Check the following (two persons needed):
You will see that there is a small pipe connected on the top of the intake manifold right after the carb and it's isolating rubber.
There are also two hoses, one connected to the airbox, and one to the rocker cover. This last one actually continues inside and opens by a small hole in the exhaust port, in the cylinder head, right after the exhaust valve. These two hoses and this little pipe are all connected to a valve system situated under the tank.
1- Un plug the small pipe and the hose from the airbox.
2- while one gently tries to blow through the hose from the airbox, another one aspirates from the small pipe near the carb. This should open the valve and allow to blow in the "air-box" hose .

This system is designed so that, when you throttle down, meaning the high revving is still aspirating gas (the depression system of the carb is not fully closed yet - but the butterfly is, blocking air). The mixture is then too rich, but the depression in the manifold opens the valve, allowing fresh air to get right after the super-hot exhaust valve and finish consuming the extra gas of the too rich mixture.
If this does not work, a large quantity of unburnt mixture will get in the exhaust, and an occasional spark (a tiny particle of red hot carbon, or a flame from the exhaust) will ignite it, causing the loud popping sound and the exhaust flames. Very common when decelerating, going downhill etc....

Mind it: some pay money for having this sound and these flames bursting out of their exhaust: looks great in the night in front of mates and girl friends!
Thank you brother ,i will check that... thank you for your response

    • I'm having problems in shifting from 1st to 2nd gear...sometimes its getting nuetral.I mean,I have to use quite a bit of force to do that.Earlier it was butter smooth, but as the engine oil was ageing,I changed from mineral oil (SVC default) to Motul 5100 15w50..still the same problem as before. My ride is 2500km old. Please help!
It doesn't happen if I shift at higher revs though.

It is normal and will die down eventually.. However do get the clutch setting checked once.. Your ride needs to be in motion to downshift or up shift the gears smoothly. When downshifting, if the gears don't engage.. While in motion release the clutch and then again engage the clutch and then attempt to change gears...

          • Pics of my new CDI and Balistics Evo2 Battery.

Note this is a SINGLE 8 PIN plug CDI for the Ver 2.0 wiring.

            This has 9 maps.
0 being no spark/engine immobilized. Good for leaving your bike parked.
1-3 being stock engine and tune
4-7 for more modified engines and
8 tuned to run exotic fuels and for race use.
I run mine at map 6. I've ran map 8 but after 45mins I started hearing metallic rattle sounds (detonation) so i backed it off and very happy with map 6.

I no longer have a redline or rev limit. I have taken it past the red and well off the screen on the factory tacho. Exhaust sounds fantastic and no more bogging down under 5k RPM (even with the yoshi DB Killer installed)
So much easier to rev both on the center stand and while riding.

            Price was Sing $118 (I get a $10 discount) RRP Sing $128.

I don't have a TPS and sometimes I get the red check engine light flashing, constantly illuminated or not at all, 99% the light is just constantly on.
This CDI and coupled with my new Lithium Ballistics battery my engine cranks over so quickly and sounds different (while cranking)

The battery size I got is the same size as the factory battery, however this battery is good to start 1000cc engines. If I wanted I could have gotten the appropriate size for the engine and that would have been 1/4 the size.

One query.. Is it programmable or pre-programmed from the vendor's/manufacturer's end.. I guess the maps are not designed keeping reliability in mind rather extracting every ounce of power from the engine.. How's the overall performance? Are there any flat spots with the various settings that you have tried?

                  • Hey shv18,

How are you man? Just finished short vacation of one week and rode my babe for sometime after return. Did try the Motul 3000 4T Plus 20w 40 and got it after searching almost 25 shops around my city. Some guys here haven't even heard about this name, they say that we sell only original castrol and not any local motal or motur, hahahah. Was very frustrated but finally got in a shop where they sale upgrade parts of all motorcycle. And surprisingly it was not imported but the bottle was fully sealed. Something written like 4T HC-TECH, Under the Authority of Motul France. The cost price was Rs. 274 but it is written savings pack MRP Rs. 25 off and New MRP Rs. 249. And I got this @ dealer price of Rs. 228. I hope everthying will be ok.

Go to engine oil or Motul's distributors page on xbhp.. They have list of official vendors across the state. If you don't find any retailers listed in your city.. Simply mail/call to the closest city mentioned on the list and then can enquire about the retailers from where you can purchase the same..

You can try mailing Mr. Sandeep Bhat:[email protected] from Motul india

i believe, he should be able to help you out..
Motul guys are usually very prompt in responding.

                      Cheers,

I have already stated the reason a few pages back along with pics (see post:http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/motorcyc...tml#post850020).. Yes after getting the taste of FFE one just simply cannot enjoy stock form.. I can feel every flat rpm spots where the bike struggles to go past 85 kmph and then slowly crawl towards 95+ kmph.. Whereas with FFE, she would simply fly past that figure and still have enough grunt to hit 105+ kmph easily.. Its like she is complaining to me ... Anyways, hopefully by Monday I shall get my FFE back and after refilling Glasswool.. She would thank me and rev to glory..

I am facing a new problem now.. One of the old puncture repairs at the side of the tire is giving away again.. And it seems that even after I repair it it will end up putting in micro puncture to let air out.. So now slowly contemplating of replacing the whole rear and front tire post monsoons.. It is indeed a one shot shock to lose 5k+ INR from your wallet at one go but I guess that is the cost of owning a bike/car regardless..

                        Cheers,

5k INR...less than 100 US$, for two brand new tires...!

The sad part of having a Tube less is that in our roads if you hit a pot hole the tire gets caught between the wheel rim and ground and the side wall and the ply gets hit badly...over a period of time it develops micro cracks and starts to leak..There is no permanent cure for this except change of tire, or put a tube inside ...If your tire has 50% life left then go the tube way,and if it is near it's end,say 20% tread left then change it...Just my thought

Like I said, There are 8 maps to choose from.

Maps 1-3 are for stock engines.
                              4-7 for modified engines
8 for racing engine running exotic fuels.

I don't see how you can ask about programmable maps with that information given to you Looks pretty clear cut to me.

As for performance there is NO flat spots, Just the engine wanting to climb in RPM'S.
The easiest way to use this CDI is to use different map settings and find the one that works best with your current bike setup, Instead of trying to tune/rejett your bike to suit a certain number on the CDI.

I was told by one tuner in Philippines, Do not use aftermarket CDI and HID/Xenon lighting kits. The draw on the electrics may cause damage to the CDI. They have found out the hard way. I cannot verify this personally so take the warning with a grain of salt.

                                Hehe,

Slight OT but I would say the monetary economics are different in India compared to other countries.. One cannot simply do a conversion and point out the difference.

I would pay less than $3/- for a McDonalds meal here but would end up paying may be $15-20 at USA.. So that way if convert, I am paying a hell lot more than what I would in India.. Have learnt it the hard way.. So when one visits a particular country say Thailand consider 1 THB as 1(currency of your country) otherwise it really pinches you ..

                                Cheers,
