Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Hi, my mechanic told, he need to change the carburetor vacuum piston to solve the issue which costs 1700. Is it true??Originally posted by vishnurajanme View PostA fresh issue is happening. My bike works well in cold conditions. But when it becomes hot, the engine stalls. After some 30 seconds using choke, it starts again. Whats must be the issue? Rich? 17 mm for drain bolt and 8 mm for oil filter. Socket wrench is the best option.Originally posted by sds_sen View PostHi This is senthil. I need help for engine oil change DIY. Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Carburetor has a vacuum piston or slide which has a diaphragm on top. This vaccum piston acts as an fuel pump when you twist throttle.Originally posted by vishnurajanme View PostWhat is the use of the vaccum piston and why it gives missings? Can any1 help
If it is ill fitted or has a hole, it wont provide smooth flow of fuel into carb , leading to missing or flat spots.

Need Suggestion
Hi,
I am a new rider (may be a Lizard compared to all the riders with experience as huge as Godzilla) with about only 1.5yrs experience. I own a used Yamaha FZ16 (2009 model).
When I had bought my bike it had a very poor condition, which I've kind of restored with regular servicing and necessary repairing.
I love my bike very much and replace necessary parts with genuine Yamaha parts only.
Recently I've noticed that my engine has caught cold and sounds a little shrill. One of my friend has suggested me to pour 2T next time I refill petrol. He has also asked me not to refill with Xtra Premium (as I usually do) and go for regular petrol.
I want to know IS 2T GOOD FOR MY BIKE?
If YES, then how much should I pour and which brand? Also, should I pour it every time I refill?
Also, SHOULD I GO FOR REGULAR PETROL?

they become so with experience and a thirst for learning which never seems to go away. Looks like this is your first post, welcome to xBhp!
Now to your query, don't put anything with petrol. 4-stroke engines don't require anything other than petrol and air.
And what's wrong in using normal petrol in your opinion. I have never filled premium petrol and the bike is running perfectly.
BTW, what is the ODO reading?
Ride safe and have fun.

, but absolutely okay in cold condition (i.e. fresh cold morning starts, start after 1hr parking). What happened I don't recognise? Battery is new and absolutely fine.
