ODO @9300km on 1y6m old bike and front brake-pads already worn out? Divya Sharan has covered more than 50K kms on super-man pads (not sure front/rear ones though).
bikashnayak post side photo of brake pads so others can take a peek at those brake pads.

What's the recommended engine-oil grade for this motorcycle? Many reported in Engine-Oils thread that idle-rpm drops when one switches to thicker oils.

Can't find the URL for original Spanish version of Yamaha FZ-16/FZS service manual, help please.

Normally the braking style should be 80% front and 20% back. Most of the time we seldom use the back brakes. We use the front brakes more often. I've changed my front pads twice and still on stock back brake pads. My ODO is 35000 kms.

This manual is super cool , I like those outlined images compared to actual images.

• Fork Oil

Hi everyone,

I am going for a fork oil and fork seal change for my FZ 16 as one of the fork seal has broken and there is a leakage. So can you please recommend any good fork oil which will be good for FZ? what grade should we use for the bike, is it 15w or 20w.

Thanks.

...
fork oil grade : 10w
Quantity : 459 ml per fork

Source : service manual page #119, #120 i.e. section 4-39, 4-40

Get the fork-oil from a Yamaha-SVC itself.

If possible take photos while fork-oil change & share.

I had to take a sharp turn so slowed down to almost 10 to 15 kms/h. The bike shut down due to the higher gear. I did not down shift the gears that also can be the problem.
@bikashnayak I suggest you change over to SS oil Motul 5100. And see if the bike behaves better.

1st week of July coming service I will change to SS Oil. Bike is smooth , no problem at all . Gear shift is smooth ,no heating issue.
As per your suggestion I will try SS Oil now. IDLE RPM is OK set to the recommended manual and set by SVC.
About the DISK PAD I will check from my local mechanic.

I am little rookie to this area I really don't now how to check it.

This was the state of the spark plug when i checked it today. The bike was feeling sluggish , and was not getting started easily. Is the spark plug the culprit? As mentioned in the previous threads, this happens due to wrong A/F ratio. But as i know, the carburetor has never been fiddled with. The bike's getting serviced every 2.5k kms at authorized service center. Had no problems until now but it almost turns off when i stop throttling. It was last serviced 1700 kms ago and had replaced the air filter, to stock itself. What might be wrong?

Most likely:

1. Rich AFR
2. Problem in ignition system
3. using a cold plug, outside recommended range

Wow. Not too good buddy
In addition to the soot you also seem to have oil deposits.
A few reasons I'm able to think of:
• Rich AFR. Can be due to
• Improperly tuned carb. Since you said that the carb was never fiddled with, the possibility is remote but still worth looking into.
• Something blocking the air intake port under the seat. Did you keep your bike documents in that "slot" by mistake? A common error

• Bust piston rings resulting in compression loss and causing oil to enter the combustion chamber and depositing on the spark plug. Try this. Hold a piece of paper in front of the exhaust and ask your friend to rev your engine up hard. See if you find any oil deposits on the paper. If so then sadly your piston rings are bust buddy You will have to get them replaced which requires engine disassembly.

Hope all goes well

Cheers!!

Spark plug was changed by the SVC during the previous service, its just 1700 kms old. In the bill it says " Spark Plug- (NGK-CPR8EA-9)"

Hold a piece of paper in front of the exhaust and ask your friend to rev your engine up hard. See if you find any oil deposits on the paper.

It looks more like carbon soot. There was a bit of black smoke when i started the bike and it stuck the paper. Consequently it reduced, when i held the paper after running it for over a minute, the black soot on the paper reduced. Is that oil deposit?
Its just 18600 kms on the odo , I hardly ride it in trash mode, taken the up most care! can it really be the busted piston rings? Heartbreaking
I am unable to take it to svc due to my exams. Is it advisable not to ride under these conditions?
One more thing, a local mech said, it can be rectified by setting the idling knob right. Shall i give it a try?

Thanks a lot for the response.
