i dont know about bangalore but yamaha svc in goa is horrible.....

what are the problems that can be rectified in a bike for a better mileage apart from driving style...

Check out the braking section the tips section of x-bhp. Very good info there.

ABS not available on the FZ currently. I think the Apache will be coming out with that, no info about that though. But you can manually perform ABS action (if you practice it). ABS is applying brakes in short bursts so as to not lock your wheels. That is you have to apply and then remove and then apply and then remove. Of course under panic braking this would be the last thing anyone might do. But I have done that a couple of time in a car. Never faced such a situation on bike (touchwood) :-)
ABS is available for FZ @http://www.goforkrp.com/index.php?lay=show&ac=article&Id=538704859

i know that is not an actual ABS which works with a microprocessor....

but this is a mechanical ABS.... but it is better than not having one and besides one does not get an ABS at 650 bukcs....

              • Any body face the same????

I have done nearly 2800 Kms in my FZ, which I brought on Dec 09. I am fine with the riding comfort and handling, but I would like to improve the head lamps, I feel I need brighter beams.. also Is there any way to improve my front disk braking??
Another thing to say is I was able to cruise continuously for a few munites at 110 Kmph.. It was a straight road and I never decreased the throttle..I could feel the acceleration going up...but Once my speedo reached 110, It will go back to 108 then 109 and again 110.. this continued till I brought it below 110.
Also the fuel gauge never gives me an idea about how much oil I have in my tank.. some times it will give the first column blink.. when I stop some where and start the bike again, It may show 3 columns... I am really fed up with this.

for brighter beams there are two options
                  1. go for powerful headlamps of 60/55w rating which would not harm fz electrical systems or the battery and are a direct fit.
                  2. u can go for HID kit which might cost around 2500 but to fit it legally you also need projector headlamps.

then for osram nightbreaker 60/55w headlamps then costs around 700 bucks....

even with the projector you wont have to change the looks of the bike....
it will just look like a tube in the current headlight assembly...

u wont be able to do it on a yamaha service center as fitting a more powerful headlamp will void your warranty if the svc guys came to know about it....

so get it cahnged form any other mechanic....

the front disk in FZ is more than enough....
to ensure effective brakeing u r supposed to use both the front and the rear brakes together....
also you can go for an ABS system for front disk....

Got my stock bulb replaced with a Philips 55w one at my service center itself. Dont think its and issue...

PS: Osram nightbreaker does seem to be the best bulb out there, am not really that happy with the philips one even though its a huge improvement over the stock
