1.Look at the rims side carefully while rotating the wheelOriginally posted by digitalD View PostGuys, How can one check the Rims for any bends..?
What are the symptoms one can look out for? Do I need to visit the service center to get this checked..?
2.place your thumb on the side while rotating so that you can feel the bend
3.put the 1st gear while on center stand and carefully watch the back...my friends fz with a bent rim can be noticed from the back since it looks like its wobblingSmoke rubber, not tobacco.

apart from the above mentioned things a bent rim usually accompanies loss in air pressure...Originally posted by digitalD View PostGuys, How can one check the Rims for any bends..?

Hmm.. well I think no tire will grip all that well on gravel unless it was SPECIFICALLY designed to do that (like Dirt Bike tires). Will check out the withering patch again.Originally posted by kinshuk.arya View PostI have not ridden the ones with PSDs but I am quite happy with the MRF stocks be it off road, flat road, dry road or wet road... the only problems i have had till date is slight giving away on gravel usually used while road paving or the red sand and gravel mix...
as regards to your stock rear is concerned I will say to test the vulcanized region before putting them in the bin... but a word of caution do check the portion before and after rides just to make sure they are OK and wouldnt blast away abruptly...
deville_56: thanks man. I think I may be able to find them somewhere here itself or in worst case, in mumbai.
Something or the other keeps getting screwed on my bike nowadays :'(
The seat - which is the one with a silver strip running in the middle which divides the rider and pillion seat - the stitching is giving way and the foam is visible
Any suggestions apart from the yamaha mesh seat in Pune? I do not want those cheesy looking ones with a flame like structure running down the middle. even fazer's single piece one should do actually.
Q: the mesh seat is an addon or will i hav to get rid of this seat to install that one?

you can always go for total black cover for the seatwhich can be manufactured by any seat cover vendor...Originally posted by s_and_m View PostHmm.. well I think no tire will grip all that well on gravel unless it was SPECIFICALLY designed to do that (like Dirt Bike tires). Needless to say NEVER keep your fingers anywhere near the wheels when the wheel is in motion unless you want to lose your fingers.

you can probably lookout for drstic reduction in air pressure on tyres, if they are giving away psi really fast then it can give you a possible hint of bent rim.Originally posted by digitalD View PostSo, the basic test would be to look carefully.. and try to notice some wobbling while riding.. hmm.. thanks..

Sometimes you will bend your rim and still not leak air, although it will affect your ride quality. In this case best thing to do is a physical check on both sides of the rim with your fingers.Originally posted by shv18 View Postyou can probably lookout for drstic reduction in air pressure on tyres, if they are giving away psi really fast then it can give you a possible hint of bent rim.
