How much oil did you poured in each leg. How's there performance, stability, shock absorbing capacity.

    Cheers.

Hi Guys. What is the cost of replacing all the plastic panels in the FZ. Cost break up for each panel will be helpful. My 2008 red FZ's panels have faded and worn own due to its age. Is it possible to get the tank panels with similar FZ font in the first gen FZ?

Costs 4-6k depending on color. 2008 graphics is hard to get.

Hey guys, just bought a FZ-S v2.0. I bought the white model.

Owned FZ 1.0 for nearly 3 years before this.

I was thinking of getting helmet lock and adding foamy seats.

Any other mods necessary? Pillion seat looked a little uncomfortable, should I widen it?

On a more fun note, was wondering if you guys had links to any cool mods? While I love the white color, I'm not the biggest fan of the stickering. Would like to modify it a bit. Was looking for ideas and suggestions to make it a little less flashy and more minimalist.

                    Hi ppl
I was cleaning my carburetor and when i tried to take note how many turns had the fuel/air mixture screw, I noticed that it had 6 demn full turns, this is the first time i touch the carbi so my motorcycle was running the last 14000 km with a rich mixture, the weird thing is that the spark plug was fine, I changed it at 12k, no trace of rich mixture (black head)
So i tune the carb with 3 full turns and it runs the same as before

                    • Yamaha FZ S Smoke problem

                      Hi Guys,

                      Bike : Yamaha fz s 2013 edition.
                      Total Kms Covered : 37000
                      Bought it @ hyderabad.
                      Moved to chennai in 2015.

Used my bike more like a commuter covering around 8 kms to and fro while i was at hyderabad and some outtings in the weekend which would not cover more than 100-150 kms.

                      After moving to chennai

Had been giving it for service to yamaha service centre indira nagar chennai for almost 4 services within a time interval of 2 months for each service. The distance covered to and fro per day in chennai would be around 40 kms.(monthly 800-850kms)
The first two services were ok. After the 3rd service i had pick up issues with my bike. When asked they said they had adjusted the idling and the clutch.
For one week from the day of service the bike would ride fine but later the acceleration would be pretty rough. and the same repeated for the next service as well.

Now i was not satisfied with their service and had to opt in for a garage at medavakkam called AB bike zone. The owner/mechanic said that bike is almost dead its just 50-50 . The issue being oil had not been changed for quite a long time. He fixed it up and i had white smoke when i turned on the engine and he told me that if the bike dissipates same kinda smoke after 3 days it means that bike is just 30% alive and asked me to bring it to him.

But some how, i did not notice any such thing after 3 days and started giving it to him after that for my regular service.
A month ago i noticed that there was smoke coming from the silencer . Took the bike and showed it to him. He said that engine is almost done. We would have to bore it. Looking @ my bike , since the bike looks kinda new, he said its better to put a new bore instead of re-bore and said it would take 1 week for him to put up a new bore. (Since he suggested that re-bore would be done for old bikes alone)

I had asked another local mechanic fella and he said that the smoke might be bcuz of air filter or oil.. He checked both and he himself accepted that both are fine. But he was not sure engine had some issue, but he said that some of the valves have loosened up.

The common point conveyed by the local fella and AB BIKE zone mechanic is that n more than 80km/hr which would give the smoke.

                      Question
                      1. Do i need to opt in for a new bore?considering the fact that 20 k would be charged for the same by AB Bike Zone
                      2. Is there any other source or helping hand to whom i can show my bike?
                      3. Or is it necessary that i should start opting for other bikes.

Appreciate effort of those critics/comments/reviews who are taking their time to respond to this thread.

                          Hi,

37,000kms is too early for bore change. White smoke is due to worn out piston rings and weak bore. Two main reasons are: riding in low/old engine oil and adulterated petrol. It is not more than 80km/h, you will see white smoke even if you simply rev the engine beyond 5000rpm. There will be significant drop in power and mileage.

                          To answer your questions:
                          1. I'd suggest you to replace the bore. New bore replacement will not cost more than Rs8k including parts and labor with a local mechanic. Even the authorised Yamaha showroom will charge you only Rs10-11k for new bore replacement including parts and labor.
2.Check with few other mechanics and showrooms.
3.With new bore and regular periodical maintenance/oil change your FZ should easily last for another 50,000kms without any issues easily.

Thank you firstly for the quick response.
But May I know whether you got any local mechanics
                            In Chennai?
I am currently using motul oil for the bike currently... But earlier was using the Yamaha line oil provided by the service centre... Any chance that it might have had an impact in the engine?

I remember a friend of mine got his FZ's engine work done with new bore a year back from a local mechanic shop 'gopi auto works' in Rajakilpakkam, near subway restaurant. My friend was happy with the work done and he paid close to Rs8000. I personally don't know the mechanic but you can inquire yourself. Changing engine oil brand form Yamalube and Motul or any other will not affect the engine as long as you use the recommended oil grade.
