Yeah. I've been undecided on gloves or handlebar grips. Gloves might be uncomfortable in summers, so still no decision reached..Originally posted by rkakkar View PostInstead of handlebar grips invest in a good pair of gloves...
Ideal world I would have bought em both, but we aint in an ideal world

Fifth Free service Report
Fifth Free Service done today
Kms Done: 4234 (Under utilized I know, havent been on her much last couple of months)
SVC: Pacer Motors Bangalore
Jobs Done:
Chain Lubing,
General Checkup
Rear wheel Balancing (reco'ed by the Service engineer)
Front Disc checking for noise
Oil Not changed (Agip FS still doing a great job)
Complaints Mentioned:
Gear shift (what else, rest are all perfect)
Bill: Rs. 309 (180 for chain lubing + 100 for Rear wheel balancing)
Honestly I didnt feel anything was wrong with the Rear tyre. But I trust this particular dude at the SVC. So I okayed it. Picked up the bike at 3 (Gave at 11:30 No bikes at all actually).
Gear shifts felt OK. But i'm sure the hard shifting will come back after 2-3 days. Braking seems kinda more responsive. I'm hitting 60-70 in short roads in quick times.
Did a 80km run on NICE Road on Sunday. Hit my personal best speed of 110Kmph. And Damn it took its own time to reach. Of course my bulk didnt help things
. Had to crouch and count 100, 101, 102 .... 110 YES...
I feel the bike hits speeds of 85 in decent time. Post that its a snail. But the FS in it ensures super smooth engine perf even at 100+. Absolutely no vibes...
Gimme Yamaha over any Pulsar or Apache any day. FE be damned...Last edited by dude_phenom; 09-02-2010, 08:22 PM.Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...

1. The air leakage issue hasn't been resolved , three days is all it takes from 28 to 0psi ... rear drops about 10psi ...
2. starting problem .... after riding a bit , if i switch off at a signal and try again , all i get is a click , then again , click and after a few tries it starts up ...
3. heats up like crazy ... the RPM settles at about 2K+ RPM after a small ride in the city ...engine sounds extremely harsh ... all this happens at low speeds ... on high speeds it is absolutely smooth with no issues on the harshness of engine ... running agip FS , 2.5k kms old ....
hope this gets resolved soon ...
... oh and btw , dude_phenom 110kmph ??? max ?? i did 120 something with a 100kg pillion
...

Hi Guys!
I am looking for a 150cc for myself, and the FZ is a major consideration.
What I want to ask you guys is that is the FZ (not the Fazer) good enough for touring?
I'd like to take it to Ladakh a few times, and other than that, I'll be mostly doing open highway tours.... (400 odd km per day).
Does this suit the FZ?

There is proof. Havent been there myself. But from whatever little touring I've done I can tell you, the only probs that I've faced are a sore behind and some pains in my palm (negated by use of gloves of course). I've put in a mesh seat cover which negates the sore behind too. But not a lot of other people have faced this problem.
The Machine as such is splendid. It'll handle the terrains for sure. Kindly read the above link for the precautions taken. Read it otherwise too coz it is very nicely written.Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...

i wouldnt recommend you fz or any other 150 c.c. if your budget allows go for a bigger cubic capacity bike as your 400km every day on highways will take a toll on the engine quite quickly....Originally posted by raghavtlwr View PostHi Guys!

That is bad nand. I thought Pacer guys were among the better SVCs...
Ask the SVC guys to the check the battery charging. Might want to check the electrolyte levels now though...Originally posted by nand15 View Post2. starting problem .... after riding a bit , if i switch off at a signal and try again , all i get is a click , then again , click and after a few tries it starts up ...
This I can help. You got to adjust the idling screw (when the engine is warm mind) to maintain the rpm at 1.5k. Lot of guys do it when the engine is cold and hence shoots up when temperature builds up.Originally posted by nand15 View Post3. heats up like crazy ... the RPM settles at about 2K+ RPM after a small ride in the city ...engine sounds extremely harsh ... all this happens at low speeds ... on high speeds it is absolutely smooth with no issues on the harshness of engine ... running agip FS , 2.5k kms old ....
Well for a guy who's graduated from a scooty this by itself is an achievement.Originally posted by nand15 View Posthope this gets resolved soon ...

But I donno. I dont think I'd have gone above 110 in any case. I was driving into the wind (One hell of a windy place NICE road is) may be that was a factor too.Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...

Actually Kinshuk is right. FZ was always meant to be a street bike. From what I've heard from my buddies, the old Karizma is awesome for touring. But my recommendation would be either the Thunderbird or the Avenger. I dont know much about their engines but the seats are bloody comfortable...Originally posted by kinshuk.arya View Posti wouldnt recommend you fz or any other 150 c.c. if your budget allows go for a bigger cubic capacity bike as your 400km every day on highways will take a toll on the engine quite quickly....

What we need from Yamaha is to plonk a 200+cc on the old Enticer and price it at 85k and bye bye Avenger.Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...
