    Please please please help me.
Most of my previous posts were completely neglected but now i am in a very serious problem.

I bought a used fz16 yesterday from online classified from a stranger. Everything on the bike is perfect except the silencer.
There is a small box like thing connecting exhaust muffler and the pipe from engine head.I think it is catcon. This is missing on my bike. The previous owner had removed that box like thing and connected the pipe from engine head to the exhaust muffler directly.
I checked on the other models and didnt find any of such thing on them.I think only fz has got it.

I asked for the price of exhaust assembly ans was shocked to know it does cost around 13000 indian rupees.
I am looking for some used one but chances are very slim.

I tried but something went wrong so i couldnt upload pics.I am trying even now. Yes the box like thing is below the rear suspension.I think it is catcon. How poisoneus the exhaust gas would be without a catcon?I am having backfiring issue.

Looks more of alignment issue. Since you have mentioned that, right side has more wear. Also, i think 25k kms means you can look for changing the tyres.

          Cheerz!!

The catcon is on the right side below the footrest. It is like a big box, look for it. Catcon is required to keep the emissions under control. Also, if it is missing, chances of misfiring increases.

You had not checked the bike before taking delivery?

          Cheerz!!
The real beauty lies in throttle's twist!!

Headlight can be replaced, Head cannot be. Wear a helmet.

Same way I bought I bought clothes and got in a cover and I tried to keep it between me and the tank but it just kept falling So how is it possible carry plastic covers on this bike?

I did check the bike before delivery.I thought its exhaust system is just like other bikes(a single pipe no box between).T he engine was misfiring but the stjpid had made hole on the silencer surface( at the end around the holes) and said it wil be ok after gas weilding the holes.
I thought silencer wouldnt be so expensive so bought it thinking i would change the silencer if gas welding didnt work. But it is so expensive????

dont worry about the mettalic sound its common.

regarding carrying things......use a backpack while travelling....if there is no spillage things.....else u can hang it in the handle bar corners.....if urs a fazer then rear view mirrors will also serve the purpose.

The cost of the exhaust if i am correct is around 8,000 bucks INR in india. One may also look at a salvage/breaker's yard to get the same exhaust at a much cheaper price for around 2 - 3k in India. I guess with add on taxes in Nepal the price has been quoted at 13k. The previous owner you purchased it from had made the exhaust free flow which results in more free revving bike but then in the long run more polluting one too.

You may ask around and look at breaker's yard from UP where a good condition used exhaust will be available up for grabs.

                      Cheers,

Yes i looked for breakers yard (one and only in nepal)but couldnt find any. They said they had few before but now they are sold. They asked me to wait for couple of weeks.

So can i keep riding without catcon?
How harmfull is it to the environment and does misfire do any harm to the engine?

Mileage Run in my FZ-S (55 KMPL)
Thought will share the Mileage test Taken last week which is almost the maximum mileage that can be obtained from the bike.

                          Parameters:
                          Tire pressure: Rear-35 psi,Front-28 psi
                          New Engine Oil
                          New Spark Plug
                          Single Rider
                          3 Service completed

First drove my Bike in Reserve until it finally stopped dry. Then poured exactly 1 liter of Normal Petrol. Drove at an avg. speed of 55kmph.The drive consisted 80% highway and rest in city.
After an astonishing 55 km , the bike came to a halt which concluded the mileage run of the bike.

I know this is not the average mileage of the bike, but this can considered as the best case scenario.Do post your comments on the test.

Misfire or popping sound is nothing but unburnt fuel escaping from the exhaust port and then coming in contact with ambient air. When this happens, the fuel re-ignites causing the phenomenon. Well one should ideally check the spark plug and see if the readings are showing lean tuning. If that's the case then it is dangerous for the bike in the long run. Enough has already been discussed on this thread regarding tuning and spark plug reading, going to earlier pages will help. One has to make changes with the tuning or reject the carburettor to compensate for the lean tuning if that's the case.

To get rid of the popping sound, you may disconnect the AIS pipe (Air Induction System) which feeds additional air to the exhaust port in order to reduce pollution and burn unwanted fuel.

I am not aware of the environmental norms in Nepal so i cannot comment about the carbon emission norms. But if one requires a PUC or pollution control certificate for the vehicle to be eligible on the roads and periodic checkings are done by traffic police.. chances are your bike will most likely fail the PUC test.

                            Hope this helps,

hi guys, my bike's throttle cable is giving a bit trouble since last 2 months. everytime i turned my handle to left or right, engine rpm increases to 4000 rpm. i had solved this issue by loosening the throttle cable by adjusting the nut on the throttle cable mounting on the carb and the adjusting nut near accelerator on handle. this solved the problem temporarily and the problem returned again in a few days. i had asked mechanics to replace my throttle and clutch cable during my last service but they didn't replaced them saying its perfectly normal.
at this time, there is no more space to adjust those nuts as they are in fully open position. My rpm stays at 3000rpm even with the handle bars straight, if i turn it, rpm rises to 5000rpm.

what should i do? get the cable replaced by roadside mechanics? or pay a visit to service centre again?
There is no destination, I just want to keep riding.

Visit to SVC is not required. There is a silver things right below the front brake lever. Adjust that screw and things will be perfect. Looks like the SVC guy might have tightened it. But, make sure you dont loosen it too much. Else, there will be play in the thotlle.
