Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
A bit offtopic to the discussion here, but can anyone here help me with the following?
Coming from http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/what-bik...onstraint.html where I decide to go for the Fazer. The purchase is due for the end of March. Thank you.So the current plan is to get the Fazer and install Bi-xenon projectors (I dont care about the looks, this is purely for the illumination). I am an electronics graduate, so the electricals, hopefully wouldnt be an issue (I think I have read enough on this and I am pretty confident of doing the rewinding of the coil, changing the RR etc. myself), but I am not so sure about the mechanics. Will the below projectors be retro-fittable into the Fazer headlamp assembly , without having to build any support structures or something ?
1. Projector Headlight With DUAL Angel Eye & Bi-xenon HID Kit ( With H/L Beam) | eBay
2. Car Headlight Projectors With DUAL Angel Eye & Bi-xenon HID Kit ( With H/L Beam) | eBay
Both of them tell that they "fit" H1/H4/H7 bulb (sockets?)
What kind of socket does the Fazer have ? More importantly is it true that i can just plug out my original bulb and put these projector assemblies in their place instead without having to do anything else in the form of modifications ? Will the socket support the weight of these projectors while it was designed for just holding a light (as in not-heavy) bulb ?

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Can I replace the stock front brake caliper with of R15's ? Both bike has same 267mm discs.
I'm doing this simply because the braking sucks, the anti- rattling plate inside the caliper is touching the pistons and scrapped off some material from it.

So now the braking is very poor, the brake pads rattle when I go over potholes, brake lever has a lot of travel etc...
Svc guys told me fz's caliper cost 2k, anybody knows the price of R15's ?
Thanks

Don't know if the caripers can be changed or not. You should check with the svc.Originally posted by christo View PostCan I replace the stock front brake caliper with of R15's ? Both bike has same 267mm discs.

But the disc bigger on FZ/Fazer than the R15. Fz has 320 mm front, while R15 has 270mm.
You can use steel-braided brake lines to make the feedback better. You can use Pulsar 220's steel lines (would cost some 1k) or HEL brake lines (cost 3.7k)
Ride safe and have fun.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Ever since I changed the ball racer bearings on the handlebar, it needs frequent tightening. Else it starts to vibrate while going over potholes. Is it a common issue? It happens only when the front suspension is rebounding after the initial impact. The vibration also happens when braking hard. Need help.

Try beelding the brakes and check for the feedback. Else, go for steel braided lines.Originally posted by christo View PostCan I replace the stock front brake caliper with of R15's ? Both bike has same 267mm discs.

Looks like the ball racer hasn't been tightened properly. Also, if the front suspension has gone kaput, you are bound to face vibrations.Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostEver since I changed the ball racer bearings on the handlebar, it needs frequent tightening. Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Right after I purchased three years back,it had the same vibration problem. Then the service mechanic had forced the two nuts with the rubber gasket in between..then it was set. Now again the same problem has returned. Tightened twice already. The mech said the threading on the T has been damaged marginally during the first attempt. So what should I do? If I need to change, what to change? He said that no need to change T now.but the vibrations arent going.
P.S. : I was present while the work was being done.so no question of fooling around by the mechie

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
AFAIK, FZ motor is bound to make vibes post a specific RPM. I have been facing issues reagrding the same since long. The vibes start at a particular RPM and fades slowly as it moves in higher RPM range. I guess you are also facing the samw issue. There is nothing wrong with your bike, the motor itself is like that. Also, if you are using mineral oil, the vibes are on higher side as compared to Semi Synthetic and Full Synthetic oil.Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostRight after I purchased three years back,it had the same vibration problem. Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
I use Motul Fully Synthetic oil. No way is it coming from the motor as the vibes are felt only while going through potholes and on the handlebars. It is due to some setting in the handlebar.Originally posted by devils_friend View PostAFAIK, FZ motor is bound to make vibes post a specific RPM. Can Yamaha Fzs run 850 km in a single day
Hello guys,
Need some help as i am planning to make a solo trip from delhi to varanasi on my Fzs is it possible to run this machine 800 km in a single day.
Need to know what changes have to make to do such a long run.
I know i can ride for such a long distance as i have done 450 km in a day and practised a lot for it.
Will it effect the engine?
Which engine oil to use?
What should be the average speed?
And at last the nearest svc is 40 km away from my village...
Should i do it or not....?
