Plastic expands and contracts during summer and winter. Painting won’t help. It just peels off during summer and winter. Try to replace all panels if you want neat looking bike.

            • Engine problems in fz 16

I'm new here ,so please forgive any mistakes I have made while posting. I ride a Yamaha FZ16 2010 model. Recently I have been seeing white smoke emanating from the exhaust at high rpms. The bike has did almost 60k kms. Can anyone help me in identifying the problem? P.S I have fitted a P220 carburetor and K&N intake air filter.

                  Probably Piston rings went kaput.
Excessive mods to engine components so, engine worked hard and the piston rings took some beating.
Now you must have an engine which is sucking oil from engine onto piston at high RPM and burning it, so white smoke.

Get it fixed soon prior those rings screw the chamber and screws crank shaft.

Nice to see people screwing their rides just for fun. Did those mods gave you any real value? Why didn’t you upgrade your ride instead of these mods??

I guess you are right. I do get more power and am still getting mileage between 40-45kmpl. So I kept those mods. I guess I will have to remove them now. Thanks for the info. P.S Do you know the cost for replacing those?

If the damage to the piston rings is in initial stage, your cost wont exceed 4K or maybe 5K. (Considering you get it fixed from local repair shop and not Yamaha.)

If you ran engine for 4K or more with damage. And if this caused damage to other parts which connect to piston, then add another 3K for repair.

If you haven't changed clutch assembly earlier, get it done now. it wont add much cost. hardly 1K. If you have changed earlier at around 45-50K, ignore it.

Prices are rough estimates. Cost heavily depends on the city you are in.
