Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Local mechanic asks for a .25 rebore and oversized piston rings. This method may be economical but the final result depends on quality of workmanship at lathe. CNC machining is preferred for this type of work. Whereas SVC is asking for new bore kit and piston this is tension free and you will get 6 months warranty from the SVC. I would suggest you to get all the genuine parts form SVC and get an experienced local mechanic and get the work done by him. So you can save some money on labour chargesOriginally posted by Wheely-123 View PostOff the BOTTLE & On the THROTTLE

Thanxx bro. Nice suggestion. Now further..
1. Is .25 size piston kit available at SVC or i need to buy it from outside. If so then which company makes good .25 piston?
2. Will this method restore top end speed to earlier one i.e. 120+ kmph?
3. What will be effect on pickup and mileage?
4. What other things i need to replace along with piston? List of all the items i need to change?
Pls help.

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
SVC have normal bore and piston set. They don't sell oversized kits. Are you going to do a rebore? Then only over sized rings needed. You need to ride the bike below 50 kmph for the first 1000 kms after the work is done and then gradually increase speed. Engine break-in is needed after bore change so be patient and ride gently. Only after this you can expect increase in pickup. And for the low top end get the clutch plates checked replace only if needed change timing chain if it makes noise and get the carburetor cleaned throughly with clean air filter then fine tune carb. During overhaul of engine check the valves do a valve lapping if needed and properly adjust tappets. This may solve the issues I think.Originally posted by Wheely-123 View PostThanxx bro. Thanx bro for ur help.
Yes we're planning for rebore. And you explained everything neatly will surely be a huge help for us. Yes we will follow ur suggestions for engine break-in period. And will get everything checked and tuned peoperly.
Thanks for being a helping hand.
Cheers

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Use car shampoo, the best way is using a foam gun, let it soak in, the foam should remove the loose dirt then rinse it with the hose, using the 2 bucket method wash it with a soft washing mitt, starting from the top down. This way it should prevent scratches on the paint. Then wax it but don't over do it

Re: Yamaha FZ-16/ FZ-S
Are you going for r15 or generic ones. If r15, then they are easy to mount. Tell me if you want, i will show you the picture.Originally posted by Kartik Shetty View PostWhere to mount horns? I want to go for dual horns with minimal vibration where can i mount it without the front wheel touching it?
