  • Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S

Hi all, I have fitted the FZS v1 windshield on my FZ16.

Total charges are Rs.500 including labour.

    Visor: 140
    Clamps: 150
    Nuts: 39*4

Just sharing as I searched a lot in this forum before and I was not able to find the answer for this. The nuts are the most costly things. Yamaha charges Rs. 39/nut :O

Hi guys, my 4 years old fazer throws a black smoke. And also facing jerking problem on low n mid rpm. Its like the bike runs almost without a fuel. Svc guy has checked the exhaust and told me that the black smoke is not oily and engine oil level is also good. So the problem is with carburettor. Changing carburettor will resolve the black smoke as well jerking problem.

He also changed spark plug, air filter for jerking problem. The old(1000 kms old) spark plug was almost burnt.

Carburettor cost is approx. 4500 INR.

And there is a tik tik noise coming from the engine. SVC guy said timing chain and valve is the reason for that sound. Please share your ideas/suggestions.

Sivanivas, try servicing the carburettor. Black smoke is usually associated to improper fuel burn or excess fuel in the mix. This happens if the flote does not function properly in the carb. Sometimes it may be caused due to improper closing of the choke.

Regarding that engine noise, better check that timing chain and cam shaft.

How is Michelin Pilot Sporty 100/80 r17 (Ind) Front tyre? Pirelli Sport Demon 100/80 r17 is not available right now in Kolkata.

My 2015 FZ-16 V1 once reached a top speed of 124, mostly because I weigh peanuts (~42Kgs) and I was scorching. But then top speed was never the FZ's forte!! was it?

Top speed is more dependent on horsepower than ccs. And for a 153 cc, 13.8 bhp machine, anything above 110 is fair enough.

Has anyone tried fitting the longer mudguard of 2012 model to earlier ones? Only the outer part. This is the 2011 model. Whereas this one is the longer 2012 model.

Check carburetor tuning of your bike. May to towards lean. The correct mixture will be when you adjust the fuel screw of carburetor from locking position to 3full counterclockwise rotation.
Normally fz16 / fzs has topend about 118-120, depending on rider weight, engine oil used, gear shifting above 6000rpm, tyre pressure and offcourse carburetor tuning, lean mixture will return fuel economy but engine will produce more heat, more vibration, more sluggish.
My fazer goes now 124easily using motul 7100 10w40, 35psi on rear tyre, stock settings.
If you put motul 5100 15w50, top end will slightly below 120.

Listen! If u get tik tik noise from engine head, thn intake exhuast valves are damaged, change as soon as possible with new valve seats.
Black smoke is piston ring damage sign. Don't know about carburetor.

Bought the longer mud flap of 2012year model for ₹140. Couldn't fit it with the given holes. Currently using double sided tape to hold it, will remove the flap as it spoils the look.

Hello guys!! I'm planning for a long ride on my fz later this month. My bike is a 2012 fzs and had done about 22k km but i have 2 major problems with my bike.
                                1) Very low fuel efficiency.i get around 23 kmpl.I'm unable to find whats the culprit here.the svc people are lazy as hell.and also i'm running on my first chain kit.is the problem caused by the chain kit? any suggestions on what to check?

2)My bike wobbles after crossing 60kmph.This problem started after changing both the tyres.the svc people said that the problem was with the new front tyre so got it replaced again but still the problem persists.also i have a leaking left fork.is this causing the problem??

please help me regarding this.considering to sell my bike if these aren't solved!
