So you recommend to continue with this grade (20W50) oil till its expiration period (2500 km) ??

Was this increase in speed witnessed for change in oil?? And to which grade oil change??

        anyway best of luck!
        Hey RanjithMN
Well the part I do know is ..

        1. twist the A/F screw a bit
        2. start the engine
        3. [if ] THE ENGINE SOUND IS OK && THE KNOCKING IS NOT PRESENT [/IF]
        4. STOP ENGINE
        5. END PROCEDURE
        6. GO FOR A RIDE TO MAKE SURE
        7. [ELSE] goto : step 1 [/ELSE]

I was hoping you could fill me in if I was MISSING something about carb tuning..

really a newbie to biking I am.

            • ^^ if you are tuning an existing carb you can adjust as per the idle screw left as is.

BUt if you wanna adjust the carburettor to perform better for a higher rev range or higher up in the engine rpm, then you need to re-set the idle as well.

                  • @ranjith - you could do that as well.. though i have seldom used that process.. unless i was looking at tweaking it for a good upper end ( im talking about tuning a bullet, and you a FZ , though both carb types are same, 3000 rpm for a bullet is about 100% torque range, and more than 80% of peak rpm, because you wont be revving it above 4000-4200 rpm!!! hehehe!! , now i get you... ).

                          • Yamaha's dealers are mostly below expectations on quality of service. For premium bikes like the FZ, Fazer and R15, which cost substantially more than their competitors, the quality of service is the same as for a moped! From the beginning to the end, from customer reception and service entry to vehicle finishing and handover, everything seems to be below expectations.

I recently experienced a Maruti dealer's service (RNS motors, Bangalore) for a free service. I must say that I was impressed with the way we were received, the vehicle checked, the work expained and at delivery time, work done explained, cleaning explained and test drive with the service advisor. What I also noticed was that this was the same level of service for all vehicles from an 800 to a SX4. There's nothing even close to this level of service at Yamaha or at most two wheeler dealers. They all just seem like a larger scale operation of my small time mechanic. At least my small time mechanic is more approachable and does his work to my satisfaction.

Considering the price of the premium Yamaha bikes as well as the profit for both Yamaha and the dealer, I think they are all just out to make a fast buck, qualtiy and customer satisfaction be damned!
