Hello Mates,

I see the right side of the rear tyre is more worn out than the left, in an FZ. Had a friend who actually got the tyre replaced for the same issue just three month after the purchase, but that was back in 2008. the bike now in question is 2012 model and has done 24k's on stock tyre, and has take about 12-15 punctures. Is this a known issue/ something to worry about ?

Muthu Palaniappan - Well, firstly you should consider yourself fortunate.
From what i believe, crash guards serve as the riding gear of the bike.
During a fall, not only do they protect your legs, but much of your body as well. Add to that the protection to the engine, other important parts and also minimizing the scratch brunt. You should have got them installed at the time of delivery itself.

Also, dont think of crash guards to be a bike enhancement or looks retrenching tool. No one is so bothered to notice or comment about your crash guard. That said, think and give more importance to the safety and peace of mind that it would bring along.

As for the scratches that your bike has taken, nothing much can be done for the right edge frame as you mentioned. You can definately get both the silencer covers changed for Rs 400 if it does bothers you.
More importantly, a crash guard shouldnt cost you more than Rs 600. Consider the fact that its less than a percent of what you have paid for your bike.

Hope it helps buddy. Be safe, ride safe and care for your bike the same way you care for yourself. Stay protected and keep your bike protected.
Attaching below a sample pic of the crash guard on my bike.
Cheers.

@flybiker - +100 you are absolutely right crash guard is not for aesthetics. It is an safety equipment installed in the bike.

24k kms on stock tyre is too much. Change them and align them properly to avoid uneven wear of the tyre.

Cheerz!!

thanks for the reply mate!
What tyre would be a good upgrade ?, it should be reliable and not prone to punctures.

The newer stock tyre, Revz-M is said to be better at handling punctures that the stock one. Not as soft as the stock one. You can check that.

Ride safe and have fun.

having a really bad time with my bike....had 2 minor accidents in the last 1 month...both the times fork got misaligned and lots of scratches as well. I'm not willing to risk my it anymore. So I'm thinking of fixing a crash bar. Pls can you guys show pics of your bikes if any of you have crash bars installed. I want a crash bar which will serve its purpose at the same time wont spoil the beauty of the bike a lot. Please help me guys.

and the scratches I have got are on the silencer and on the right edge of the frame holding the headlamp. Doesnt bother me a lot but still any idea to get rid of them?
Bro,
Crash Bar popularly known as Bumper, its a must have !! Have saved my leg and the engine of the CRUX many times.
Should'nt cost more than 500-600 bucks, like our fellow members said, its more of a safety kit than an aesthetic degrade.
Happy mile munching.

Reliable for long runs? The spoilt rubber is on my friend's ride, and mine is a month old with the stock revz, haven't had any issues so far, done 2.5k.

Hi Guys

Guys i need an advice from you all also

Recently my petrol pipe was cut and around 4 to 5 liters of petrol was stolen. The petrol locks that are available in the market are not of good quality and easy to open with any key after a month or so. Please suggest a good company lock and where i can get in Pune.

Finally got my FZ-X's front shocks fork seal and oil replaced. As per RAK's recommendation i got both of them replaced. Kamla Yamaha by default uses Motul 20W fork oil as company recommended one so for me as well, being a Motul fan, i didn't have any complaints. Have attached pics of the same. If you notice the 2nd pic, the fork oil is completely black. As per my conversation with the Head mechanic, this oxidation of oil usually happens faster in coastal areas because of proximity to the sea and the approximate life is around 15,000 kms. So i guess me bike's seal gave away exactly at the time it was supposed to. The new Motul fork oil is golden in colour.

Got the damaged handlebar replaced as well. Got the Motul 300v Fully synth engine oil level checked as well from the head mechanic just to be sure if the level had gone down by any chance. He checked it and gave me a positive feeback. The oil is still golden colour which is a good sign.

The stock spark plus is still in brilliant condition and so are both the brakes so no other troubleshooting for me.

Total Expenses:

1) Fork Rubber Seal: Rs. 314/- (Purchased separately courtesy iceman331)
2) Handle bar: Rs. 230/-
3) Motul Fork Oil 20W (2 cans): Rs 360/-
4) Thorough Washing of me bike: Rs. 100/-
5) Labour charges: Rs. 300/-

Grand Total: Rs. 1304/-

Cheers
Hey Shv,

I am also planning to replaced fork oil for FZ16. Do we need two can of Motul Fork Oil for both fork? How much oil do we require for one fork?

Also can anyone recommend good mechanic as in Gurgaon there is only one yamaha SVC?

Thanks,
Suhel
