My earlier ride was a 2004 Scooty pep, a punny 80cc that could do 70kmph...
A Fazer feels rock solid, but I have had valve issues earlier and the Factory shop mechs cared two hoots for it. Have found a better SVC now.
Might switch over to a more powered liquid cooled bike in the future but for now it shall be the 150 cc Fazer...Still trying to learn its limitations. I knew the limitations of a pep, but the Yamaha engine is so refined and the bike build so good that one tends to misjudge the limitations....

    I am still learning....

Btw the Motul case was in normal city riding at speeds upto 90 kmph
    Hi Team,

A small suggestion recently i have bought new yamaha FZ16 that is 2017 manufactured batch and mine was the last manufactured vehicle from company, which i bought on 26 JAN2017, after owning FZ v2 for 6 months, i sold bought this old version, when i drove speed of vehicle is very less, i mean gear ratios are very near, so what i did is i have changed the front small sproket wheel to unicorn wheel which has 15 teeth, stock one has 14 Teeth, this has increased my vehicle speed, like example earlier i use to clock 60 KMPH with 4000 RPM, now if i touch 4000 RPM, my bike is touching 65 KMPH, then still i am not satisfied, so i went for changing stock new MRF type to Machillin which larger than stock tyre, now i check and tested my bike speed, 4000 RPM, it is touching 70 KMPH, So i can give gurantee that for log drives easily i can touch 130 KMPH, we this simple modifications, last but not he least, slightly you need to compromise on pick up.
    Cost for modification.

Unicorn: Front Sproket wheel, 150 Honda Original

Rear Tyre : Michellin 3250, including tax ( Since my Bike was brand New, Type shop owner offered me Rs 2000 for MRF company tyre which came along with Bike)
So tyre cost could be 1250.

With this slight modifications you can achieve top speed, without touching engine or going for race air filters.

      Hi

Your modification for achieving top end speed is a tried and tested method by many and myself. But after all the changes for achieving the top end speed you lose heavily on the lower end. Frequent changes to the gear is required in traffic situations as the bike will feel extremely under powered. If you are a high way rider then the modification is justified. But I believe FZ is a pure street bike not ment for high speed. More over by replacing a taller tire you compromise on the handling of the bike. The bike will feel heavy.

I had changed to PSD and 15T sprocket. Enjoyed the top end But After the life of the PSD was over I did not think of going to tall setup. I made the bike to stock condition. Where you can enjoy the bike for what it was originally designed for. You can feel the handling changes immediately.

So if your looking for a top end bike I would suggest FZ is not your cup of coffee. Just my 2 cents not to offend anyone.

      Cheers

Are you running 140/70 tyre on 15/40 setup? then your gearing must have become really tall
FZv1/v2 and R15 v1/v2 sprockets are direct swappable. Not sure of SZ.

        • Help me with Yamaha FZS (without kicker)

hi,i am having issue with FZS suddenly .it was running good last night .when i turn on the key ,speedometer display light flickers sometimes and after some time comes on. horn volume is low at first .when indicator is turn on ,speedometer light again flickers with the indicator. when headlight is turned on ,speedo display turns off and headlight also won't start .when i press the self button ,it clicks at magneto (i think; units that is besides the battery with two wires connected) and again display goes off and sometimes red light turns on.but if i push start the bike it runs fine .only horn volume is low and headlight dims with indicator on. does battery is faulty ? it is 5 year old amaron .service center is far away from home.

Agree... FZ is ment for city riding. it feels home when it's ridden between 50-75.

              Hey guys
I have few queries. Please help me out.

              1. Rear Tyre to buy. Stock tyre gave me horrible experience as it is puncture prone. Roads are typical Indian in my area. Which tyre is good enough to survive with long mileage. (Zapper Q or Conti Go or any good choice by you).

              2. Exact amount of fork oil to be refill in each fork and the brand of oil. Is bajaj fork oil good enough? Or suggest any good brand.

              3. Now the stupid query. When i got my bike serviced or cleaned by local machanic, he always uses bike petrol to clean everything (chain, sprocket, any overhauling item, cleaning of clutch and accelerate wires, etc). Is it safe to use petrol for cleaning purpose or Is he ruining my bike's parts? What could be the options for cleaning purpose?

All the help would be highly appreciated.

              Cheers.

Go for 130/70 profile... Puncture problem will be solved. I use petrol/diesel to clean chain and have never faced any issue.

But i have heard a lot that using diesel over O-Ring chain with cause swallowing of rubber seal between links and further end up with a jammed chain. Any Idea ?
Fork oil problem still persists. Right side fork is leaking badly. I need to refill them as soon as possible. Help me guys.

No issue with using diesel for cleaning the chain/sprockets I have been doing the same for years now. But if you can shell money for spray cans, go ahead

Fork oil problem? Get the seals changed at svc. I will cost you some 450-500 for one side fork (seal+oil change). Delaying will cause scratches on the inner tube.

                    Ride safe and have fun.

Please please don't go for zapper q it's a rubbish tyre fish tails a lot, a xbhp member warned me even then i bought that tyre. It fishtails even on the dry road and in rainy season god save your life. You will completely loose confidence in your bike where you could drive 70+ in stock tyre it will reduce to 50 in zapper q.

After riding on zapper q i'm going to stock one again, life is more important than punctures. Honestly i never had puncture problem with stock tyre also only air pressure was the problem. It clocked 20k for me. And front 35k with no punctures.
I will suggest you to go with stock one, if not possible go with the gixxer one i thing revz m i read some where that it is better than revzs or you can also go for fzs v2 but i think it develops cracks really fast.

From experience, I would suggest Pirelli Sports Demon or Michelin Pilot Street (not Sporty) any day. Other than that there is CEAT Zoom-RAD and Revz-M stock size, which are better than normal stock Revz. MRF got a new soft compound MRF Masseter.

List of tyres I had used in 48k kms.
MRF REVZ (Stock with FZ-S Carb) - Too much dry grip, less wet grip, least grip on mud, puncture magnet, last upto 15-16k kms - not available right now
MRF REVZ Y (Stock with FZ-S Fi) - Avg. dry grip, less wet grip, less grip on mud, slightly puncture resistant due to hard compund, last upto 25-30k kms - 3200/-
Michelin Pilot Street Radial 140/70 r17 - Very good dry grip, good for cornering, bike feels tall geared, very little grip in mud, but wet grip is good, slightly harder than MRF but it is good compound, made in Thailand product, Bike feels somewhats front biased and lacks rear braking, best buy for 140/70 & 140/60 tyre rims - 5500/- (costly)
                              Regards

Will it cause unstability if i opt for a bigger profile tyre as 140/70 and 130/70 are bigger profile than 140/60 profile?
And if i use motul fork oil 20w grade to refill fork then how much quantity is needed for perfect fork operation. User manual says 459 ml per leg but i think it's too much quantity while using higher grade fork oil.
