You can see the + electrode edge/shoulder well worn. The edge on the other side is still a sharp 90deg edge.
Time to close the gap slightly or get new plug.

its overheating like hell. is this due to rich fuel/air mixture?

This exact same thing happened to me once yesterday and I dismissed it as a one-off issue. And my bike was not parked in the rain or anything. I had left it in my office basement parking.

Anyone else facing this or faced it??

yes buddy......evrytime i switch it on......the console light goes off nd i have to play with the damn switch to turn it on......other wise it wont....

nd i dnt have other choice coz i have an open parking system. when i return frm my ofc i have to park it there in rain mostly....but the SVC guy told rain wnt cause ne trouble in electricals.....

Ideally rain will not cause electrical problems unless there is leakage in which case it might short-out the complete electrical system.
Your problem appears more to be caused by the switch-gear on ur handlebar. Just give a call to the SVC guys and ask them to fix it or replace it. It should be done.

            Cheers!!

Rich mixture runs cooler, Lean runs hotter. I guess that if you are running rich then look elsewhere for your overheating issue.
With your sparkplug pic's I simply stated the obvious. There is wear on one side of the electrode, hense the white/grey discoloration.
The spark will simply find the next closest point to jump across. Least path of resistance.

Copper sparkplugs usually wear out after 5-10k kms. If you want 100k kms between plug changes (and hope they don't get fouled by incorrect fuel mixture) then get platinum tipped plugs, But be very careful adjusting the plug gap as if you crack the plat coating then you have just thrown your $ down the drain.

You keep saying its overheating. Get a laser thermometer and take some readings. Compare readings with other FZ's, Take readings from different areas of the bike that you think are overheating.
Currently you have no baseline to use as a comparison. Simply stating my bike is overheating (compared to what??) does not help anyone.

I ride my bike and it gets hot, Believe me I ride it harder than you would ever ride your bike. It gets hot sure, But is it overheating? In my opinion no. Someone else may say its hot but compared to what?

                • Fzs rear tyre suggestion

                  Hi All,

I am planning to change my rear Tyre for FZS.
Tried with diffrent model dont know which one to select.
                  MRF 140/60-r17 cost 3500
                  Pirelli 130/80-17 Cost 4000
                  ContiGo 140/70-17 cost 3750
                  Ceat 140/80-17 Cost 3600

Can anyone suggest me which tyre will suit best for FZ and whether the prices are correct and which one is more worth.

                    Fuel Poured: 9.05
                    Kms Run: 374
                    Mileage: 41.3259

                    Riding Style:

                    Gear Changing : 5-6 RPM
                    Speed Variations: 50-85 km/hr (Sometimes Kissing 106 km/hr)

Loving my babe except few electronic speedo errors.

Guys, had a query about some sound generating post 7k RPM and this sound subsides when I leave the throttle. The sound is like krrrrrrr though it is not loud and can be heard with full concentration. And I'm assuming to hear this sound from the left side front. Any help guys?

as i have already said. earlier [1-2 months ago] it used to heat up in 5-6 kms but not that hot. now it heats up even in short rides [less than 1 KM]. catcon also produces multiple click click sounds @ very fast rate [15-20 clicks/sec like phone's vibrator]. it used to be around 4-6 clicks/second 1-2 months ago

anyways, will pay a visit to svc tomorrow.

                      • FZ problem- Low engine oil level

Posting this issue on behalf of my friend who owns a FZ-S. Today he visited the service center for normal service. His bike is 1.5yrs old and ran 13850kms. On draining the engine oil (Castrol power 1 racing 10W50) it was found that of the 1 lt approx. oil that should be there, only 400-450 oil was there(upon complete drainage). Let me also mention over here that for the last 3months 2100km he never checked the engine oil level.. Guys can you please tell what may be the reason for the low engine oil level(400-450ml). The SC people said that there may be a damage in the piston rings ,and due to such less oil level piston and the crank ball bearings ,piston rings was harmed, and it needs replacement. Approx charges 5500/- INR.. Need some suggestions guys. What may be the reasons and what ever the SC people said is it completely correct....

                          Three things to ask:

Speedo got right by iteslf. Today I travelled around 50 kms and haven't found any fault with the speedo, trip and ODO all are working fine. I called the svc guys and they said to check one last time and if it fails then bring. Third service is 3000 kms or 100 days whichever is earlier. Maybe for me it will be 100 days because ODO is still ~1150 and it's already nearing one month. So should I wait for the fault to appear?

Second is today I whacked the babe till 110 km/hr, there was no strain for her and as she was against the wind couldn't move on further maybe she could have done 115km/hr to the most. The problem I see is @5K RPM and above, there comes a sound like krrrrrrr continuously not very loud but still audible when you concentrate and I found out that it's not from engine and not the sprockets too because I can hear the sweet sound of the sprockets and I feel the sound is somewhere near the carburettor and just to get into detail, I just put the fourth gear and took past the 5k rpm and I couldn't hear any sound but when I get into 5th gear again the sound appears after 5k RPM. Just curious about the sound and can't understand what must be the reason. After doing all these I find that engine heat is normal and there is no sound when the engine is @ idle position. Would be grateful if you can throw some information on this matter.

Thirdly I heard that we need to change the front fork oil after 10k kms according to the manual but what about people like me who ride very less like 10-15 kms a day. Do we have any time frame like @ 10k kms or so and so months or year whichever comes earlier?

                          Thanks

                          Waiting for your reply

Was engine oil filled at last service / or just top up done ?Did your friend actually saw the oil filled in the engine, and thereafter did he check the level.......if the answer is new oil filled and level was near max mark, then only possibility for oil going low is due to engine bore & Piston rings wear..this had resulted in engine oil leaking in to the combustion chamber ...to check this see the color of the Spark plug, it will be dark...insert a finger into the exhaust end , wipe the inside with finger, and take the finger out...there should be dark sticky deposit on finger to prove this...
If all this is confirmed change of bore and piston with rings is the solution for it.
When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

There seems to be some lose connection problem.. would suggest get it checked at the svc won't take more than 1o mins

It is a single cylinder engine.. at certain rpms, little vibes are unavoidable.. nothing to worry about

I would say not exactly necessary.. post 10,000 kms a preventive inspection at SVC will reveal if you can run the front shocks for some more kms or should go for a replacement.. yes after a certain period of time the fork oils do oxidise due to exposure to elements and the properties of the oil changes.. but until the seals show signs of weakness, i feel one can use it..

                                Thanks
