          Hey thanks mate,

i was going through some more research and if my suspicion is right, the AMCO battery is the culprit!!... just wanted to check are there any other batteries which we can look into replace the OEM Factory battery??.. it seems that if you do frequently switch off the bike during traffic signals.. eventually because of the starter, the battery drains out faster.... since, the horn was also sounding really low, it all points out to a completely drained battery...though just a suspicion.. will confirm once i get it checked at the service center.

          • Guys... about the change of push lever and speedometer, my chassis number is not listed. I said 'but my speedo is scerwed !', and he said it will be replaced under warranty (which is 2 years, not 3.. or I could be wrong and the SVC mech waas taking me for a ride). So that problem would get solved sometime this week.

And i also got a bunch of punctures near the same spot and as a result, the area had become weak. Got the thing vulcanized from inside and had a rubber patch seal attached on the outside. But after 2 days or riding, I noticed today that the outside rubber patch is giving way... I think soon the outer patch will give way completely and then the quality of the inside job would be tested.

So I was wondering if I should let it go to that extent (and lose the tubeless behavior advantage in case the area ruptures coz that hole had become huge after multiple fixes) OR to go for a new rear.

And the Perellis seem to be a popular choice. I was wondering in the last few pages what the heck was wrong with the MRF stocks, coz my punctures were caused by huge ass nails. But I did notice that teeny tiny stones keep getting lodged in the surface of the tyre.

Hmm... so finally, should I go for the new one? Boo hoo.. the stock ones still have good deep treads and I was generally happy with thr handling behavior on city streets and on the corners.

Another Q: in case of the PSD's, some minor offroading goes straight out of the window doesnt it? Minor as in tours which might include some rough patches....

            Let the advice rain in
            Thanks in advance

I have not ridden the ones with PSDs but I am quite happy with the MRF stocks be it off road, flat road, dry road or wet road... the only problems i have had till date is slight giving away on gravel usually used while road paving or the red sand and gravel mix...

as regards to your stock rear is concerned I will say to test the vulcanized region before putting them in the bin... but a word of caution do check the portion before and after rides just to make sure they are OK and wouldnt blast away abruptly...

Thanks guys.. The prob was the SVC is like 10 KM from my home..I called them yesterday and they said it can be seen today only... got a mechanic nearby and it was fixed in 10 secs... he used a hammer and screwdriver... he hit that in a particular spot twice and the key was fine after that...

                    Hi,

i did go to the service center and my suspicion was right, the battery terminals had truck loads of carbon deposit(See attached image, clicked from phone cam, hence horrible quality) which was not allowing enough current to the starter and the console hence, the screw up.

After chatting up with the mechanic, i figured out that the no. is surprisingly high of no. of customers coming up with the same problem.

Anyways, got the carbon deposit cleaned and after that i ask the mechanic to apply grease on the battery terminals (a small trick i learned back in the day when my dad's car used to get serviced.) which prevents the terminals from getting exposed to the extremely humid climate of Mumbai.

i am just surprised about the fact that being barely a month and a half old, i didn't expect this thing to crop up so soon. i would like to advise all the new or potential fz owners to get the terminals checked before you take to delivery from the showroom or the service center.

Use petroleum gel rather than grease.

AMCO or MINDA are the batteries supplied by Yamaha for all FZs and Fazers. Hope that clears out your doubt.

I am not sure about exide, but regardless it is a good battery. i was eventually thinking of shifting to Bosch maintainence free battery, if they have any for FZs. Highly, reliable atleast with my dad's ikon
