No it shouldn't be a problem i suppose...coz free service has nothing to do with the Spedo besides the Speedo and the engine carries separate warrantyOriginally posted by s_and_m View PostOH! Phew man! Thats a load off my chest.. thanks!
EDIT: Just remembered, I missed a couple of services. Now would it be replaced for free?
@FuzzyLogic: Dude.. 11k for reboring the engine is just not worth it.. u will be f**king up every kind of warranty that u have right now and the thing might not be done correctly. Honestly, do u think u can get 3 extra horses for the loss of no mileage? And if he is thinking about putting in a P180 / RTR180 engine so that the mileage remains similar, I personally feel it would be a very very silly thing to do.. should hav just bought a p180 / rtr180 instead :-/
I would suggest stay away from this mod.. but thats just my personal opinion.
All the best with whatever u decide to do.
Not exactly...yeah they will keep giving you the "No stock" bull**** thoughOriginally posted by kinshuk.arya View Postyes it would be replaced for free but you might have to give them a tough time to get it replaced....
about the mod.. for reboring i think they should be changing the carb to a bigger one and the air filter to K&N(might be)....
and if it is being done by the svc itself i dont think it will void the warranty..
er...well the functioning of Engine kill switch has nothing to do with mileage!but regular switching on and off of your bike can affect mileage...Originally posted by Yamaha FZ View Posthey guys I want to know if using engine kill switch regularly can affect mileage??
Because I am always using the switch to ON or OFF engine
well...all i have to say is...ive never been beaten down by other 150's and never felt my bike stress at those speeds....the only time ive felt the bike stressing is at 110 and +!Originally posted by digitalD View Postg
the other day, a unicorn had beaten me on the road while I was running at almost 97kmph, i think i might have caught him back if i wud've went full throttle, but at that speed I felt the engine was stressing out so, I let him pass on..

i think yours is jst a psychological issue!

nothing like that.. i have done a comparative study of all the 150 c.c. in the country and the fz came out to be the best in terms of power to weight ratio......although their pulling power in the higher rpms is a bit low...Originally posted by digitalD View Posthmm.. thats pretty bad man.. fz and fazers are kind of torque monsters in this category.... so any body who tells you that fzs and fazers are slow on the start dont believe it, step aside and let the bike do the talking...Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009

yeah.. that was my first time at that speed on this bike.. so its quite possible.. i'm planning to try the max speed tomorrow ..lets see how it goes..

or may be i had a pillion on and the unicorn was alone.. so that might also have made a little difference.. ??

hello friends...
im from kolkata and i ride a Yamaha Fazer...rode Bajaj Pulsar 150 for the past 4 years....
my new beast is just 16days old...done 600 kms...changed the engine oil to YamaLUBE semi-synthetic (R15) and the spark plug to CR8EIX @ 400kms...
Initially i was also confused regarding the model no of the IX plug as it is not posted on the NGK partfinder list...
Went down to Wellington(world famous in kolkata for Bike accessories and modification)...had a trusted guy...he chekced onto his catalogue and told me that there was no IX for Fazer/FZ(same "part finder" thing that is posted on the NGK site) but also said that many FZ users hav put on the CR8EIX to their FZ's and dre's been not a single complaint...initially CR8EIX is recommended for Yamaha R15.
Went on with my gutt feeling...bought the CR8EIX...till now no porblem...
I didnot notice any considerable change like better throttle response or increased top end etc etc...may be because its a new bike only 400 kms done when changed to IX...hopefully 3-4years older bikes would revvup and cold starts wouldnt b a problem if fitted with IX. But i would like to draw your attention to one change that i have felt though yet to verify it, is that mileage has increased by atleast 3-4kms...im hopefull that it will further increase after the 1st service since before installin IX i was getting not more than 30kmpl....and according to SVC guys FZ series gives a mileage of 35-40 in city conditions.
Thank You

@m0rph1s
World famous in Kolkata, let me guess.. DEV ?????
indeed NGK Iridium is helps in mileage but brother, 600kms in oddo, not even running in is over and you are doing mods like Iridium and SS oil ??
Anyway, personally I would have prefer to do the same after second service..
Thanks..

actually i was planning to change the oil @ 100kms only...but the mineral grade for fazer(rs220 wala) wasnt available @ my dealer's nor was it available in wellington...waited 4 a few days bt till den the odo already registered near about 400kms...got through the manual and it was written SS can also be used...
planned to change the oil @ 100 because...engine comes tested from the factory on that same stock oil...engine is ripped(in the air...dnt know the name of the testing proceure) for about 2kms in all the gears...friction between the brand new metallic parts causes some amount of metal to erode of the parts which gets deposited in the engine oil and is circulated with the oil in the engine henceforth...AFAIK its better to change the engine oil as early as possible...correct me if im worng
i hav posted pics of my 200kms run NGK IRIDIUM spark plug in the SPARK PLUGS thread under the Universal Threads on this forum...dont kno how to link the pics here otherwise i would hav had done so...if u/anybody interested in seeing the condition of the plug i would request u guys to go to the above mentioned thread...
Would love to get your views on the condition of the spark plugs....
Thank You

Oil change is indeed needed but switching to SS is something what i hear or I would personally prefer is after second service at-least...AFAIK its better to change the engine oil as early as possible...correct me if im worng
Some guys suggest to keep on using Mineral as much as 5k kms, where as I would personally prefer to run at least till second service.
Thanks.

Hmm.. looks like i'm gonna have a tough time at the SVC about the display unit.
A pillion's weight impedes the performance, esp going at the higher 90's where the bike isnt reputed as a puller. Its the mid range where u can really feel a pull on the bike that is so hard that it will rock ur head backwards (i'v felt it.. so i'm mentioning it). Anyways, chill out dude... The Honda is also a wonderful machine. I feel pulls way harder in the top range than the FZ. Again, chill... we shouldnt be racing in the streets. (Though I'll bet u can beat that Uni in a red light GP :P)
And, changing the oil after 100kms was a good idea but changing to a SS oil was not. Mineral oil does not stick to the engine as well as the more synthetic ones do. It is recommended that the engine should get a good exposure to mineral oils in the beginning of its lifetime so that it gets its optimal character and 'sets' in... After this (after the initial wear and tear is done), switching to more synthetic oils (this time to SAVE the engine from more wear and tear as the more synthetic ones stick to the surface more) is a good idea. Switching to a SS type oil as early as 600 kms.. hmmm.. not such a good idea. People recommend switching oil type after 5000 - 6000 kms... not before.
