Go to the SVC and check with them which colors are available and yes they will change it for you...
It would take less than an hour to change the whole thing....Vinu SV You shall remain in our heart forever.....

Off roading rear tyres
Hi,
i guess this thread has been bombarded many times with queries about tyres.
The primary reason why i am asking this is for my preparation for Leh trip '11 (fingers crossed to get leaves from work this time atleast!!
).
As we are all aware that the OEM tyre is good for roads but absolutely useless for serious off-roading which i am bound to encounter in Leh... so needed some advice regarding the same. In such conditions i assume PSDs for rear are also not up to the task.
As per my conversation with one of our XBHP member:trustvishwas, he has done Leh on FZ fitting rear tyre with TVS 120/80-17 PANCER. However, he had to completely remove the rear tyre hugger which is a whole set with the chain cover to accomodate the tyre. I am not soo keen with TVS as a brand so was looking for some suggestions.
So far only MRF Zapper Q with 140/70-17 seems to fit the bill according to me but i am not sure whether this tyre has got off-roading capabilities and secondly it is not tubeless if i am not wrong.
Your suggestions are most welcomeLast edited by shv18; 01-07-2011, 02:14 PM.A quote by a toilet, " use me well, keep me clean, i would never tell anybody whatever i have seen.." :P

Remove the chain
Hi,
Is there no master link for the chain on Fazer/FZ?
I want to remove the chain and clean it...Help me
Also the bike is emitting smoke at high revs and the service centre guy said its normal for all the FZs and showed the same with 3 brand new
Fz's. The factory setting of the fuel screw is 4 3/4 turns out, I made it 3 3/4 and now the smoke is vanished. Is it OK to run with this setting?
Thank youLast edited by sandeepcf; 01-07-2011, 02:50 PM.

Bike not starting
Guys,
Again problem with my starter
.
Yesterday i stopped at a signal and turned of my engine. Later when i tried starting it the bike refused to start
. I tried starting it but it just simply refused.
I had to use the push and start method then it started. It was so embarassing
to push my 5months old bike to push and start.
What might be the problem guys?
Later when i tried with starter it started.
Just not getting what the problem is? Battery? or starter?

If there is a problem with your starter motor or relay then the bike wont start at all with the self start. But that is not the scenario in your case. As you told the bike started after some time with self start then its definitely not the issue with Starter Motor / Relay.Originally posted by Nandyfz View PostGuys,

Get your battery checked from a Battery shop. Check the water level and the carbon deposits on the electrodes. It is definitely an issue with the battery.

Thanks for the quick reply. I too had a doubt that its a battery problem, but if its a battery problem then how come the headlight glow without any dimness??
Thats wat made me think about the starter

I have had this problem too ... And yet there is no permanent solution that I could find out , it's not a battery issue that much is for sure , coz I have had that checked multiple times ... The problem is with the relay I am told ... I believe its connected directly , to what i'm not sureOriginally posted by Nandyfz View PostGuys,

, thats what the mech told , so if it senses a problem it will shut itself down ...
Don't use the engine kill switch very often or shut the bike in transmission .. these can also cause the thing to malfunction .People ask me , why are you cribbing about the BHP ? to them I say "MORE is never ENOUGH" xbhp.com

Some electrical fundas below.Originally posted by kinshuk.arya View Postthe current taken by the headlight is very low as compared to the starter....
The headlight requires steady current. In case of default bulbs it is 12V 35W which is about 3A. battery is 12V 5A rating. so the bulb takes a lot of current available. The starter on the other hand needs a lot more current in very short duration of time. more like 10-12A in less than a second to start. Kind of in a surge fashion.
Now most batteries can handle surge (even though they are higher than their rating). But you shouldnt stress it a lot. What is stressing? Starting the bike with the HL turned on is a good example. Bcoz from 10-12A you push it to 13-15A. That would deteriorate the life of a battery.
The fact that you said that pushing the bike started it, shows the battery does not have enuf current in it to support cranking. So you'll have to check the electrolyte levels in it and if necessary top it with distilled water. taking it to SVC or battery shop should do the trick. They might ask u to leave it for over night charging in which case you'll have a prob in bringing your bike back home in case of a battery shop.Everyone falls down, doesn't matter...
But its how fast you get up, that matters.....

the diff b/w your case and his nand, is that you could not push and start your bike. Where as he could.Originally posted by nand15 View PostI have had this problem too ... Even though the manual says 3k for oil change, I'm kinda unsure of keeping a mineral for that long unless you top it regularly. My vote would be to switch to SS or FS oils and like forget it for 6 months (SS) or 1 yr (FS). This is the interval at which you would have to change irrespective of whether you have done enough kms or not.Originally posted by shv18 View PostPlease refer to the owner's manual once. You interval of changing oil is every 3000kms or a certain no. of days from the day of the last servicing. i can't recollect the exact figure right now.
That should help
Also make sure you guys check the manf date on the oils. Coz sometimes when a oil is sold for less than usual, it could be old oil. Anything less than 1 yr is fine by me. Less than 3-6 months would be super

. BTW SS and FS can last long, really long, tingtong, but still the debate is going on regarding its longevity.
