Your tyre is wrong and on highway you can change the gearing by changing the front sprocket.

        Brothers,

What would be the ideal time to change the front fork oil and spring? My bike is 178XX kms on the ODO. About 2 years 4months old.
I'm asking this because now I feel that the front-end no longer has the feedback and thus handling suffers. Can it be because of the fork?

        Cheers!!

Every 10k kms (as per manual).

Handling can be affected because of worn out tyre, less air pressure in tyre, mis aligned fork, bent rim, damaged cone-set, wheel bearings. Spring should be fine, untill there has been some mishap and front wheel was hit badly.

@Ishwor : Thanks mate, you said it.The mechanics do more harm than help to our precious bikes. Yes im gonna stick to the 459ml per tube and have a calibrated measure.
I guess the springs have gone bad too, thanks to the previous owner's foolhardiness. Will look to replace that as well.
@accuengineer: The bike has clocked 24300kms on odo, its a 2010 model, bought second hand, so service history is very limited.
Yes, im gonna have a look at the bearing set for lubrication, but can't seem to figure out how to take it apart. Can you guide me on this?
I purchased the full cone set/race bearings at YASS for 225INR, I just hope i havent missed out on any part here. :/

I'm 100% sure the bugger has not had the fork oil replaced till date, even the incompetent SVC has not bothered. I sometimes wonder why these companies provide us the manual and detail out the maintenance schedule when the pathetic SVC do nothing but wash the bike, that too superficially and ruin the bike before handing it to us.

Well, i see this nonsensical attitude from all SVC, YAMAHA/HONDA/KAWASAKI/SUZUKI. God save our bikes.

Got the rear tyre today, Revz-Y. Costs ₹2900/-
Will install the tyre on monday and will revert with initial impressions. I hope its not a puncture magnet like the stock revz.

The mrf dealer also had Zapper tubeless in 140/70 size. But i took the stock spec tyre.

                  Ride safe and have fun.

Today found that right front fork seal broken .. Oil leaked and went to disc Brake Chamber making whole Disc Slippery some how manage to went my Local mechanic and changed the oil of right fork and also changed the Disc oil Bosch DOT 3.
Now the problem I am having is The front Disc Brake is not so effective earlier it was. Earlier My front Disc stop the tyre effectively but now it is taking time more 4-5 seconds feels like still its slippery although the whole brake system including disc was washed with petrol , disc pad was scrub by regmal paper and then dried with machine blower.
Returning home brake didn't work effectively .

I want to ask my bike front disc brake not effective due to using dot 3 Oil (BOSH) or will it adjust automatically according to time. As mechanic Told me he said It will be adjusted automatically .

Also my bike is only 9k and I am not a harsh rider and I don't how come my Front Fork started leaking no accident, no bumps and dumps normal ridding. Still finding/looking the reason can any onyone tell me What reason might be front fork leaking.

About the fork leaks, They even happen to bikes which are ridden very sanely and these are the possible reasons.

                      1. Dust getting settled on the rubber seal which gives way for the seal to leak

                      2. Overfilled fork oil. Even a few ml extra adds to stress on the seal.

                      3. Rains. Yes there is also a chance that water can seep through the seal in some conditions.

Even my R15 leaked it's left seal in a week of buying it and the leak was due to lots of dust at the fork's seal. Good thing that you fixed it right away.

when fork oil leaked to on to my bike's disc, it took a while to get it's bite back. Just needed to adjust my riding style for a few days.

Was the seal changed by the mechanic? If not, the oil will leak again and will cause handling issue.

I am using Bosch DOT 3 and it works without any flaw. What was the reason to change the Brake Fluid? By no means can the Fork Oil mix with Brake Fuild. Hope the bleeding of brakes was done after filling in new brake fluid.

Wash the disc with soapy water and the rinse with normal water, brake will be back to normal.

After the pads have been replaced or scrubbed it takes time for it to return to normal. Ride the bike another 10kms or so, it'll improve. If the problem persists after that get the calipper bled and pads changed also get the brake disk cleaned again for safety.

As to the brake fluid, please ensure that DOT3 is the right brake fluid for your bike. Check the manual. Though if the svc changed it for you its the right one but it doesn't hurt to be sure.
As to why your fork leaked oil, well......... Do you ride on rough roads with pot holes and ample speed brakers? Also do you ride in stop gap traffic a lot and use your front brake more than your rear? If so this is pretty natural if not a bit soon.

Brake pads are porous and absorbs brake fluid, engine oil or any petroleum product like diesel, petrol or kerosene which cannot be cleaned effectively. This is the main reason of the disc brakes become ineffective after getting washed at washing centers where a mixture of diesel and shampoo is used for cleaning. So, replace the pads and clean the disc with detergent or, preferably, isopropyl alcohol.
The usual brake bleeding does not remove all the air trapped in the brake line. So, if the brake biting is not effective as earlier after replacing the pads, bleed the fluid again yourself by siphoning it through the drain bolt i.e. reverse bleeding.
The main difference between DOT 3 and 4 is in the dry and wet boiling points and viscosity which is not much relevant for small vehicles like bikes.

Yes the seal was changed by mechanic he's having Shop only for Yamaha Bike and he deals only in Yamaha Bike giving original spare parts. This is my First fork Oil change ( 1yrs,9Months Old)
I changed the brake fluid because stock OIL was a bit left. This is my first brake fluid change.... Disc was washed by petrol , then dried and again Returning home I washed with soap water. I ride again 10-15km now brakes are little bit effective but not that much which was earlier. We will be going to meet mechanic again tomorrow.

I ride in city normal roads with many speed braker which I hate it... About pot holes very rare when visting to my friends home, stop traffic yes alot. Yes I was riding a lot with front brake earlier when I was New Rider but after getting accident in new year I started making habit of using rear brake after that I never met with accident (Touchwood).
