    3) Was there any recommendation from the mechanic to ride the bike in any specific speed for certain Kms ?
    4) Did he feel any difference before and after changing the bore?
    Hi,

    Yes near Selaiyur.

    1) He replaced the bore at 65,000kms and then he rode for another 15,000kms and sold the bike.
    2) He did not face any problem.
    3) With new bore the engine is basically new. So follow the recommended run-in procedure, ie, keep the engine below 5,000 rpm for the first 1000 kms.
    4) Yes. After changing the bore the engine felt like new. No white smoke, good pickup and good mileage.

Hi .... Thank you for the response....
OK so after the re bore. May I know where your friend gave the bike for the regular service?be cause I do understand that after shelling around 8k he still would have spent some money on the service. That's y.

Guys , in my FZS v1, past two days I am getting a wired smell (something like a rotten egg) from engine after riding for about 30 minutes. I haven't checked with service centre yet , but any idea what it could be??

Hi. After bore replacement, the regular service was done in showroom and local mechanic depending on his convenience and time.

Not sure of the weird smell. May be some plastic or muck from the road got stuck to the engine or exhaust and smells once the engine gets hot. Check the engine and exhaust area for any foreign material.

                Hi guys
My name is Vishal and I am from Delhi. I own a Yamaha Fazer 'Midnight Black Edition' which was gifted to me by my brother this year. The bike has done 28k KMs so far. A month ago, I got my bike serviced and had changed its engine oil too. After that, I drove it for around 900 KMs and now I am facing some problems on my bike. Hope you people can help me.
                1. The gear shifting is not at all smooth. Sometimes, the gear gets stuck while shifting.
                2. When I ride my bike at low speeds (20-40km/hr), I hear a creepy krink sound coming from the rear side of the bike. This sound dies at relatively higher speeds. So at first, I lubricated my chain and the sound stopped coming. But later, it has again come back. What should I do?
                3. My bike is returning a mileage of 30-35 KM. Is that normal considering that it is 2011 model?
Also, I would be very grateful if you could direct me to a good mechanic in South Delhi or nearby as I don't know much about bike maintenance.
                  Thanks in advance!

                  Hi!
Friends on some unfortunate day i installed zapper q 130/70 on my bike, from that time 3 rainy season and 3 time i have fallen of my bike. A fellow xbhpian warned me not to install zapper q but it was too late i already did. So, please can you help me know with correct tyre choice. With revz i never had a single issue with grip. I can't recall that how they feel in rainy season. I'm confused between these three revz-s that came stock fitted on fzs 1.0, revz-y on v2 and revz-m.
Which of the three will give better all-round performance. I have no problem with soft compound tyres, so feel free to provide suggestions other than these tyres. Thanks in advance.

The new stock tyres are working better than older model. As I'm in Bangalore i do experience wet road more often, i felt it's perfect to ride at any conditions.

I got this mileage while riding on my first bike trip to Rishikesh from Delhi. Was driving around 70-90 KM/HR for long stretches(120 KMs). Do you think that's good average?
And I got my bike serviced at a local bike repair shop with a local mechanic. He had changed the clutch plate and the inner clutch hub with original Yamaha spare parts. The oil used was Castrol Active 20W-40 4T. Other than this, he had tuned and adjusted the carburetor. Initially, the bike rode very smoothly and it was fun to ride. On my way back, the noise started. So, I got the chain lubricated and things became good again. After I reached Delhi, the noise started again. Gear shifting too became rough and harsh. Need your advice on the same.

Thank You for the reply.. at first I thought the same, but it wasn't the case. I recently recharged my battery. I am suspecting that could be the reason. Coz, I don't get the same smell when i ride in the night, where the use of battery is more comparatively. Anyway decided to take it to service centre.

You check the tappet adjustments i.e. valve clearance from a very good mechanic with using feeler gauge (intake 0.08 mm to 0.12 mm and exhaust 0.12 mm to 0.16 mm) or from yamaha authorized service center. It will cost merely 250/- labour charges. Make sure do not decrease the clearance much (i.e. below 0.08 mm for intake and 0.12 mm for exhaust) otherwise you can get idle issues and frequent stalling between traffic.

You loosen 1 turn the clutch cable screw on the left side of the handlebar, I believe the clutch lever is over tightened, just make sure 10-12 mm will be sufficient.
Clean the rear drum brake and the rim inner surface dirt might be deposited and making this noise, and also while putting the axle rod back apply some silicon grease and also check the wheel bearing for any lateral movements.
That mileage is familiar with FZ (<2013) models. Dont do any carb adjustment to get mileage otherwise it will damage the engine due to lean mixture with frequent spark plug changes and engine overheating.

Revz M has better grip due to soft compound. Revz Y has normal grip and bad wet grip though lasts around 20k plus. If you have money, I suggest you to go for Michelin Pilot Street (not Sporty) 140/70. It is very very good in all terms of road grip (not offroader) and lasts around 25k+.
