As i had mentioned in my post, The silver nut which is covered by a rubber tube is already adjusted to full open position. Its not possible to loosen it further. I'll post pics tomorrow if required

Visit the SVC. Looks like you have not done the setting properly. Also, as you have mentioned that, the idle RPM is 3k. This is not ideal. Get the nut setting done at the earliest.

When this happens, the fuel re-ignites causing the phenomenon. Well one should ideally check the spark plug and see if the readings are showing lean tuning. If that's the case then it is dangerous for the bike in the long run. Enough has already been discussed on this thread regarding tuning and spark plug reading, going to earlier pages will help. One has to make changes with the tuning or reject the carburettor to compensate for the lean tuning if that's the case.

To get rid of the popping sound, you may disconnect the AIS pipe (Air Induction System) which feeds additional air to the exhaust port in order to reduce pollution and burn unwanted fuel.

I am not aware of the environmental norms in Nepal so i cannot comment about the carbon emission norms. But if one requires a PUC or pollution control certificate for the vehicle to be eligible on the roads and periodic checkings are done by traffic police.. chances are your bike will most likely fail the PUC test.

            Hope this helps,

            Cheers
            Thanks
I tried searching for some information regarding carburator tuneup.Read a article on ********** and tried to follow it but it was a bit tricky so turned 4 complete rotation from most lean position and went for ride.
Back firing was still there .Is it still too lean?

Or is the malfunctioning exhaust the raeson for the back fire.
There is no PCU test in nepal.Hope i am polluting environment less then those smoke emitting trucks.
            Does the backfire harms engine?
I am riding very properly trying my best to prevent backfiring.

Please re - read what i have written in my earlier post mate... the back firing or the popping noise has got nothing to do with the tuning. For tuning one has to check the spark plug reading. If you want to learn more about the same, please go through the older posts on this thread which will help you in understanding how to identify the state of tune and take corrective action on the same. Without having proper knowledge about tuning, it is best left to the SVC or a mechanic with the know how.

                  Cheers,

Yes you can use steel braided brake lines on our FZ's. HEL Performance is one of the best. The cost of procuring one will be around 2600 - 2800 bucks. Look out for official HEL distributor in India.

                    • Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S

Hey guys, sharing here a small ownership review of my Yamaha Fazer which turned 3 yesterday ie 29th Oct.

To start with, it has been a memorable journey since i bought this Red Hawk home and i have never looked back since. This bike made me fall in love with touring and most importantly it has made me what i am today - a True Biker. And as the tagline goes, its got the touring spirit indeed.

A few things to share from my experience -
                      1) Firstly, respect and love your bike. Treat her well and she will never nag u with anything.
                      2) Always follow the break in period, follow the service schedule, always visit the authorised service centre and most importantly, get your bike serviced infront of u. Except for my first service, i have always been present during all the servicings and trust me, i have learnt a lot about the bike. Plus being friendly with the service centre guys helps a lot as well.
                      3) I dont ride that much, hence covered 20k kms in 3 yrs. 70% of those kms done in touring. After ending my free service, i have been following a servicing schedule of once every 4 months ie thrice a year. Paid servicing should usually be done once in 3-4 months or every 3000 kms.
                      4) For a better chain life, it is advised to check the chain slackness / settings once in 20 days and has to be set properly again. Also chain has to be lubed every 15-20 days or after 300 kms (whichever comes first)
                      5) A few things that had to be changed -
The Battery (after1.5yrs), changed to Exide.
Rear tyre changed to Dunlop at 12k kms.
Chain and sprocket changed at 15k kms.
                      Clutch cable changed twice.
                      Brake oil at 15k kms.
Front brake pads and rear light cable (both once). Thats all..!!
                      6) A few cosmetic mods as well - colored both the front forks and rear handle grab rails to black. Muffler changed from silver to black hereby giving the bike a black-red color combo.
                      7) Mileage of 40kmpl has always been consistent in city riding and around 45 kmpl on highway. Max speed reached was 110 with pillon. My average speed during tours is 80-90 as i feel this range provides optimum performance.
                      8) Lastly, for people who feel this bike is underpowered, well in way you would feel the need for a bigger engine once you hit the highway but still the 150cc serves the purpose pretty decent. This bike is built for the highway, for those who love to enjoy the joy of riding and not the joy of racing. Also, the fairing does help in minimizing the windblasts to a great extent. But again, a bigger mill on this bike would have made it a 10 on 10 bike.

Well i hope my review helps and any questions or queries are most welcome. Attaching below a pic of my beauty clicked during one of my recent tours.
                      Cheers guys. Ride safe.

How many kms on the odo? Check your spark plug condition. Check for water in the fuel tank. Also, the main thing, check for any restrictions near the suction which is right under the seat. Keep that place free from anything.
