on.Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostYeah, even I though its a marketing gimmick afterall.I had a chat with Rylan,he said a rubber patch will solve it.I though the center stand would wobble and hit the FFE everytime I ride over some uneven surface.Hence I asked.
Moreover,if I have some serious engine issues, then I will put back the stock exhaust and visit the SVC.
You had advised to use the FFE with DBKiller for first 2000kms.Any reasons for that?
Engine issues just don't crop up unless you are not taking care of the scheduled maintenance.. So no need to worry it is safe..

has anyone else faced the same issue...
tried his engineering but unluckily spoiled
the rubber coating of the inner wire, in your case is the rubber coating is fine, get it greased or get the wire changed, i got it changed as mine was unrepairable

That is indeed a ridiculous question.. Shall I just say simply plug and play and don't do anything after that?Originally posted by SpeedyKolSo the sound dies down as the carbon deposition increases?
Any way we can decrease the carbon deposit after a relatively long time? Or changing the glasswool is enough to remove the carbon deposit? No idea, bro! My questions might be stupid too!
You need to change the glasswool after every 9000 kms

You can use chain lube.. However, I would recommend the anti rust spray as it takes care of any rust formation inside the gears due to exposure to the elements. Both WD and Zorrik have some lubricating properties as well and cost under 60 bucks INR.. So its not like you would lose a wad of cash from your wallet.

Got an OKS 601 multufunctional fluid spray, because can't find WD40's small can. Used it and my problem is solved. But still a query - Is it safe to use it ?
Are there any chances that it will harm the plastic parts of the switch panel or erode away the colour (like that DOT 4 brake fluid) if accidentally fell on the Tank cover (actually it did happened
,but till now the colour is ok as I cleaned it immidiately.)

I had sprayed RustLick (anti-rust solution) on my fazer, just like I used on my Pulsar 135 previously. But there was some discolouration of the paint on the rear brake foot pedal. So be careful of what you use, more importantly, wipe off with a cloth immediately. I learnt it the hard way.

It will be available from most hardware stores or Bike spares sales outlet..the Indian equivalent to it is named Zorrick..still if you want to buy on line, try E-bay..Originally posted by singhrohit18 View Postfrnds from where i can get WD 40. is this available online shopping portal. please send me the link......When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Not true, Carbon deposition has nothing to do with the sound. I'm not sure how many kms I clocked but sound remains the same, with or w/o dB killer. If you guys want to shun away the cops, then simply do not put it on, since it is not street legal.
Main use of the glass wool is for heat shielding & sound proofing. Many exhausts does not have it as well. If you want to replace it then you will need to break open the exhaust. Instead you might prefer it to simply replace it.Originally posted by shv18 View PostYou need to change the glasswool after every 9000 kms

will not cause any issues.Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostGot an OKS 601 multufunctional fluid spray, because can't find WD40's small can. Used it and my problem is solved. But still a query - Is it safe to use it ?

I use clear paint to spray it over the areas prone to rusting..works fine.Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostI had sprayed RustLick (anti-rust solution) on my fazer, just like I used on my Pulsar 135 previously. But there was some discolouration of the paint on the rear brake foot pedal. So be careful of what you use, more importantly, wipe off with a cloth immediately. I don't know about your exhaust but in my case the sound indeed died down after 2000 kms... Hence, have specifically mentioned in the earlier post as a "personal recommendation".
The glasswool needs to be replaced after 9000 kms as me and abhimanyu31 have witnessed a slight reduction in performance if one doesnot do that.. May be on technical terms there is some change in backpressure or something.. I am not sure..
@All: I finally decided to send my FFE for electro plating or popularly known as chrome plating..Before I start receiving 10 queries on the same.. please do note that particularly my batch of FFE had rusting issues as the plating was not done correctly and the same was acknowledged by Joel, RC. The newer Gen of FFEs shouldnot have the same problem.
The rusting is much higher in my FFE due to proximity to sea which results in accelerating the rusting process. I have opted for Nickel plating.
Attached are some of the images of the current state of the FFE. Had taken the pics while I was in a rick..
So for the time being had to revert to stock exhaust till I get back my FFE.. Immediately felt weird.. FFE is definitely louder and at the same time now the rev indicator takes time to hit the redline.. Which was not the case with the FFE on..
