A possible solution would be to use gel inside the seat. That would make long distances a bit comfortable. That worked for me at least.
Good luck on your long rides

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Instead of spending so much for a windscreen, my recommendation would be to try fitting the as 200 windscreen. It costs some ₹400 and doesn't look bad.. Someone in this forum has already done it & he was quite satisfied.Originally posted by Naveen Vajja View PostThe Stock ones I agree .... but after market like these !!!

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Guys, I think I am in trouble and need some help / suggestions.
The downshifts on my motorcycle (fz16 v1 2014) are of late 'backfiring'. I mean after shifting down from say 2nd to 1st, with increasing frequency, there is a loud 'khat' sound as if the gear failed to engage. Further, I now notice that I can roll the bike (with little resistance) even when in gear and switched off. No issues whatsoever on upshifts but the downshifts are giving me the creeps. The amount of engine braking has also reduced.
Some of my fellow riders suggested that either the transmission / gear box has gone kapoot. I have done a fair bit of long distance riding on real bad roads recently, requiring frequent downshifts to avoid getting clobbered by potholes and loose surface. I will be taking it to the SVC but wanted some guidance to avoid getting ripped off by them. I would also want to point out that after the 600 kms ride I did last weekend ( half of it on horrid roads), I went for an engine oil change only to discover that bare 150ml was drained!! 750ml had vanished somehow. Shocking as I never exceed 2500 kms without changing oil. I have always used Castrol Power 1 Racing.
Guidance requested!

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
I am unable to understand what do you mean by frequency here , If you are at 30-40 kmph and shift to 1st it will make loud sound because you are forcing the gear to engage , first gear is meant for speeds 0-10kmph only. About that rolling the bike in gear , its normal.Guys, I think I am in trouble and need some help / suggestions.

I have driven my splendor in no road condition for atleast of 2k kms . Nothing happened. Gearbox going kaput? . You will give up before gearbox gives up my friend. Some of my fellow riders suggested that either the transmission / gear box has gone kapoot. Is there an oil leak ?
If no then your engine is consuming oil. Probably piston rings are gone.
Post a pic of spark plug after day's commute it will reveal the story loud and clear

Thanks for the reply Rohit!
I tour / ride a decent bit. Or at least I think I do. Almost 20,000 kms in under 2 years. Pretty sure i'll never give up
But the bike could, and I take bloody good care of her (Black Bird) to ensure it rarely happens. Its survived two crashes in two days (a record of some sort surely), bent, twisted and scarred, she still carried a broken me back almost 500 kms in a day from the cornering valley of Patratu to home in Calcutta. Full riding gear saved my a**. But I digress, It runs a lot, and I was wondering if the gearbox / transmission etc could have reached their end life after a fair bit of abuse thanks to the shit roads populating East of the country. I do also rip it occasionally on the highways over the weekend. There are no oil leaks and the bike still does 100kmph at around 6800 rpm. I do keep a close eye / ear over how it sounds and feels. I doubt piston rings would have gone bust :/ .. I will check the spart plug though as you asked.
I meant that the frequency of downshift misses is increasing and I shift to 1st around 10-15kmph.
But, a switched off bike rolling when in gear is normal?

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
First of all, your clutch settings is towards the tighter side. Try loosen the clutch cable will solve the issue. Rotate the lock nuts towards down about 1-1.5 turns and similarly, adjust freeplay from clutch lever lock nuts settings.Originally posted by ALI.R View PostGuys, I think I am in trouble and need some help / suggestions.

2ndly, do not use castrol, they are not genuine castrol, use motul 7100 10w40 and drain it after 5000km, price 800/-. Using 10w40 oil will increase mileage and initial pick up, but not suitable for 100+ cruising at highway for long runs.

Self switch doesn't responding after bike warmed up. That is, in cold morning start, self is working fine, after 5km run, self starter not responding, but horn, headlight all are okay. What can be happened?Regards

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
A fresh issue is happening. My bike works well in cold conditions. But when it becomes hot, the engine stalls. After some 30 seconds using choke, it starts again. Whats must be the issue? Rich? Lean?RVM is a good tool to see your buddys losing behind while racing :)
