      • I just called Orion Yamaha in Bangalore and they say that 3 things will be changed in FZ16 free of cost.
        1. Push Lever
        2. Return Spring
        3. Torsion spring

And this is not for all those who got the message. They will check the chasis number and verify whether change is required or not.
Now from the above posts, whats confusing me is that different dealers are telling different things! Whom to believe now?

Thats not true.....I just called one of my contacts in Yamaha India and he said that the company has sent a list of Chasis numbers to the Dealers (only authorised ones) and has asked them to replace the speedo and push lever.

He also mentioned that by mistake the message was sent to everyone but you need to individually go and check with the dealer (the one from where you bought) whether your bike's chasis number is there in the list or not. If the number is present in that list (i.e. specifically the bikes which were manufactured between 08-09) then you will get it replaced.

He also told me that Yamaha India is taking this initiative as a good will gesture.

I'm Vijay from Chennai and I am very new to this forum.I purchased a FZ-S last week (Green and Black) and I am loving it already compared to my Pulsar 150 which I had earlier.I just have a doubt that I need to ask the experts here.

I can hear the engine sound more on the front side of the vehicle rather than from the silencer.also the sound is a bit rattled than the pulsar. Is this a normal feature of the FZ-S or is only my bike having this issue.

                      Please respond,many thanks in advance..
the rattle sound is ok it comes from mine too.....
regarding less sound from the exhaust as compared to pulsar:
the exhaust system of fz's and fazer's is a mid ship silencer...
this is how the technology works:
in case of pulsars and other bikes they have a single straight pipe from the exhaust valve to the end. in case of fzs' if you look under the bike you will find that the exhaust pipe is not straight but zigzag like a worm which helps in reducing the noise. the heavy part is how the sound is reduced to learn more about it google sound harmonics where in the sound waves of opposite phases gets canceled by each other. the harmonics work only in certain lengths of the pipe depending on the frequency of the sound. this length was calculated for the prominent frequencies from the engine and was given to the zigzag part of the exhaust system.
                      hope it clears some doubt

                      • Thank you so much and I am glad to have got such an early reply for my query.the harmonics part was a bit difficult for me to understand, but I got what I wanted-my bike is like any other FZS and I dont have a faulty one.

Hope you will be kind enough to answer one more query of mine.

I dont know whether this is because of riding the pulsar,I find that the clutch play is very less.for example if i need to shift the gear i need to completely engage the clutch and then only it is effective.but in pulsar if i engage half the clutch itself i would be able to change the gears.in pulsar this situation of very less clutch play i used to have only when the inner cable was about to break and so i thought that the inner cable of my new FZS was faulty.

                        kindly advice!!

i dont remember what used to happen initially with my clutch but I was advised by many to not to use olf half clutch but full to change the gear as half clutch takes a toll on the gear box in the long run....
maybe the new owners can help you out here...
btw mine works on half clutch no problems....

                              • guys...i hav a weird problem....
today morning after taking out my horse from the garage, i forgot to switch the fuel knob to "ON" position...i usually reset the trip meter everyday in order to calculate the distance travelled on a daily basis...i dint ride much today...at the end of the day when i was to garage it...found the trip meter read 25.7 kms...dats okay bt the problem is...when i went to switch the fuel knob to "OFF" position then only i realised dat i rode the whole day with the fuel knob in "OFF" position...how could the engine go on for 25odd kms without drawing in any fuel? Is the fuel knob malfunctioning...?? is fuel seeping into the engine in the "OFF" condition as well??
