The throttle response is too tight. What is the possible solution for this ? Can I replace the carburetor ? What model of carburettor does FZ use ??
Air fuel mixture is not proper, towards lean, check spark plug tip for whitish/grayish tip, if yes then tune carburetor, stock tuning is 3 turns counter clockwise from the lock point of the brown fuel screw.
Service center use to tighten the accelerator cable, you can loosen it a little bit (say one turn the lock-nut at the handlebar), user manual will help you in this regard.

Note: You can change the petrol pump because some petrol pump use to have very bad quality petrol. I used to get the same issue, after that I retune my fazer's carburetor to slightly rich mixture so that there will not be cold starting issue as well as very less engine overheating and also replaced nearby BP pump to HP pump 2km away. If you do not find any good results, you can replace the spark plug (120/-) and air filter (240/-) also check whether the clutch plates are okay or worn out.

Don't check forks by going over potholes at high speeds - not only unsafe, other damage especially to wheel bearings might occur. An nearly empty road with speed breakers is the best. Your bike (the classic version of FZ) looks good, pressure wash it once and lube it properly afterwards. The rear axle is almost at its end of travel - another exciting DIY for you . Assuming the chain is a continuous one, chain kit replacement opens another door to grease the swingarm bearings. How old is the bike, odo reads?

Thanks Ashwanth. Sure, I won't go into pot hole intentionally . I was just trying it out of excitement.

The pic which i uploaded earlier are not mine. They are of my friend's bike.
I just liked the way MRF Masseters looked and the way they perform on FZ. They are much better than previous gen MRF Revz Tyres . so, I uploaded those.

I have a 2013 Model yamaha FZ16. 29000 kms on ODO. Still running with stock chain sprockets ( all Thanks to 90 gear oil which my nearby bike mechanic used to apply once in a fortnight).Still half the adjustment left in my bike. No considerable chain wear.

Planning to do greasing of rear wheel and cleaning of brake pads this weekend.

I'm getting a FZS 2014 model for 38,000 INR in New Delhi.I checked the bike and it looks to be in a good condition. It's only done 16000 KMs.I'm getting this bike via a trusted mechanic.Should I go for it?

P.S - This will be my first bike and I plan it to keep it for atleast 2 years.I haven't ridden a scooty or a bike so this'll be my "learning bike" for the meantime.

If it is your first bike, how could you have a Trusted Mechanic?
Also, for a mechanic, everything is a business. Now, you take a call.

            Any photos?

Bro you should check the tires as they should be stock if it has run only 16000 kms and check the manufacturing date of it, if you can you should get it checked at Yamaha svc and you can talk to the nearest service centre and tell them that you are buying it second hand and you want it to be inspected and they should provide you with the service records of bike and inspect they might take some charges or if you can increase your budget take a look at 2015 or 2016 they are relatively newer so they might be along with service records.

The price quoted is ideal for that year's model, but speedometer could have been changed. You need to verify with all the service records of the customer's in order to assure that. Inspite if he's a trusted mechanic, you must check it out with any of your biker friends before you make the deal...

What do you mean by throttle response? Accelerator cable is tight? Saw few fz’s with tight cables.

Bro, the speedometer you are using is the 2013 version. Actually the 2008 model speedometer differs from the new one..

The vehicle might have been in an accident, so he switched to newer parts. He may have upgraded just for fun too. No point in trying to understand his intent.

The lesson from him is, Don't trust the meter reading.

There is no significant drop in performance as well. It's a direct for, go for it

When i was changing the rear tyre of my fzs, i compared the weight of rev-z m and masseters, but weight of masseters was almost 3 time of revz-m, i got afraid and opted for m. M got punctured 2 times in 2k kms.

Yes Akash, its bit heavy compared to Revz series.

Its working fine in my friend's bike. We were also fed up with frequent punctures in Stock Revz series. His tyres reached irreparable condition due to punctures.
We asked about the puncture issue with nearby MRF Dealer. He told its very common with Revz series since it is soft compound and recommended us to go for Masseters.

Now my friend is comfortably using Masseters in his FZ. I didn't feel any considerable drop in performance. There is a slight increase in ride height though.

Even my tyres took around 13 punctures due bad condition of roads in Bangalore ( spent nearly half the cost of new tyres. It can't be fixed anymore ) . Since treads were still looking good, puncture wala did some jugad, he fitted Tube inside my bike's tubeless tyre. Hope it will run for couple of thousand kms more. After that i'll surely switch to Masseters. They are too good in terms of grip as well as puncture resistance.

I won't say it better than stock Revz. It nearly gives same amount grip as Revz and good cornering ability.

It takes some time to get used the higher tyre profile.
Recently I drove it for around 160 kms ride in rainy conditions, it's totally fine. Grip is good even on wet roads.Puncture resistance is the biggest plus point .
